Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Location: Chicago, IL, 60651 Type of Pet: Dog Breed: Chocolate Lab/American Staffordshire Terrior Age: 1-2 yrs Color/Coat Type: Brown with white bib Size: 66 lbs Health Issues: No Behavior Issues: No MooShu is: Neutered, Microchipped, House Broken, Leash Trained MooShu gets along with: Adults , Older Children MooShu is such a sweetie. Aside from looks, this is how we know he has some chocolate lab in him. He is a social pup that like to be included. We recently moved out of our physical location and he was there with us the whole time. Walking back and forth with us, laying down, playing, learning new trainings from ourselves and other ... (Read More)dog owner friends. Best way to describe this dog is happy. Always happy. He lets you know when he needs to go out. He loves kisses so much that we named him MooShu which means 'kiss, kiss'. He thinks he's a lapdog and particularly likes female humans, although he likes everyone. Also, rides well in the car. We found MooShu as a stray in the city. He was running around and was very skinny, had fleas, and no microchip. Three sets of neighbors (including ourselves) got him on a leash to have a place to sleep. Since then the three parties have been paying for him to be checked up at the vet, have paid for his shots, flea treatment, food, crate, bones and leash. He has been neutered, received all shots, heart and flea treatments/medications, and a good bath. We put him on Lost Dogs of Illinois and have had no response. He didnt look very well taken care of, but was such a sweet pup at the time that we all decided to help in rehoming him. We are the household that offered to home him for now because we have a large enough house. The other neighbors either have 3 dogs, or cats. MooShu is now ready to move out of his foster home and into his FURRever home. We would keep him, but we have a little furry kitty named Kyanite, and they don't get along. Like most terrier type dogs, he runs after her when she is around. We are currently keeping them in separate rooms as we foster him back to health and rehome him. lab-american-staffordshire-terrier-mix-for-adoption-chicago MooShu comes with dog crate and behaves very well once he is in it. He is house trained and will not poop or pee inside. He is a very chill dog when given the attention. We often talk about how he would be a great porch dog on some property. We walk him 2-4 times a day and then other than that he kinda just hangs out with us. Again, we love this pup, but are not able to be good dog owners. We work from home, then travel a lot for extended periods of time. Kitty life is much more manageable for us and we want to be able to hang out with our kitty more in all parts of our house. All Current shots with Anti-Cruelty Society Paperwork Comes with crate, food, harness, leash, and free animal communication session (if you're into that). (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS* Hi there, I am Miss Penelope, and if you are looking for a walking buddy and a cuddle bug, I am definitely the sweet girl for you! I am a one-of-a-kind 3-year-old, 55-pound Boxer/Labrador mix, and my beautiful good looks will definitely help us stand out when we go for a stroll in the neighborhood. Everyone will stop you to say 'Wow, what a gorgeous doggie you have!' and they would be right. I am a brindle beauty, which is basically like a really unique tie dye pattern! I also have a white chest and paws, so I look like I am ... (Read More)dressed up for a party. My deep chocolate eyes are very soulful and all you have to do is look into them to see how much I truly adore you. Because as pretty and special as I am on the outside, my personality is even better! And best of all for you: I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. Fetching Tails saved me as part of the Chicagoland Rescue Intervention & Support Program (CRISP); my previous owners couldn't keep me any longer and brought me to Chicago Animal Care & Control. Thankfully FTF volunteers were there that day to help prevent owner surrenders from having to go inside the busy, loud shelter, and I found rescue immediately. My foster mom has been treating me like a princess ever since. I love going for long walks to explore the big, wide world. I would love a family that will take me on lots of adventures so we can stay healthy and fit together! I love all people, especially children, so I would be an excellent family dog. But I would prefer to be your one and only furry friend; I like to be the queen of the castle and have all your attention focused on me! I am also a very smart girl; I am crate and potty trained. I can be left alone for a long time without getting mischievous; foster mom can leave me for 8-10 hours when she has to go to work and I am perfectly behaved while she is gone. And I even know a few commands including sit, stay, paw, down, and come. I love to learn new things; Fetching Tails likes to encourage adopters to take their new pets to a few training courses, and I think it would be great fun to learn even more tricks! Does a sweet, beautiful love bug who also enjoys being your workout buddy sound like the perfect companion for you? Get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails as soon as possible and tell them you want to give Miss Penelope a happy tail! Love, Miss Penelope If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us!     