Rescue Me ID: 15-07-29-00223Sam and Amos (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Sam and Amos are some of the SWEETEST dogs you will ever meet. They will love you with their all if they are given the chance. They are brothers who love each other more than they love most things in life. Some more of their favorite things include, but are not limited to: *lounging in-doors most of the day *wrestling with each other every once in a while *chasing squirrels *being rubbed *and eating, of course We have come to the very difficult decision to re-home our dogs due to one of our dogs (Amos) showing aggression to our 3 year old. We know that it is due to the pain of arthritis and the rambunctious nature of our son. However, we ... (Read More)also have a 5 month old who has yet to go through her rambunctious stage and we can't risk keeping him. And like I mentioned earlier, these dogs love each other so much. It is our goal to find them a home together, a home without young children. If we can't find a home for them together, then we hope to find a home for Amos. If we can't find him a loving home then we will have him euthanized to spare him the emotional pain of living in a shelter. A few more details on the dogs: *They will be 7 years old in August *We have their dog beds, blankets, bowls, a kennel, and some medication (for Amos) that we will provide for them'|along with their vaccination records of course. *We have Amos on Dasuquin for his joints, as well as Deramaxx (pain med) for his arthritis. Please give me a call if you're looking for two gentle, loving and very loyal dogs'|I'd love to answer any of your questions (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-28-00917Allie (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Allie is sweet wonderful dog. She gets along with some dogs not as well with others. She suffered a spinal stroke two weeks ago and her progress is already surpassing Auburn's prediction. However, it's reasonable to assume she will never walk again, paralyzed back legs, and may not ever be able to relieve herself without help. I am willing to help financial resources for an ongoing basis after adoption. I would like to be able to still visit her, unfortunately my career will not allow me to give her the care she needs. I have already purchased a wheelchair for her, orthopedic beds, a help em up ... (Read More)harness, etc. I know her chances of finding a home are slim, but if a dog ever deserved it, it's her. She is still very happy! If someone can care for her she could have a great life, but it's just feasible in a small apartment on the second story of a complex, even if I had time away from work. She still loves to chase her ball in her wheelchair. She does get nervous during storms, but if I'm with her, she's happy curling up next to me during a storm. (Less)

I need to re-home my dog being we aren't at home much he doesn't get the attention he NEEDS!!! He is a VERY SWEET and VERY ACTIVE almost 8 year old Lab. We live on a busy road and are having to chain him up due to him digging holes under the fence or jumping over the fence. He has just recently started this after we had to put our other dog down due to health reasons. We really think he is lonely and is in constant need of being around someone ALL the time, and being we work and then travel on the weekends, we do not have the time he needs. If we can't find a home for him we have no other choice but to take him to the humane society or ... (Read More)the dog pound. My husband has had him since he was 6 weeks old and this really is are last option. Please this would make a great dog for a young couple with children, a single person or even an elderly person.     I rescued this sweet girl from my work, but unfortunately I am unable to keep her. I already have 2 large dobermans, and I cannot afford nor do I have space for another dog. If I were in a better situation I would definitely keep her because she is very sweet and good with my dogs. She does want to chase my cats though. She is only 37 lbs currently and has been vet checked and vaccinated. She has not been spayed, but I would be willing to have it done or cover the cost.     This is a courtesy post for two wonderful ladies who are trying to find new homes for these dogs! Please call Belle Hamiter at 256-485-2514 or Karen Owen at 256-393-8552 for more information. Near Gadsden an elderly lady died, leaving her 8 dogs needing care. The people put in charge of managing her estate hired a caretaker who obviously wasn't capable of caring enough. By the time Belle and Karen became aware of the situation and stepped in to help, 2 dogs had expired on the property. Since then, a home has been found for one of the 6 remaining dogs. Here is one of the five dogs needing homes: 'ۢ Holly is an 11 year-old black lab ... (Read More)female who weighs about 75 pounds. She is spayed. She is very friendly, sweet and loving. Her teeth are worn down from age and she has a few sebaceous cysts that appear to be of no consequence. (Less)

He lives to sniff everything and is so curious a marking of a highly intelligent dog. He would do well with active people since he is so interested in checking everything out. He walks well on a leash and likes to play fetch with balls. Max is approx 1-2 years old, Yellow Lab mix, fully vetted and heart worm negative. To adopt Max please go and fill out an adoption application. http://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application/

