Buddy was found abandoned in Homer and has been in a foster home since February. He clearly has yellow lab in him, and has a very gentle mouth. He weighs about 52 lbs. and hasn't grown a whole lot in the past month. He's very affectionate and full of energy, needing regular exercise. He has great potential as a housepet and skijor or hiking and running companion, though he's only been let off-leash when in an area where we know he's safe. He is full of love for kids and other dogs, but is overly enthusiastic at this point and needs some training to curb his joy just a bit! He pulls in a harness, doesn't mind the sound of skis and wants ... (Read More)to be in the lead when in a group of dogs. He's extremely fast and coordinated for a puppy who is only around 7 or 8 months old. We've had him neutered in order to give him more options for homes, and would welcome some assistance with that bill if possible. We love this pup but can't keep him permanently due to having 2 old dogs already. We want to make sure he has a safe, loving and permanent home with an active person or family. Attila is a 4 1/2-year-old, very energetic, wonderful dog. He loves to play fetch and can handle just about anything if he has a ball in his mouth. He is very intelligent and loves to play, hike, swim, and just generally have a good time. We have not found anything that he has been unable to learn, as long as you can get through his anxiety/obsessive compulsiveness. He seems to struggle with male humans, but only with some, and he does great with everyone if he has a ball to keep him from nipping. After a few minutes he calms down and will play fetch with about anyone. He is very energetic when meeting new people and animals, and this ... (Read More)can make it difficult for the animals that he is meeting. He is generally untested with kids now, but has done great with them in the past, and we're sure that with some socialization and training he would do fine again. He has been on an anxiety medication for about three weeks (since 03/08/12), and it seems to be having a positive effect on him. He needs a home or a family that is stable and willing to work with him. He seems to do great when he is around other people, but for some reason he seems to feel that he needs to be dominant (with other people) sometimes when is with us. We have no doubt that he is a great dog, we just have not been able to provide him the stability or socialization that he requires. We love him very much and will give his crate, blankets, bones, toys, leash, harness, bark collar, medication, and everything that he has and has needed with us. We just want him to go to a good home that will love him as much as we do, and that can work with him and give him the life that he deserves to have. (Less) Kenai Peninsula Borough Seward, AK MAP IT!

I have a beautiful lab and pitbull mix, male dog who has been a part of my family for the last 4 1/2 years. I cannot figure out why he is aggressive with some dogs and not with others. He is great at the dog park, and in open spaces with other dogs. His problems arise when he is in close spaces (such as sharing a home) with another dog. He is a very good dog, and can be left unsupervised for hours. I have him scheduled to be euthanized on the 27th of this month. It is an extremely hard decision for me and I am doing it as a last result as I don't have any other options at this time. Anchorage Municipality Anchorage, AK MAP IT!

Lab Dogs can make good pets in Alaska if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.