Hi. My name is Kaleb. I am a 10 month old Great Pyrenees mix. I am from Kentucky, but now I live with a foster family in Illinois. They have two other dogs for me to play with and they even brought my sister, Kynlee, home with them to stay too! I weigh 60 pounds and am still growing! My foster mom says I am a gentle boy who loves to cuddle. But sometimes I don't sit still for very long. I like to walk around and see what everyone else is up to. I am house broken and crate trained. I do very well in my crate and I sleep in there through the night. My foster mom says I am a chewer, but she puts a lot of toys throughout the house ... (Read More)that I can chew. She says I am not aloud to chew the socks that I find. I also like to sneak my toys outside sometimes and hide them. But my foster mom has extras so I always have something to chew in the house. I also love to play tug with a rope with the other dogs or with a human. Meet Kaleb! Great Pyr/ Lab Mix 10 months old I get along well with other dogs, but I don't know how I would act if I saw a kitty. I love walks! My foster mom says I walk very well on a leash. I like to stay very close to whomever is walking me so I will usually walk against their leg. I also love treats! My foster family tries to tell me to sit before they give me a treat, but I don't always understand it. I am getting better though. I love to be next to people. I love to curl up on the couch or lay by their feet. My foster home also has three children ages 5-12 and I am very gentle with them. Also, I am a big fan of belly rubs!!     Hey everybody! Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Cortez, I'm a 5 year old Retriever Mix and I need some help. You see, I've had quite the rough life and I can't seem to catch a break. I was originally rescued by PACT when I was only a young pup and was adopted out rather quickly to what was thought to be my forever home, well until it wasn't. I have a hard time explaining to people what happened to me (ya know, with the language barrier and all) but what they do know is that I was found roaming the streets, trying to survive on my own when animal control came around and scooped me up. I spent a long time in that noisy cage and was ... (Read More)happy to be saved and brought back to my original rescuers. They got me back on my paws and into another home but I need a little more attention and space than they can provide for me so it's time to find my forever human now. I'm a really sweet, laid back buddy and really need a great, experienced family to get to know me and be my forever. I'm strikingly handsome, kind of a goof, and know some 'commands' (I just call them cool tricks!) like sit, stay, lay down, and may FAVORITE roll over! I also LOVE to run and sniff EVERYTHING, so I'd really like a yard to play in and maybe even a running buddy. I can't really explain to everybody what happened to me during all those years but I do know that sometimes little kids scare me and I'd rather have older siblings or be an only child (I hear they get lots of treats and don't have to share!). I also am still working on trusting furry friends again so I'd do better in a home, where the only fur on your pants is mine smile emoticon:) I know there are tons of dogs and cats looking to make you their forever person but I'm really hoping you or someone you know can take a look at me and give me the chance I've been waiting for, for a long time. I don't want to be alone forever and miss out on having a family of my own. So please if you could contact adoptions@pacthumanesociety.org and ask about me, I'll promise to love and slobber on you FOREVER! Love, Cortez (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there! My name is Tess, and if you are looking for a cuddly, cute puppy to call your new sweetheart, I am the girl for you! I am a gorgeous four-month-old black lab mix and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! Look into my big, beautiful eyes and try not to fall in love too fast! I am a fun-loving girl, and I am looking for a family who will enjoy lots of playtime and all the joy I have to offer. Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from a local shelter where I was left behind by my previous owners. ... (Read More)But I am having the best time in my foster home now so that is all that matters! My foster mom has two big dogs for me to play with, and I love to romp and roll around in the yard with them. I also have a 14-year-old human sibling and nothing makes me happier than cuddling with him while I provide lots of sweet puppies kisses. I would love to have a fenced yard at my forever home in which to play; I could happily roll around in the grass for hours if given the chance. But when it is time to relax, I love to roll around on my favorite blankie for a while before falling asleep for my nap. I don't think I ever had a blankie before coming to Fetching Tails, and I really love to cuddle with one now! I am very smart already, too. Foster mommy is teaching me some basic commands including sit and down, and I have already figured out potty training! For my age, that is pretty impressive, don't you think? I go to the door to let foster mommy know I have to do 'my business.' I am also crate trained; in fact, I even like going in my 'doggie cave' to relax even when the door is left open! I also enjoy long walks around the neighborhood and walk pretty well on a leash already. Of course, being young I still have lots to learn about the big, wide world; Fetching Tails Foundation requires all adopters of puppies to sign up for training classes to help us start our long, happy lives together right. I love to learn, so I think taking some classes together would be great fun, and I am sure we would be on the honor roll in no time! When I think about my forever family, I think I would do great with a family with human kids of all ages. And if you have