Ah, now I don't hardly know her But I think I could love her Crimson and Clover....... Clover is a 4 yr old, lucky Black Lab female beauty, approx. 50 - 60 pounds, gorgeous dark brown eyes with slight gray on her muzzle. Clover is super sweet with all humans from small children to the elderly. She is playful and good with other dogs but does need to be fed separately due to going after other dogs food and saving hers too and could cause a conflict. This is typical of a dog that was deprived of food in the past, so its best to feed separately when there are other dogs in the household. She loves her ears and belly rubs, being pampered and ... (Read More)petted. She is crate trained and house broken. We do not know how she is around cats. Clover rides well in a car and is good in the house. She is not a chewer, only barks for the right reasons and fine when left alone uncrated in the home. Clover is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped, but did test positive for heart worms. We have started her heart worm treatment and will continue to treat even if she goes onto her forever home. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-25-00208Missy (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Missy is a beautiful Lab mix that we rescued in a parking lot when she was 10 weeks old (according to the vet). At that time she was only 4 and a half pounds. We would never leave a little puppy in a parking lot alone at night. She is now 10-11 months old and weighs a good bit more than 4 and a half pounds. Along with being a Lab mix and a puppy, it is unfair to keep her in an apartment. We have done what we can to love her and give her a good home, but she has just outgrown us and needs more room with (preferably) a fenced in backyard. She has had her first round of shots- Distemper/Parvo 5 in 1 -DA2 Tp- fecal and dewormed at 10 ... (Read More)weeks old. We just recently had her spayed and she has had her rabies shots. We have a 12 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with heart disease and is too old to play and Missy wants to be a Lab puppy around her and it's not really safe considering our Cavalier's health conditions. Missy has a beautiful coat as you can see in the picture and is in very good health. She has, of course, lived indoors except for walking her. She just needs a good loving home with a yard to play in! We are in a desperate situation and have been trying to find her a home by word of mouth and have had no luck. We are only asking a $50.00 adoption fee to help a little bit with the $200- $300 medical expenses we have already spent, not including what we have spent on food and toys and supplies. Please help us put her in a loving home that suits her Lab personality! Sincerely, Amanda McDaniel (205) 531-5196 (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

This is sweet Bosco, approx. 5 yrs old, 80 pounds and mostly Black Lab. He was rescued from a horrible situation where he was kept outdoors in isolation and lived a lonely life in a small pen while being mistreated. In spite of all this he loves people and has a good disposition. As a result of his neglect he did test positive for heart-worms. There is no telling how long poor Bosco suffered from heart worms, but we do know he has damage and scaring to his lungs. He is however being treated and the rescue will continue to treat him until he is heart worm free. Bosco's life has seen an improvement since he began treatment and his foster ... (Read More)family says he is a real trooper. Bosco's foster says, 'he will steal your heart as sweet and precious of a boy he is and he is no trouble at all.' He is very friendly. Loves people and other dogs. Not sure about cats. He loves to play fetch but doesn't always want you to have the ball back and he loves toys. He will sit on command and put his paw on your arm. He does not chew or dig. He does pretty well on a leash but could use some more work. He rides well in a vehicle, but does get excited and likes to talk. Bosco would be ideal in a calm environment where he can get loved and spoiled rotten! He would require a big fenced in yard and definitely would love plenty of attention. Bosco in spite of all he has been through is happy and loving boy and just wants to please and show you that love. This handsome boy really wants a family of his own and a place he can consider home. If you do not hear back from us by EOD please check your spam folder & you may also email us directly via info@soldiersforstrays.org or via our web site www.soldiersforstrays.org Thank you ADOPTION FEE $275 Meet Sutton DOB 8/15/14. Sutton, his brother Floyd, and his blind mommy Edna all came to us in Sept 2014 from a not so great situation. Despite their rough start they are the sweetest things, ever. Both Sutton and Floyd have been ... (Read More)very well socialized being that they have grown up in rescue with multiple dogs in and out. Neither have any aggression issues, both are very submissive. No cats for Sutton, but Floyd cares less about them. They are great little pups that would love to meet you and love you forever. We are by appointment only & only after verification. If you are not willing to be verified prior to meeting the dog you're