She is only SIX MONTHS old, so she just started learning basic commands & doesn't do her needs inside the house at all !!! She's used to being in a crate to sleep at night and when there's no one home. She is very playful and active, therefore we are looking for a family, preferably who doesn't have any other dogs since she becomes too hyper around them but either way she gets along with both cats and dogs. Since she's a PUPPY her instinct is to chew on everything but she's a good listener and learns quickly. I have to add that she was for two weeks up north at Tamarac city, Fl in a foster home, I took her back last Sunday since she was behaving extremely hyper, she came back with white spots in her coat so I took her to the vet next day, the doctor said she got very stressful so she got DEMODEXIA, skin disease, NOT CONTAGIOUS! and she is under antibiotics right now for 30 days, her next visit will be June 3rd, as you see I can not make her go through more hard times at all! That family has a 5 years old dog who of course likes to play for a while but needs his quiet time as well, Millie doesn't know when to stop so she became an annoying sister, is why I am asking for somebody who doesn't have other pets but her if willing to foster her or adopt her.She had been through a LOT! I found her stray in Homestead, Fl, when she was just 5 months old! Being the only one, doesn't matter if you have cats, she behave perfectly fine! she is an adorable girl. Lola is an extremely friendly and loving dog. We have had her since she was 6 weeks old. She is a lab mutt with a dark Chow tongue. She is now 3 1/2. She is an indoor dog that loves walks and spending time outside. She is house broken and eats dry dog food. She gets along very well with other animals and loves to play. She gets along with older children, but recently had a bite incident with our younger child that required hospital intervention. Although the incident was isolated and not entirely the fault of the dog, we are too hesitant to keep her knowing that in a house with young children an 'accident' could happen when our backs are ... (Read More)turned. We are taking appropriate precautions with children while Lola remains to live here. She needs to be respected for the animal that she is. The only reason older family members of ours can not take her is because they are retired and travel too much. Everyone that knows us loves this dog, unfortunately no one is willing to take on the commitment that owning a dog requires. If our children were older, I would keep her in a heart beat. We will only adopt her to perfectly screened homes. She deserves excellent treatment and care and we will not make the decision to give her way hastily. Gilmore is a lab mix estimated to be about 1 1/2 old, and weighs about 60lbs. Gilmore was really shy with us at first, but boy has he come out of his shell. He is very fun, LOVES TOYS, and likes to play ball. Gilmore is very good on a leash, and has done very well with other dogs. We are not sure with cats. We haven't had him around kids yet, but we don't think he would have any issues. He is very friendly, awesome dog. Puppies don't come pre-trained, the will chew things, they will have accidents in your home, they will possibly cry when left alone, but they outgrow all of this and benefit greatly from training. About 2-3 years old, I was told they were from the same litter which is a little hard to believe since apart from their color and loving personalities they look nothing alike! They're the best of friends, always playing and jumping around with each other, sleeping together and looking out for one another. Both are 22 lbs (last time weighed), microchipped, all shots up to date, came out heartworm negative and are currently on prevention. My husband first spotted Skywalker trying to cross a car filled street in our neighborhood and decided to follow him to help him, Sky led him to Leia and they both led my husband to a house where a woman ... (Read More)told him they were strays but then admitted they were hers but she didn't want them and animal services couldn't catch them. My husband decided to return the next day with leashes and kennels in order to get them, I went along to help. We were able to catch them in less than five minutes, easily, which for a couple of kids is hard to believe. The woman's son, the owner of both dogs agreed to release them to our care so that we could find them a good home, the man did not even have names for these babies. When we first got home I spotted that both dogs were covered in fleas so the first step of business was to give them a flea bath, they reacted like they'd never been bathed in their lives and from the strays I've rescued before, these two were by far the dirtiest. Once we got rid of the fleas, and got them on prevention they were still afraid of us. It wasn't until 3 or 4 days that they finally warmed up to us and saw we meant no harm. A week after we decided to take them to a shelter near us, Humane Society of Greater Miami where they unfortunately were turned down for two reasons, the shelter was at full capacity and when we told their story we were advised to keep them in a home in order for them to get better, since a shelter wouldn't be ideal to help their behavior. They agreed the dogs were adoptable and covered all vet care for them, putting us in charge of fostering them and finding them a home. From that moment on, all our energy went towards socializing these dogs, training them and helping them see not all humans are the same. Sky and Leia have never showed any sign of aggression towards anyone, instead they'd get very timid and coward their tails down. Its been two months we've had them under our care and these tails have gone from being down to always wagging around from happiness. These past months have been all about taking them to the park with other dogs, walking them around, housebreaking them, teaching them commands and discipline. So far Leia and Sky know sit, stay, heel and Sky knows down also. They never do their business indoors, and finally know how to eat out of a food bowl. Both dogs are good with other dogs, same size or smaller; they sometimes get frightened when bigger dogs come around and will most likely want to walk away. I've seen them around small kids (7/8yearolds) that were at the dog park, and they were perfectly fine. The one thing to watch for is fences though, both dogs fit into the 'small dog' park because of their weight, and those fences are usually not that high so they would always jump from big dog to small dog park. If a prospective owner lives in an apartment, they're perfect, they never bark, I don't even know what they sound like, and Leia is crate trained for when left alone, we like to tie up Sky since we don't have an extra kennel, he's good tied up (indoors always); to keep them active their walks to go to the bathroom are fine, and a visit to the park in the weekend will wear them right out. If you live in a house, you'd have to make sure the fence is at least 6ft tall and there's no objects that can help them climb it, including gates which should always be kept closed when they're outside. They've lived with us and know how we work, but these two still like to fend for themselves so they should always be kept an eye on when outside. A little more about their personalities, Skywalker is the people person, or should I say dog. He will open up to strangers easier, always have his tail up and once he knows you, usually take 2 minutes, he will let you pet him and will always ask for more, He loves scratches behind his ears, and belly rubs are always his favorite. He loves eating, so his eating habits must be controlled. Treats are always welcome on his side, he loves milk bones, small ones. He's so playful, sometimes too playful so when given a command you should always put on a serious face and a stern voice to show him you're serious. Please only serious inquiries. Considering splitting them up to better their chances at their forever home,serious inquiries only.I can only help them until May 18th since my tight schedule doesn't allow me any more,if no adopter or rescue is found I'm afraid I will have to surrender them to MDAS where they don't stand a chance.
