Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

This is sweet Bosco, approx. 5 yrs old, 80 pounds and mostly Black Lab. He was rescued from a horrible situation where he was kept outdoors in isolation and lived a lonely life in a small pen while being mistreated. In spite of all this he loves people and has a good disposition. As a result of his neglect he did test positive for heart-worms. There is no telling how long poor Bosco suffered from heart worms, but we do know he has damage and scaring to his lungs. He is however being treated and the rescue will continue to treat him until he is heart worm free. Bosco's life has seen an improvement since he began treatment and his foster ... (Read More)family says he is a real trooper. Bosco's foster says, 'he will steal your heart as sweet and precious of a boy he is and he is no trouble at all.' He is very friendly. Loves people and other dogs. Not sure about cats. He loves to play fetch but doesn't always want you to have the ball back and he loves toys. He will sit on command and put his paw on your arm. He does not chew or dig. He does pretty well on a leash but could use some more work. He rides well in a vehicle, but does get excited and likes to talk. Bosco would be ideal in a calm environment where he can get loved and spoiled rotten! He would require a big fenced in yard and definitely would love plenty of attention. Bosco in spite of all he has been through is happy and loving boy and just wants to please and show you that love. This handsome boy really wants a family of his own and a place he can consider home.     I'm military & getting stationed to location that require 30-90 days away from home at different times & potential deployment. I've had Snow for 10 yrs -since 3 months old & now need caring/responsible person/family to adopt him. He's mellow, but likes to chase birds in backyard. He's an outdoor dog, but sleeps inside at night. In Texas, he was an indoor dog as the heat was too much for him - he is potty trained and will let you know when he has to go or if he's thirsty. He really enjoys outdoors the most and has also at one point lived among farm animals, although I'm not sure how he is around cats. I don't have kids, but he's been really ... We are by appointment only & only after verification. If you are not willing to be verified prior to meeting the dog you're interested in, then we do not feel you are best suited for one of our dogs. If it states the dog cannot be placed with other dogs, then no other dogs, your dog is not the exception just because your dog is friendly & loves everything. All dogs over six-months-old have been with us for a minimum of 30 days prior to being considered for adoption. All puppies under six-months-old have been with us a minimum of 14 days to insure free of contagious disease. Our adoption fee's are nonnegotiable. The adoption fee does not come close to covering the care of the dog while with us however, the fee goes towards helping the next dog in need. If you cannot afford or are unwilling to pay the fee listed for a fully vetted, fully trained dog then you are not the home we are looking for, for one of our dogs. All of our dogs come crate trained, leash trained, basic obedience trained, & are house broken. The exception is young puppies that are working on housebreaking. We do not teach puppies to puppy pads as I have never understood the concept of teaching any dog that the house is a bathroom. We back our dogs for life & will provide free training for them at our location if a behavior issue occurs, even 10 years from date of adoption. They are UTD on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (exception is puppies under four-months, they go out with a voucher to be altered & if not done so by four-months we void the contract and take the puppy back), microchipped.     Hi, met Lue! He is a lab mix that has been in my care for a while. Lue is the friendliest pet I've ever cared for, but he is a bit aggressive with his friendliness. He has chased cars in my apartment complex, ran to other residents' units, and even lunged at children - all in the name of playing! He never intends to hurt a fly. However, after a serious altercation recently with another resident and their child being extremely frightened (so much so that he aimed a pistol at the poor doggy) by his hyper personality, I am forced to surrender him. I've placed him with my mom for the time being, but he has nipped at her for not letting him ... (Read More)outside, and now she's a bit frightened. I just want to find him the best home with the perfect family that has the space and energy to deal with his 'lab' characteristics! Generally, Lue will tolerate children but does not like to poked and prodded! Although he's an inside pet, he loves being outdoors! A fenced yard would be best for everyone. He is a skilled escape artist! Please help me find him a forever home! Also, his vaccines are up-to-date but close to expiration.     Charlie is full of energy. He LOVES tennis balls and playing fetch. Three years ago he had surgery on back left leg after a hit and run. Leg doesn't seem to bother him any more. He takes prednisone daily for allergies. He's a fun loving dog. He is house trained but loves being outside. He's healthy and weighs about 65 pounds. He also loves to swim! We have had an issue with aggression at times. I can answer any questions or concerns about this.

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meck is a one year old wonderful sweet dog, however he doesn't like younger children. He is a lab hound mix that we found on the side of the road so before we found him is unknown. He is friendly with other dogs and currently lives with a 15 lbs terrier mix and they play all of the time. He does like to wrestle, chase birds and squirrels, and chew on his kong and ball. He would be a good fit for a older couple with kids approximately ages 10 and up. He is up to date on all shots and I have records of them.

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ivy is estimated to be about 1-2 years old. She ran into a hospital and no one looked for her. Signs have been out for months. She is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, taking flea/tick/heartworm preventatives, and microchipped. Ivy is wonderful with strangers and children, but we are told she is not good with other dogs. She is in boarding because of her animal compatibility as rescues all have multiple dogs at home. She is stressed and not doing well in boarding. It would be best if she is the only dog in the home. She needs a secure fenced yard or supervised leash walks. She would love someone at home to keep her busy, ... Buddy was left abandoned for 5 long months when his owners moved away. For 5 long months Buddy waited and waited for his owners to return. Never once leaving the property except for a few times to find refuge under the neighbors porch to get out of the rain. No one knows where he slept at night but he would be there in his spot every morning. Day after day waiting for his owners to return. Never giving up hope. Buddy is such a sweet guy. He is very loving and he seems so happy to have a warm bed at night and someone there to love him He does have arthritis of the spine and hip which will require management. He is currently taking Dasuquin daily and doing so well with it. He gets around better and has become playful with the other dogs. He has a favorite spot he likes to lay and either chew on his favorite toy or will lay quietly the whole day except for an occasional random bark. We like to think he is telling us what a great life he has now and thanking us. Buddy may only have less then 5 yrs to live but he is so deserving of a loving home with a family that will never again abandoned him. OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible. If you are working with For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, the additional fee is $200 to cover transportation costs and the health certificate, which is required to cross state lines. Transport to other areas is dependent on location, fees, and availability of independent transport services. You are always welcome to pick up your new family member. We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets. We do not adopt to 'outside only' homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets.
