He needs a safe place to go very soon... we are moving next week.     Sweet girl approx. 14-16 weeks old, dewormed and up-to-date on shots. Gets along well with our dogs and cats. Training coming along slowly - typical puppy is easily distracted - she wants to please and is so very loving. Her current weight is approx 26 lbs. She will be a big black bear of a lab. Beautiful thick coat has waves on her back. She was placed with me by her owner who did not have a fenced yard, did not allow her in the house and had not vetted her. Traffic, coyotes and a neighboring pit bull that has attacked a full grown dog put this baby in a lot of danger. We are keeping her safe, but cannot handle a 4th dog with my ...     Nugget has been with Safe Haven since he was a tiny puppy! He was found at McDonalds in Andalusia (hence his name) full of worms, yet skinny. He is around 5 months old and is a boxer/lab mix sweetheart. Nugget has had all of his shots and has been wormed every month along with heartworm prevention since we've had him. He's also been fixed! He is very friendly and has been raised around other dogs and cats. If you want a dog that likes to play ball, yet cuddle with you on the couch, this is your guy!

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, My name is Emma. I have been at Safe Haven Dog Rescue since I was a 6 week old puppy, and I am now 11 months old (my bday is Feb 8!). I would like nothing more than to spend my first birthday in a forever home instead of a rescue. Although I do like it here, I would rather be in a home so I can get the one-on-one attention that I need. A little about me: I am a sweet girl, but im scared of some men. I won't bite them, I just bark until I see that theyre not going to hurt me. I love to cuddle (yes even with the men when I get to know them) and love warm doggie beds. I am kennel trained, as I love my kennel here at night. Squeaky ... (Read More)balls are an amazing invention that I can't get enough of. But don't expect me to bring it back once its in my possessions ;). I do well at dog parks. I love having the room to run and play with new dogs! One time, I even started a run-a-thon within the park. I just kept running and running and all the dogs followed me. I am sorta dominant, but not to the point where I'd harm another dog. I'll just growl at them to give them a warning. Doesn't seem to be a problem at the dog park though! I will need to learn basic commands, but im extremely smart! I don't even think house training me would take long. Please let my rescuer know if you want me as a forever pet! She told me that there is someone out there for me, so I'm pwaying reeeeal hard. Maybe its you?? Emma is up to date on all shots, worming and heartworm prevention. She has also been spayed. Home check and vet reference is required in order to adopt Emma! Adoption fee also applies. If you feel like she is your forever friend, please text or call me (text is better) at 334-723-5160! (Less)

Victoria is an extremely shy girl that lost out on the touch and companionship of humans at a very young age. She was found running the woods in a small community in Northeast AL It is sad that Vicky never felt the touch, hug or warmth of a human hand until she was 5 months old. She will come close to her humans but she does not want to be coddled, cuddled or held in anyway. She will allow a pat on the head of a scratch behind the ears. She is NOT agressive in any shapre or form. She would make a wonder pet if given the chance but needs lots of space. If you are looking for a companion, but not a lap dog, or a dog that wants constant ... (Read More)attention, then Vicky is the dog for you. She must not ever be allowed to roam free. She has to be contained behind a fence or on a leash at all times. Vicky will only be allowed to go to an experiended trainer or behavorist. Vicky is great with other dogs, she walks well on a leash and she is crate trained. If you would like her to become a house pet then some basic training is all she needs. She will come in the house but only on her terms, and she is by no means a lap buddy that will snuggle on the couch with you. Please consider that she is a good outside dog but we would prefer in a house enviroment. (Less)

Marvin is around 1.5 years old. He is loving, and knows basic commands such as sit, shake, down, etc. I rescued him from the pound; he had been a stray and was very skinny. Marvin enjoys playing with other dogs; he does well with most of them. He is good with people and very friendly with children, though due to his size I would not recommend him being in a home with young children. He is around 85 pounds. He is an indoor dog, but likes to run around in a big yard with a privacy fence. He would like to have a dog friend in his new adoptive home.

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-09-00238Sammy. (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sammy is a Black Lab/Border Collie mix and is approximately under a year and a half old. Sammy was rescued from a very high kill shelter and was rescued in the nick of time. At the time of Sammy's rescue, Sammy was very thin and starving. It is likely that Sammy spent most of his entire young life on the streets, never knowing the comforts of a home or an owner. He was also a bit shy and would exhibit submissive urination when approached. However, since Sammy's rescue, those days are long gone! Sammy is now a very happy, friendly and healthy boy! Sammy is still young and flourished quickly once safe in rescue. Sammy wakes up every morning as ... (Read More)if it were Christmas every day! Sammy is full grown and weighs 59 pounds. Sammy is an active boy and loves to play. Sammy loves attention and loves to be anywhere that you are. Sammy loves his playtime in the yard and will run and play with his toys but when his foster mom goes inside, he is ready to follow. Sammy will need a fenced in yard but an owner who will keep Sammy indoors when away or at work. Sammy is comforted by the safety and security of being inside when you are away. Sammy is both house trained and kennel trained. Sammy also now knows the commands sit, come, and 'go pee pee'. Sammy enjoys his playtime and at moments can play with such exuberance, he may be too rough for a very small dog or small child. Sammy is at times, still a puppy at heart and gets very excited during play. In addition, Sammy also loves lying quietly with you as you watch TV or just enjoying quiet times being pet. Sammy will play if you are ready or chill and relax just as easy. Sammy also likes to quietly hang out in the kitchen as you cook. Sammy enjoys healthy snacks such as bananas and baby carrots as well as broccoli. Sammy is a beautiful boy and sports a shiny black coat with white paws and white markings on his chest. His tail is black with white on the very tip. Even though Sammy is very well behaved during car rides, the car rides tend to upset his tummy. There are safe meds that Sammy can take if he needs to travel. Sammy recently got to enjoy his first Christmas when his foster mom took him with her to a family members home. Sammy enjoyed all the attention from family members and friends. He was well behaved during the hour and a half drive there. Please note: Sammy would chase cats, so a home without cats would be best. Sammy would not intend to hurt them, but would be excited to chase them! Sammy is a very affectionate and lovable boy and will make an excellent companion. Sammy is also microchipped! If you think you would be a great match for Sammy and would like to meet him, please go to http://adoptstardogs.org/ and fill out the quick application under the Adopt tab and we will happily give you a call!     Webster was found abandoned in a cemetery when he was a puppy. Other dogs had attacked him, and he needed a lot of care. Now he is the perfect watch dog. He scares people that come to his Foster mom's backyard, but he does not hurt anyone. Webster gets along great with her many other fosters. She really does not know how he would be with children because she does not have any, but he has been fine with many friends that have been around him. Webster is quite a HANDSOME guy!

Hey there, I'm Hitch, a big ol' boy! I'm built like a couple of dog breeds like Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, and German Short Haired, but I prefer to be known as Hitch! I'm probably 6 years old, but who says you have to act your age? I'd rather act like a giant puppy than an older gentleman. I love attention and would like to be part of an active family. I can get real excited and forget my size and strength so probably no real little legged family members, but older kids would be great. I don't want to share my new family with another dog, I do okay with other dogs but I can be pushy if another dog tries to steal my spotlight too ... (Read More)much. He has put on a bit of weight at the shelter during his time here, or you could say he has had a few too many Thanksgiving feasts... But he would love to join your family (and family table!) PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Alabama
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