Loves to play fetch and go for walks. He loves people of every age, but he forgets sometimes that he is a 55lb dog. He does not have a microchip. All of his shots are current, flea and tick meds given on time, and I keep him on a multi-vitamin daily, but it's not necessary. He stays in the house when I am home, but in a fenced backyard when I am not. He's stayed overnight in the yard a few times--while I was out of town--and he did just fine. The adoption fee is an offset the cost of all of the items that will come with Bear into your home. Such as: the remaining dog food, food and water bowls, 9 months of Heart Guard, remaining daily ...     My family is moving to England, and with fees and quarantine, plus the lack of room and running space that I so greatly need, I can't come with them. My 8 year old is very sad about this because I sleep with him every night. I love people, but even though I lived with another dog for a year, he kinda bugged me and I haven't liked other dogs since then. I love cuddling on the couch and playing tug of war with my owners. I have been obedience trained but I really need a place to run because I have a lot of energy. My family leaves in a week and a half. I hope someone nice can help me find a home that will love and care for me.

UPDATE - Jordan's adoptive mommy just found out this week that she has to have a port installed and start dialysis next week. She's concerned that she won't be able to properly care for Jordan.     Very sweet lab mix found in our neighborhood dirty and hungry with a broken chain around her neck. Despite all that she loves people. The kids have bathed and fed her and found her to be quiet and attentive with no aggression. No problem with cats or other dogs that we've seen anyway. She is female but we don't know about spay status. She seems young but again not sure. She will undoubtedly be a loving loyal friend to a lucky family.

Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our boy is oh'|Ka'|yo! He makes you sing! Our boy is oh'|Kayo and he is super sweet! Kayo found his way to us while in the middle of no man's land. Kayo has a wonderful and loving disposition, high energy, but yet easy going. He is approx. 2-3 years old and right at 81 pounds or slightly higher. He recently tested positive for heart worms, so that maybe why he took the path that led him to us. Heart worms is not a death sentence unless it goes untreated. As a rescue, we ensure every dog that comes into our program with the condition receives treatment. Kayo is very active and a fun loving people's dog. He does enjoy playing with other ... (Read More)dogs and gets along great with all shapes and sizes, but I don't think it really matters to him whether or not he has one to play with. Kayo is fine with cats. He has a quiet sweetness that is so infectious and he is a big ole baby, he doesn't care if you a big or little person he wants on your lap. Kayo is very strong and does tend to pull when walking him, but it's easily corrected with the right harness. He does however like to jump to get at eye level with you, and for a big dog he can jump pretty high when he's excited. For this reason only, small children are not the best fit as he would knock them over, but he has been much to my surprise most recently extremely careful around them although wants to lay on their lap so a dog as heavy as he is on a little person maybe just too much. Kayo would thrive in an environment where he has a big fenced in yard to run around in, plenty of exercise and family activities, love and attention. He thinks he is a lap dog and will get right on top of you on a couch, so if you don't want a touchy feeling kind of dog Kayo is not for you. He loves to be affectionate period! For sure he does need an active family that is willing to continue his path to greatness by spending lots of time with this boy! Kayo has already learned a few cues, but with continued obedience training amazing is the only word that comes to mind. If you are willing to give Kayo what he needs to thrive he will definitely be an amazing addition. To adopt Kayo get your app in here: http://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application/ (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Zelda is a gorgeous approx., 4 year old black lab female with beautiful black shiny waves down her back. She has a zest for life, enjoys time spent with people and playing fetch. She is bright and understands sit, stay and come and is very affectionate. She is easy to walk on a leash and much rather be close to her human and by your side. She is fine with cats and dogs, but would rather spend quiet time with a human companion in the house and on the couch. She is definitely a little silly and likes to play tug-a-war. She does have a bad habit of jumping up, but is a quick learn and learning not to. Zelda is a very special gal that deserves ... (Read More)her forever after! Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I watched you grow to be so bold To wear your faith Have it Shine through your face I see you as lovely that None can compare And I see you as dancing Brianna is an amazing dog once she lets you into her world. She is a dog that may have been seriously mistreated by a human, so she examines each and every human with caution and rightfully so. When the world does open to you and Brianna lets you in its going to be most amazing experience and adventurous ride. Brianna is approx. between 1 and 2 year of age, Lab and English Bull Dog mix she is both funny and a loving sweet dog. She is very smart, silly, loves to play with toys and has a great ... (Read More)love for the water. She is housebroken and leash trained. She especially enjoys spending time with you. She is a dog that hangs onto every word you speak and moves her head side to side while you talk to her. She makes funny snorting sounds the trait of the English Bulldog, plus a bit of a clown and walks funny. You cannot help but laugh out loud when you get around her so she is great medicine! She has the shiny beautiful black coat of a lab with a hint of the English Bull dog brindle in places and a small hint of white at the tip of her tail. She has the cutest under bite! Gorgeous in looks and all bubbly beauty in personality! Brianna with the right attention from the right family will flourish to the best friend anyone can hope to have! She is great with other dogs and cats, but is slower to warm up to people, but with trust and the effects of the past far behind her she will gain all the confidence needed to live a well balanced life. She is looking for a family that will give her the time she needs to open up and let them into her world. One that will be caring and understanding to her current situation. Once the flood gates are opened be ready for the best time of your life! Being around Brianna will light you up, put a smile on your face from ear to ear and you will want to dance with her. You couldn't ask for a more loving companion to be at your side. Brianna has not been recently tested again, but is not good with small children because they do scare her so a family with adults and teenagers is preferred to adopt. Brianna will make any family proud to have her as their own we are sure of it! Brianna is fully vetted, heart worm negative, on prevention and micro-chipped.     This dog is fantastic with kids and all other animals. She loves to be outside playing with other dogs most of all. I started out fostering BeBe from a Rescue Group. Three years later, I still have her and cannot keep her anymore. She gets out of my fence and animal control keeps picking her up. She is VERY polite and can go anywhere with you with no leash. She is house broken. She doesn't beg for food and doesn't take when it's not given to her. These are qualities that are natural to this dog and were not taught.

