(Read More)found herself alone and about ready to give birth to puppies with no one there to comfort her or to make sure her birthing experience was trouble free. Sandy gave birth to 10 puppies under a mobile home. She had to scrounge around for food just to keep her self fed and to give her babies what little milk she could. 4 days later a good Samaritan found her and her puppies and brought them to rescue. Sadly after only 2 weeks 6 of her puppies succumbed to Puppy Strangles killing them. She was such a doting mother to all of them and even through all her sadness and the pain of losing 6 babies, she remained diligent and loving to her remaining 4 pups, always keeping a watchful eye on them. Sandy is a young loving affectionate yet playful girl. She has very good house manners and she is 100% house broke. Never having any accidents in the house ever! She is great around kids of all ages and sizes and good with other dogs. Sandy is Heart-worm negative and on all her monthly preventatives. Sandy would make a great addition to any family! He is very healthy at this point, but he has a cloudy blue eye. We do not think he is blind though. It is the result of a condition called Puppy Strangles.     Eragon was born March 28, 2016. He is a very sweet boy but highly energetic! He is just a hige puppy! He thinks he is the size of a Chihuahua. He is clumsy like a puppy and has knocked my 2.5 yr old daughter down and has leg sweeped me causing me to throw my back out. He needs more attention and training than we can provide. I will require a vet check.

You take a Bassett Hound, add a Yellow Lab head and tail and you have 'Stubby' the 'Bassador'. He is a very 'happy' fellow. So happy to be around people, kids, even dogs. When he has to go outside Potty he will hang out by the back door to be let out. He is happy to sleep in the bed with you; he just needs a little help getting up there. His bark is also a cross between a Bassett Hound and Labrador-very unique sounding. He enjoys toys, tennis balls, squeaky toys, and chew toys. He LOVES getting treats and praises for being a good boy. He is not destructive in any manner, and is pretty much a laid back kinda fella taking after the Bassett of ... (Read More)course. He likes both men and women but does tend to like women a bit more...because he has such good taste. He loves being brushed, petted and loved on. He enjoys receiving attention but is not an attention hound or hog lol. He does well in a fenced in yard for potty, running around and playing but he is definitely an inside boy. He will bark a little to let you know someone is about. Slightly shy around men in particular in the beginning but soon warms up. He came into us awfully thin, so his weight is still down, but we have been working on fattening him up and he is slowly improving. We have tried calling him several names, 'Stubby', 'Thor', 'Chance', etc. with no response. 'Stubbs' will bring a smile to people's faces when they see him. He is so unique looking and so very lovable and the right word is 'adorable'! Stubbs has been fully vetted; neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heart worm tested negative plus placed on prevention and he is microchipped.     Zelda is a beautiful girl who loves attention. She has been an outside dog and is not house broken. I would love to see her go to a home where she can be more a part of the family.     She was in a home where I suspect that the man might not have physically abused her(although I think he did due to her actions) but definitely verbally abused her. She was neglected as far as interaction. They took care of physical needs only but did not haven time for her. She definitely likes women more than men. She was scared of my husband at first but she's a good judge of character and was in his lap within moments. I have her now but my other three of my four rescues are old and won't tolerate her. I am keeping her at work but there is a possibility that she can get in the busy road. She stays in the office with me during the ... (Read More)day but at night I worry. I've had her for about 4 weeks now. I have her vet records. She is healthy and heartworm negative. She is a doll. Very timid and cowers at loud noises and raised voices. She needs a family with lots of time to walk/play or kids who will play with her. She is so loving. She is very cat curious and wants to play but won't hurt them. Some cats aren't very excited with her energy level. She will chase a ball for days. Loves it. She is pretty good about bringing the ball back but sometimes you have to chase her for it. She does like that. She will sit and is pretty good about shaking hands/paws. She is totally a sweetheart. I love her so much and would love to keep her but like I said earlier, three of my 4 rescues are old and just can't handled or won't tolerate her. They growl and snap and it scares her badly. This baby needs a family that will love her because she craves love and attention. (Less)

This is Bailey, full-blooded gal made of Sugar with a capital S. Bailey was rescued after a vehicle tossed her out onto HWY67 in Alabama. Bailey was covered in ticks and frightened. Luckily, she was left where a kind family helped her and contacted us. Bailey suffered lack of food, scraps and scratches and was dirty and covered in ticks from head to toe. (Read More)a very high prey drive so would only suggest going to a home that does not have small pets, good in a car, good on a leash but does pull some, has had some formal leash training but still needs work, has learned to focus and sit, doesn't not like a crate but will quiet down after a few minutes. Really no need to crate him. he has excellent house manners, completely house broke. He loves his belly scratched. He will roll onto his back to get a belly rub. Likes to sleep in bed with his people, great with dogs of all ages and sizes. Can get excitable and want to play and doesn't submit to other dogs warnings, but has not started a fight with them or engaged in fighting. Super nice dog. Does not require constant attention at all. Just happy to lay and sleep on Karunda bed or lay around outside. Knows some simple commands. Miro-Chipped OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible. Buddy was left abandoned for 5 long months when his owners moved away. For 5 long months Buddy waited and waited for his owners to return. Never once leaving the property except for a few times to find refuge under the neighbors porch to get out of the rain. No one knows where he slept at night but he would be there in his spot every morning. Day after day waiting for his owners to return. Never giving up hope. Buddy is such a sweet guy. He is very loving and he seems so happy to have a warm bed at night and someone there to love him He does have arthritis of the spine and hip which will require management. He is currently taking Dasuquin daily and doing so well with it. He gets around better and has become playful with the other dogs. He has a favorite spot he likes to lay and either chew on his favorite toy or will lay quietly the whole day except for an occasional random bark. We like to think he is telling us what a great life he has now and thanking us. Buddy may only have less then 5 yrs to live but he is so deserving of a loving home with a family that will never again abandoned him. OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible.     Hey there, I'm Hitch, a big ol' boy! I'm built like a couple of dog breeds like Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, and German Short Haired, but I prefer to be known as Hitch! I'm probably 7-8 years old, but who says you have to act your age? I'd rather act like a giant puppy than an older gentleman. I love attention and would like to be part of an active family. I can get real excited and forget my size and strength so probably no real little legged family members, but older kids would be great. I don't want to share my new family with another dog, I do okay with other dogs but I can be pushy if another dog tries to steal my spotlight too ... (Read More)much. PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Alabama
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Alabama Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
