Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our stunning Lucy is a blast of cool air on a hot summer night. She really grabs your attention. This magnificent one and a half year old black Labrador Retriever came to us from an Animal Control facility, where she spent some time after having been picked up as a stray. She was thin and gaunt when she entered the shelter system and took some time to adjust to her harsh surroundings. When Lucy came to our rescue, she was a wild child, a Black Beauty, in need of some firm, loving leadership. In no time, Lucy has developed into a canine thoroughbred brimming with potential. An energy match is key to Lucy's happiness. She is a high energy, ... (Read More)athletic dog who needs a lot of outdoor exercise. She would gleefully keep rigorous pace with an avid runner, hiker or powerwalker, and seems to thrive in the brisk country air. In foster care, Lucy has been trained to pull her handler on a skateboard in full harness gear. They do countless gleeful laps up and down our quarter mile ski slope driveway. Lucy loves any creative challenge that stimulates mind and body. Lucy is a natural at obedience work. She knows all her basic commands and has passed many of the Canine Good Citizenship tests. She handles beautifully on lead, and heels nicely. Lucy still needs some polish on her stranger manners, since she may still greet someone new with an enthusiastic two paws on the shoulder 'hello'. And a suprise like that from 58 pound Lucy, could be a shock to the system. In the hands of motivated adopters, Lucy will become a fantastic, well behaved companion. Lucy would fare best in an adult home, with adopters experienced in handling large, active breeds. Lucy would overwhelm toddlers and seniors. She could easily join a multi-dog home, with another active, well trained dog, but sometimes, unruly and ill mannered dogs press her buttons. We have not had her around cats, but she would most likely chase them beyond their tolerance level. Lucy has respectable house manners and is mostly housetrained. She will need some finetuning on her potty routine as she transitions to a new environment. Lucy is in good health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, bordatella, and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). She has also received the lyme and canine vaccinations and has been boostered as appropriate. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed, and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in Lucy, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636. Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Max is a Lab mixed with a larger breed (unknown). He was found on the streets when he was about 11 months old. He was out on the streets for a while and a couple of street pitbulls were picking up fights with him. When we picked him up, he had just been on a fight and he was pretty beaten up. Despite everything, he was always very playful and very easy to get along with (either humans or other dogs). We have not seen him around cats, so we don't know what he would do, but he does well with other dogs. He is now around 14 months, so he enjoys the company of other playful dogs. He is around 80 lbs and likes to eat about anything. ... (Read More)Although we have not had much time to teach him tricks, he seems to be smart and eager to please. He enjoys fetching. Max does well on a leash and would love a family to keep up with his active schedule. Max currently lives in a foster home in Texas and will be transported to you through Rescue Road Trips. The fee includes the adoption and transport fees. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-07-00114Applemint (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Applemint is a spectacular creature, brimming with pride, confidence and panache. Three years old, she came to us from an overcrowded Animal Control Facility, after spending some time on the city streets as a stray. Applemint was pulled from the adoption program after she caught the custonary shelter "cold," and was greenlighted for euthanasia. We were called after another rescue group backed out on her. Applemint displayed the typical stress that plagues shelter dogs as they adapt to the rescue process. She tested slightly nervous, but quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. She has blended beautifully into her bustling ... (Read More)foster home, and a delightful, playful personality has emerged. Applemint is a medium sized dog, on the petite side. She is an extremely manageable 28 pounds, and is a good choice for the apartment dweller, who prefers large dogs, but is limited by size restrictions. We believe her to be an an interesting mix of Australian Shepherd and Labrador Retriever. Applemint has a medium length, lush, blue-black coat, with a slight fringe to it. She has petite white socks. And then, there's that irreverent, zig zag white stripe that marks her chest, as if to scream, "I'm Fabulous"! Applemint would be the ideal choice for an active single or couple, who have some experience with rescue dogs. A personality match will be key in her case, because she is a true Alpha Diva, who needs strong leadership and an adopter willing to pursue her obedience work and make the proper correction, when needed. Applemint would most likely run roughshod over small children and cats, but she'd fit in nicely to a balanced, multi-dog household, with well trained, calm dogs. Exercise and obedience work should be key components in Applemint's lifestyle. She loves the outdoors, and as a probable mix of herding and gun dog breeds, Applemint needs an active lifee, with lots of action or outdoor adventures that challenge her physically and mentally. She could be an Agility or Obedience Trial Champion, and has already begun to grasp the beginning stage of the Canine Good Citizenship program. Applemint has demonstrated unbelievable potential. Adopters could easily get her ready to pass the exam in no time at all. Applemint has good house manners, rides well in the car, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should have appropriate expectations of rescue dogs, whose house training mojo has been interrupted during the rescue process. Folks should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident as a Applemint adjusts to the new potty routine. Applemint is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Applemint, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-26-00467Flyer (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Flyer came into rescue quite by accident. He was originally owned by a band of Gypsies who were passing through a small Louisiana town when a rescuer spotted them. What caught her eye is that they were all on bicycles and one was towing a Red Flyer wagon with an unrestrained gangly puppy inside. When she chided them for subjecting the puppy to the dangers of street traffic, they asked her to take him as he was rapidly outgrowing the wagon. She did and brought him to the shelter where he was named Flyer after the wagon he spent so much time in. Luckily for Flyer, he is in foster care, where he spends his days playing in a large yard with ... (Read More)other dogs, both large and small. He has boundless energy and will definitely need daily walks plus some hikes and yard play in his new home. He does walk well on a leash, though his curiosity oftentimes distracts him (see video). He likes to play with toys, both fuzzy and squeaky, but he is not a retriever. Since Flyer is now approaching maturity, he should not get much bigger than his current frame and weight (75-80#). He is still enough of a puppy, however, to soak up new experiences and training to make him a valuable member of any family. He may be too big and puppyish for small children.