interested in, then we do not feel you are best suited for one of our dogs. Serious adopters have no issues being verified for the safety of the dog. Please tell us about yourself, family, lifestyle, other pets, children. Make sure to include a contact number. Puppies under four-months-old are available for transport at the adopters expense via United Airlines ONLY. We do not ship our dogs over four-months-old, you must come to our location in Sylacauga AL 35151 to meet them & for us to meet you. At that time we will go over all training of your new dog so, please plan on being here a minimum of one hour. Verification: 1) We require a letter of reference from your veterinarian or their information for us to contact them for a reference. If providing the reference from them we are looking for: Current pets are altered, on HW prevention, flea prevention, received Rabies vaccination, and all medical they may have needed as advised by your vet. It must be on company letterhead as we will contact them to confirm. 2) A video tour of your yard/fence/common areas of your home to make sure suitable for the dog you are inquiring about. Please email to us at info@soldiersforstrays.org 3) A copy of your DL, Passport, Visa 4) Contact number 5) Link to your social media accounts (FB, Twitter, Instagram) We are not going to post to your social media this is strictly part of screening as you can tell all about people via their online presence. Our screening process is not negotiable, it is set in place to protect our dogs, you the general public, & your current pets & children. If not willing to provide all of the information to ensure the safety of the dog you are inquiring about then please do not waste our time contacting us. If it states the dog cannot be placed with other dogs, then no other dogs, your dog is not the exception just because your dog is friendly & loves everything. While we do not place aggressive dogs back in the general public, we give them sanctuary, not all dogs can peacefully live in a home with another dog. All dogs over six-months-old have been with us for a minimum of 30 days prior to being considered for adoption. All puppies under six-months-old have been with us a minimum of 14 days to insure free of contagious disease. Our adoption fee's are nonnegotiable. The adoption fee does not come close to covering the care of the dog while with us however, the fee goes towards helping the next dog in need. If you cannot afford or are unwilling to pay the fee listed for a fully vetted, fully trained dog then you are not the home we are looking for, for one of our dogs. All of our dogs come crate trained, leash trained, basic obedience trained, & are house broken. The exception is young puppies that are working on housebreaking. We do not teach puppies to puppy pads as I have never understood the concept of teaching any dog that the house is a bathroom. We back our dogs for life & will provide free training for them at our location if a behavior issue occurs, even 10 years from date of adoption. They are UTD on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (exception is puppies under four-months, they go out with a voucher to be altered & if not done so by four-months we void the contract and take the puppy back), microchipped. They are HW- and on prevention for HW's as well as flea & tick medication. In the event they are HW+ (the ad will state if so) we provide all medication to treat plus cover all medical related to until such time they receive two negative test results. HW treatment is noninvasive & simply giving oral medication cures the disease, it is nothing like it use to be. (Less)

Buddy was left abandoned for 5 long months when his owners moved away. For 5 long months Buddy waited and waited for his owners to return. Never once leaving the property except for a few times to find refuge under the neighbors porch to get out of the rain. No one knows where he slept at night but he would be there in his spot every morning. Day after day waiting for his owners to return. Never giving up hope. Buddy is such a sweet guy. He is very loving and he seems so happy to have a warm bed at night and someone there to love him He does have arthritis of the spine and hip which will require management. He is currently taking Dasuquin daily and doing so well with it. He gets around better and has become playful with the other dogs. He has a favorite spot he likes to lay and either chew on his favorite toy or will lay quietly the whole day except for an occasional random bark. We like to think he is telling us what a great life he has now and thanking us. Buddy may only have less then 5 yrs to live but he is so deserving of a loving home with a family that will never again abandoned him. OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible. If you are working with For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, the additional fee is $200 to cover transportation costs and the health certificate, which is required to cross state lines. Transport to other areas is dependent on location, fees, and availability of independent transport services. You are always welcome to pick up your new family member. We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets. We do not adopt to 'outside only' homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets. All pets are completely vetted, up to date on all vaccines, and given rabies certificates.     