Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

**URGENT!! SARGIE HAS BEEN STUCK IN BOARDING FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND RESCUE CAN NO LONGER PAY BILL TO KEEP HIM THERE.** Please read entire post if you might be able to help! Sargie was born into our rescue. At the age of 8 weeks Sargie ended up with Parvo due to cross contamination by his foster mom going to a shelter. Sargie made a full recovery and adopted out when he was 4 months old. Sadly, three years later his owners divorced and neither one of them wanted Sargie any longer. We did not have any open fosters so Sargie ended up in boarding. However he did find a wonderful foster. She fostered Sargie for just over six months. We knew ... (Read More)she was a short term foster, as she was moving out of state. She could not take Sargie and now he is back in boarding. Sargie is a lover and cuddler. He is VERY food motivated and loves to please his handler. Sargie loves to go on long walks, runs, or hikes. He loves the water and the car. Sargie has amazing leash manners but is a bit hyper at first due to being in a kennel for several months. Sadly, Sargie received very little socialization and training in the 3 years he was living with his adoptive family. Sargie has a lot of fear issues that we are working on. He needs a foster family that will work with us and our trainer to help him overcome his fear of new people. He needs a foster that has no other pets and no children under...he needs an ADULT ONLY foster. Sargie has begn training in our facility with their personal trainer and he is also on medication to help him get through this. This will continue in his foster home as well. Sargie is such a good boy and does not deserve to be in boarding...but until we find proper foster placement, this is our only way to keep him safe. Without us, he would have been taken to and have already been put down. It is the sad reality of today's world. We are praying we can find a foster for him quickly...to bring the joy back in to his heart. (Less)

Pal's Place had the mother dog spayed so the family could keep her and brought the puppies in to our rescue.Their mother was a Labrador mix and the father was a Shepher/Collie mix. There are 2 females(Arden/Anna) and 2 males (Auggie/Austin) in the litter and at 12 weeks old, they all weigh around 20 pounds, so we are expecting them to be larger sized dogs when fully grown. These little guys are super sweet and gentle ... (Read More)and get along well with everyone, children and other pets included! They love to play explore, but for pups their age, they are fairly mellow. They will make ideal family companions for any home with the time to raise a young puppy. They are very happy and wiggly pups making it difficult to get good photos of them, but we can assure you, they are all adorable! All of the puppies will have at least two series of puppy vaccines, and be spayed/neutered and microchipped before going home. The adoption donation per pup is $375 and it helps to offset their medical expenses while in our care. For more info or for an adoption application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com.     Isabelle is a lab/pitbull mix that has a lot of personality squeezed in a small package. She loves nothing more than to grab a toy and zoom full speed around the yard to show off for you. She loves attention and is very affectionate. She rides nicely in the car and is good for the vet. She is housebroken and loves kids.     Meet Max'| Max is a young adult believed to be approximately 2 years of age. He is a healthy beautiful boy. Max is believed to be a Catahoula or a Catahoula mix which we believe has contributed to Max being misunderstood. Max is shy and fearful upon meeting new people especially if he is in his dog kennel and someone new approaches. If Max feels threatened or approached too quickly by new people he tends to back up and growl. This behavior is very common in the breed as Catahoula's are very reserved with strangers and they are naturally protective. Catahoula's can be skittish when approached or handled by new people. Catahoula's are a ... (Read More)herding breed therefore they have a tendency to want to herd smaller animals and children that stand at eye level. (Again we urge someone to do research on this breed and become familiar with their traits). We believe Max would do better in an environment without small children for this reason. If given the proper understanding and patience, this breed'|and especially Max is affectionate and loyal once they have developed trust and a friendship with a handler. We have seen this with Max first hand. Max walks well on a leash and is learning basic obedience very quickly. Max loves to chase after tennis balls and loves being outside. Max also believes he is a tiny, cuddly lap dog and tries to snuggle with his favorite people. Our desire is for Max to be fostered or adopted by an individual that is willing to research this breed and give Max time and attention for him to overcome his fears and become an integrated member of their family. Max will require exercise preferably walks on his leash outside, socialization with a knowledgeable handler, affection, treats and a warm lap to watch TV on. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

**URGENT!! SARGIE HAS BEEN STUCK IN BOARDING FOR 9 MONTHS AND RESCUE CAN NO LONGER PAY BILL TO KEEP HIM THERE.** Please read entire post if you might be able to help! We knew she ... (Read More)was a short term foster, as she was moving out of state. ROR, KC (Less)

Ellie is a 6 month old puppy. I am unsure how she is with children as she has only been around adults. She is very loving, but a little shy. She is a great girl! She does require a fenced in yard. She is almost potty trained, but would do best in a home where someone could take the time to complete this process.     Reba is a five-year-old female Shar Pei-mix looking for a loving guardian. I'm not sure what Reba is mixed with '| but she is tall and slim, about 45 pounds, and runs like a greyhound! But she definitely has the wrinkly face, triangle ears and skinny little tail of a Shar Pei. She knows the command sit and takes treats gently from your fingers. She's also housebroken and crate-trained. She enjoys the company of most other dogs. Poor Reba was turned into Chicago Animal Care & Control when she was pregnant.     Hi, My name is BJ and I am a very handsome Lab mix looking for a very special furever home. I have some special requirements but they are all doable with the right person/family/home. I need a quite home with NO KIDS. If any kids would come to visit I would have to be in my crate the whole time they are there, so no kids is better. I also prefer men and can tolerate women. My ideal home would be with a man, who is loving, patient, and willing to understand and work with my insecurities, and no kids. I know it might be a lot to ask but I know my perfect furever home is out there somewhere. If you think I am the perfect guy for you please ... He will need exercise to be a good dog, either playing with another dog (med or large he loves to rough house with them!) or jogging, agility, tagging along a bike. PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Illinois
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