a dog or two for me to be best buddies with, that would be swell, too! I hope my forever family has lots of toys for me that we can play with together in the back yard (my favorite toys include stuffed animals, Kong toys with treats inside, fluffy balls to chase, and ice cubes!) If you think you are the family for me, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails today and let them know Tess is the girl for you! Puppy kisses and cuddles, Tess Please read all adoption requirements and adoption fee's below! *TRAINING IS REQUIRED! THE PUPPY MUST BE SIGNED UP FOR TRAINING AFTER 14 DAYS OF THE ADOPTION! WE WILL NEED TO SEE PROOF* If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements(No exceptions): *Be at least 21 years of age *Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border *Training is required for any of our young puppies *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)

At the time, she was the only one left out of the litter, and we thought we were gettting ready to move to a home in the country where she could run. Unfortunately, I got divorced and was left with all of the animals. I would really love to see her get a good home, where she can have attention.     DOB 4/14/16 Calling all big dog lover families! I'm Harley, a big boy already weighing in at 41 lbs. Everyone who meets me says I have the most adorable ears, they have ever seen! I was rescued from Kentucky, after being dumped at a high kill shelter. My breed guess is Lab/Hound Mix, maybe some Basset since my siblings have very short legs. My foster mom is always laughing at me, since I have these long legs, and at that clumsy stage. Being a big goofball, I still think I am a lap dog and LOVE attention from everyone. Always being up for playing with a ball or a game of fetch, I would love a active family that likes to play. My ... (Read More)foster mom says I am really smart and catches on to training quickly. Since I already knowing 'sit', 'off' and 'no', housebroken currently without any accidents, I agree! I have mastered walking on a leash, and would make a great walking companion.     MEET ADRIAN! She is a sweet and loving 5 month old black lab mix. Adrian has overcome so many obstacles since she began living with us. When we first got Adrian she was scared of the world around her and unsure what life would bring her. We showed her love and affection and through some patience she has learned so much. Adrian LOVES going on walks and to the dog park, especially dog parks with water so she can swim. Oh yes, she LOVES the water! Adrian enjoys chasing a ball, which is her absolute favorite toy in the world. She is a chewer and is beginning to learn the difference between her toys and people stuff. A quick 'NO!' and she ... (Read More)immediately will stop what she is doing. She will learn anything for a treat, I mean anything! She knows sit, stay and 'give me paw'. She really enjoys watermelon treats while playing outside. I definitely feel the best place for Adrian is somewhere that has a fenced yard. She has a LOT of energy and absolutely loves to play. She gets along great with all dogs and children big and small. I have taken her to several dog parks and there have been no issues. Adrian is very quiet. The only time I have known her to bark is when she wants to play. She will whimper in her crate when she needs to go out, however, when she is out freely in the house she will not yet 'signal' to go out. We are working on teaching her the bell on the door signal. Adrian has a very rare form of Diabetes Insipidus which is maintained through eye drops she gets 2 times a day which will more than likely be lifelong. However there is a slim chance she will grow out of it. Adrian is beyond sweet. She will turn into putty once you begin to rub her belly or right behind her ears. She sleeps only in a crate. We have tried to spoil her and let her sleep in a bed with us, she just won't do it. She really enjoys being in her crate with a blanket over it. Adrian is a sweet and loving girl who deserves the very best. She will make a great family dog! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.     *MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (SUBURBAN CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* How you doin'? I'm Rusty, but my friends call me Love Muffin, and if you're looking for a handsome stud who will provide you with endless affection, I'm the dog for you! I am a 6-year-old reddish/gold colored Lab mix and I am looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. Not to sound vain, but I'm a pretty awesome guy. I don't know how I ended up all alone at a local animal shelter, but I was so happy when my new human friends at Fetching Tails came to save me. I have been loving life at my foster home. I am my foster dad's shadow ... (Read More)and love to follow him around. But my best friend in my foster home is the resident cat! That's right! If you have been searching for a long time for a dog that gets along with cats, I'm your boy! Nothing makes me happier than sitting by my feline friend on the couch. And boy do I have a happy-go-lucky personality! Since I am middle aged, though I have lively energetic bursts (especially when playing in foster dad's backyard) I also like to chill out and relax a LOT too! It's a nice balanced energy level, I think. I'm always happy to meet new people, and I like to bark and let other dogs know I'm here when I see them walking by the house. I'm a bit dog selective and picky about what canines I let join my squad; I love foster dad's female dog and we play great together, but I need proper introductions with other dogs to know that our