Meet Lenny. Lenny is a very sweet 11 month old puppy. He is a well rounded pup who is friendly to all people and dogs he has met. Lenny is also a very smart boy. Lenny loves playtime and loves for you to throw him a tennis ball out in the yard. He will bring it back to you most of the time if he does not get distracted. Lenny also loves to eat and adores treats! He will happily sit on command for his 'cookies'. (all treats are known as 'cookies' to him). He also loves the sweetness of bananas and takes small pieces ever so gently from your hand as he does all treats. Lenny also loves affection and being loved on. Lenny and his brother, ... (Read More)Mickey (see our website) were saved from the City Shelter when they were both very young and sick with a respiratory infection. It is very difficult for a young puppy to survive in a public shelter due to their young and immature immune system, as well as the stressors of shelter life. Lenny is now a very healthy, beautiful pup. He has a very shiny black coat with beautiful white markings. Lenny enjoys his playtime with you and/or other dogs but also enjoys hopping up on the bed and taking a peaceful nap besides you. Lenny will sleep all night with you or in a kennel. Lenny and his brother, Mickey have always been together. They have played, ate, and slept together on a daily basis. In a perfect scenario, they would also be adopted together. However, we know that for most people, adopting two pups at one time may be too much to handle. We would consider an experienced adopter if interested in both. They are still very young and feel if in the right home surrounded by love and attention, will still do very well if they must be apart. They do occupy each other and they love one another's company, so they are rarely bored. They play wonderful together. We will take all applications into careful consideration. Lenny enjoys chest and belly rubs, adores treats, toys, rooting around the yard, playing fetch, playtime and other dogs. We think Lenny will remain a medium sized dog (60 pounds or under). He is a Lab mix with possibly some Pitty mix. We also believe he is mixed with a smaller breed dog due to his smaller build and smaller features. He is not very tall. He is currently 57 pounds and is 11 months old and just about full grown. For the latest video of Lenny and Mickey see our Adoptables page. The very first step is completing an application prior to a meet and greet. Please see our Adopt and About tabs on our website to learn more. Go to www.AdoptStarDogs.org .     Meet Mickey. Mickey is a very sweet natured and happy 11 month old pup. We call him the 'baby' of the bunch because he is just as sweet and innocent as a baby. Want to always have a happy face and wagging tail to greet you after coming home from a hard day's work? Willie is the guy for you. He gets along well with both boy and girl dogs, and big, medium, and small. With some definite hound in his heritage, he could be a howler, as some hounds are, or he could be quiet as a mouse. Willie will be neutered before going home with his new family. Willie is available for adoption from Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, AL for a $40 adoption fee.

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey there, I'm Hitch, a big ol' boy! I'm built like a couple of dog breeds like Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, and German Short Haired, but I prefer to be known as Hitch! I'm probably 7-8 years old, but who says you have to act your age? I'd rather act like a giant puppy than an older gentleman. I love attention and would like to be part of an active family. I can get real excited and forget my size and strength so probably no real little legged family members, but older kids would be great. I don't want to share my new family with another dog, I do okay with other dogs but I can be pushy if another dog tries to steal my spotlight too ... (Read More)much. But most of all I just want to play and romp, my tail is blurry in this photo for a reason! (Less)

He would just love to snuggle up with his future fur-ever family, cozy as a bug in a rug, getting his belly rubbed and his ears scratched. Don't you want to help this sweet boy live up to his name? Cocoa is about 8 months old, UTD on shots, neuter pending prior to adoption, playful but loving, and available for adoption from Second Chance SHelter in Boaz for a $30 adoption fee.     Kip, Kip, Hooray! Kip is a dashing and debonair dude looking for a fabulous family to call his very own. Kip can be the life of the party or a laid back Labrador mix, quite the social butterfly and changeable chameleon, ready and waiting to be your family's new wing-man...wing-dog. Kip is 4.5-5 years old, perfect for a new friend or family that doesn't want a baby puppy, but still wants lots of happy, Kip-kiss filled years ahead of them. He is a higher energy boy, and would love to have someone that might take him for some long walks or hikes, some kids to tussle with, or a big backyard to stretch his legs in nice weather.