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-23-00523Victoria (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. If you are interested in any of the FFOS pups, the first step is to fill out an application, completely at http://ffosk9rescue.org/adoption-application. Victoria is an extremely shy girl that lost out on the touch and companionship of humans at a very young age. She was found running the woods in a small community in Northeast AL It is sad that Vicky never felt the touch, hug or warmth of a human hand until she was 5 months old. She will come close to her humans but she does not want to be coddled, cuddled or held in anyway. She will allow a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. She is NOT aggressive in any shape or form. She ... (Read More)would make a wonder pet if given the chance but needs lots of space. If you are looking for a companion, but not a lap dog, or a dog that wants constant attention, then Vicky is the dog for you. She has to be contained behind a fence or on a leash at all times. Vicky will only be allowed to go to an experienced trainer or behaviorist. Vicky is great with other dogs, she walks well on a leash and she is crate trained. If you would like her to become a house pet then some basic training is all she needs. She will come in the house but only on her terms, and she is by no means a lap buddy that will snuggle on the couch with you. Please consider that she is a good outside dog and would do great on a sprawling ranch or farm where she could be supervised. Victoria is micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $200. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) group, so all funds go right back into the care of these and future wonderful pups. Out of state adoptions are possible, however, you must be willing pay for the health certificate, if necessary and the transport fee. We do not personally transport dogs, therefore, are reliant on independent transport services. There is not always a transport available and it can be costly. You are always welcome to pick up your new family member. (Less)

I'm probably 7-8 years old, but who says you have to act your age? I'd rather act like a giant puppy than an older gentleman. I love attention and would like to be part of an active family. I can get real excited and forget my size and strength so probably no real little legged family members, but older kids would be great. I don't want to share my new family with another dog, I do okay with other dogs but I can be pushy if another dog tries to steal my spotlight too ... (Read More)much.     I am a very sweet girl who was found as a puppy wandering the streets. Someone quickly fell in love with me and took me home, but due to some unforeseen circumstances could not keep me and had to return me to the rescue group where I have been living for the past year. I love to play with other dogs, but i can get rough and loud, but it's all talk. I do not do well with small dogs or cats!! I am a very good girl and know some commands but am a little stubborn so you will have to work with me some more so that I remember what I am supposed too. I am currently about 2 1/2 years old and would love to find my forever home.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Alabama Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