energy and personalities are compatible. I am also potty trained and listen well to commands, including sit, down, paw, and 'come on' when foster dad wants me to follow him. Foster dad says I'm very well behaved in the house. I don't need to be crated when he is at work; I whine like a puppy a little when he leaves, but then I just lay around and wait for him to come home. When I think of my forever home, I'm not too picky. I think I would enjoy having a fenced yard to run and play in, and people who love me as much as I love them (so love me A LOT!) I would would be content as your one and only love muffin, but would be extra happy if you have a cat friend with whom I could cuddle! I do love food and especially treats, so hopefully my forever family will keep a hearty stock of cookies for me to enjoy. I'll even work for my treats; my favorite 'trick' is taking selfies! I love when my foster dad's adult daughter visits and pulls out her camera phone. Hey, I know I'm handsome and if you want to take a picture to show your friends what a good looking fella I am, I am happy to make a goofy smile! So what are you waiting for? I sound like Mr. Wonderful, right? Right! So hurry up and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation today; tell them the love muffin Rusty sent you! I can't wait to start our life together! Love, Rusty If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org if you have any questions please email us. Adoption Requirements: *Be at least 21 years of age *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Adoption Fees: Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-06-00302Bear (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] This is very hard for me...Bear, we think he is a Lab/Corgi mix (he is short) is needing a FUREVER HOME..., Bear is a really cool dog. Everyone that meets him, just loves him, he would love to be a lap dog....although he forgets he is over 45 lbs. I have been trying to find him a home for quite a long time, as he was dumped in my lap by a guy who was getting divorced and had to move...then when he did it was convenient that he could not have a dog any longer. Bear is a good dog, but really needs to have a different home he should be an only dog, he loves adults, older adults and teenagers, needs more personal ... (Read More)attention and freedom then I can give, he spend 23+ hours a day in his cage at my home. He is neutered, up on all of his shots, house broken, when he is the only dog....but will mark if others are in the house. He listens to most commands, and all things considered I love him, and this is breaking my heart. I have had many rescues in my home over the past few years, several papillons, a jack russell mix, 2 cocker mixes, and boston mix, and a 14+ lab that we took in almost 2 years ago, to spend the end of her life in my home. This breaks my heart, but he deserves love, he adores teenagers especially girls. Due to several reasons including personal health issues, I can't give him that. Bear should not be left free when know one is home as he will mark furniture( I believe he thinks he has been abandoned, when home alone not in the crate) , he loves his crate, has his meals in there and does not have accidents. I am gone 10 plus hours a day. He had seizures when we first got him (another thing he original owner 'forgot' to tell us) but we found he has a grain allergy, and since going grain free the seizures are no more. Being in my home, in a crate for so many hours a day, with zero exposure to possible furever homes is not fair to Bear, he deserves better...much better.... He does not show well in a group environment, we have tried to bring him to several adoption events, he barks and lunges at the other dogs, but once he is given a chance to meet the other dogs, all he wants to do his play, so one on one meets with people is important for someone to get to see who he really is. So by this weekend I am going to relinquish him to a local no-kill shelter, hoping he gets more exposure to find the right furever home, unless someone here can help him and consider adopting him. Lab    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Cash has a very sweet soul. He likes to roll on his back and have his tummy rubbed. He knows his basic commands of sit, down, stay. If you let him, he will crawl up on the couch and snuggle with you and will also, if invited, hop in bed with you! He loves his toys and carries them around with him wherever he goes! Cash needs a companion that will be home all day. He can get very anxious if there is a lot of commotion around the house, so he would do better with older children, and a quiet atmosphere. Cash would prefer to be an only furbaby. He loves getting all the attention! Not sure how he is with cats. Our wish for Cash is that he can ... (Read More)find a strong, compassionate owner (pack leader), who has the time to train him. He is very smart and knows right from wrong, but unfortunately, he has not had an owner who has been able to give him the time and love he so deserves and desires. Cash is 7 years old. (Less)

DOB 3/1/15 After seeing Minnie's shelter picture, we knew she needed out ASAP! She was so thin at only 25 lbs, and now after a lot of TLC from her foster, she is 40 lbs. Upon arriving on transport, she greeted everyone with tail wagging and kisses, she knew she was now safe. We think she might be lab/pit mix and about 1 yr old. After arriving at her foster home, she got to learn what being a puppy was all about, learning how to play and what a dog toy is. She has blossomed into a beautiful, happy, affectionate, active pup, who loves to go on walks. Minnie is not a fan of the crate, but doesn't need one since she does great without one. ... (Read More) Cuddling up with her foster family at bed time, is one of her favorite things. Since she was an outside dog, she had to learn about housebreaking. Rarely having any accidents, she is almost there. She enjoys, is playful with and friendly with other dogs, but prefers dogs that aren't dominant. Now that she has been shown what life should be like, she is looking for someone who is home most of the day and can get out and get her exercised. (Less)

Tiffany is the sweetest baby! The person who transported her to us from GA fell in love with her and, if he didn't have so many dogs of his own, would probably have kept her. That is how great this girl is. Tiffany is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and microchipped. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves people. She is a curious girl who likes to explore and lets her nose lead her. She is quiet - I did not hear her bark, whimper, or whine the whole half hour it took me to get her to her foster home. Tiffany is crate and potty trained. We are looking for an adopter that has another dog in the home - Tiffany needs the ... (Read More)companionship - and who enjoys an active lifestyle.     **URGENT!! SARGIE HAS BEEN STUCK IN BOARDING FOR OVER A YEAR AND RESCUE CAN NO LONGER PAY BILL TO KEEP HIM THERE.** Through no fault of his own, Sargie has had a rough past- given up and now placed in boarding. Sargie is a lover and cuddler. He is VERY food motivated and loves to please his handler. Sargie loves to go on long walks, runs, or hikes. He loves the water and the car. Sargie has amazing leash manners but is a bit hyper at first due to being in a kennel for several months. Sadly, Sargie received very little socialization and training in the 3 years he was living with his adoptive family, so Sargie has some fear issues that we ... (Read More)are working on. He needs a foster that has no other pets and no children. Sargie has begun training in our facility with their personal trainer. Sargie is such a good boy and does not deserve to be in boarding...but until we find proper foster placement, this is our only way to keep him safe. We are praying we can find a foster for him quickly...to bring the joy back in to his heart. (Less)

Tootsie is a handsome and dog-friendly three-year-old, 40-pound, male, fawn Lab / Shar Pei-mix looking for a loving guardian. Tootsie has the softest fur and gives his favorite people kisses. He knows the command sit and takes treats gently from your fingers. He would do wonderfully in a home with another dog since he is very playful. He was originally found stray with his sister who had been hit by a car. She lost one of her legs and has since been adopted. Tootsie would do best with teens and adults as he is a little nervous and is a flight risk. He's a smart guy who teaches himself how to open doors. When he settles down in a loving ...     This handsome boy was in a very high kill animal shelter and was going to be put down due to space. His family who had him left him there to die because he wouldn't stay home. He can jump a 4 foot fence, he no longer does here. They said he was 2 years old, he is now 3 years old. He has been waiting a year now for his very own home. He is black with a gray muzzle, and built like a husky, moves and acts like a husky and can yodel, but has semi floppy ears, weighs about 55 pounds, he was very skinny when we first rescued him. He is sweet, bold, and fine with most dogs, even small dogs. He loves attention once he know you but until then is very ... (Read More)indifferent and unsure. He has a more independent personality here where he only gets a bit of attention as he is let in and out to play in the yard from the kennel. He has little interest in cats. Crate trained, neutered, heart worm negative, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Current or recent past vets name and number, and contract is required to adopt.     Are you an athletic person who loves a nice solid outgoing dog? Tide is a very handsome boy, weighs about 70 pounds, about 1 year old, heartworm negative and current on all shots and health care. He is a very solid, fun loving, energetic dog who can wear out any dog here playing, except a pit mix we had who is also higher energy. At the same time when crated he is perfectly well behaved, quiet and calm. He loves to sniff about and seems to have potential for a search and rescue dog or something to use his skills to advantage. Plus he is a very confident dog and loves to hop in the car, or go anywhere you want to go which would be perfect for ... (Read More)a working dog. He is crate trained, never potties in the crate or kennel. He was rescued from a very high kill shelter in AL, where many dogs never make it out. I seen his face and just didnt want him cut short when hes still a pup with SO much potential! He will need exercise to be a good dog, either playing with another dog (med or large he loves to rough house with them!) or jogging, agility, tagging along a bike. This dog is athletic and needs an active family, no couch potatoe here (although after play time I am sure he would love couch time!!) He knows sit and he loves attention. His favorite thing other then playing is to flop over on his back so you can rub his belly! He wants to meet anyone who has visited and so many people have been very impressed with how handsome he is, but they were wanting a small dog. I havent worked with him much at all but he does learn fast! Please email for more photos he is solid built and acts very much like a lab! Contract and vet reference required to adopt.
