Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

**** This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Waldo's Muttley Crew Animal Rescue. PLEASE EMAIL: Lisa@hotblownglass.com **** Smoke ...Sharpei/Lab Mix...remember, he weighs 100lbs. He lived with another male dog, prior to being surrendered. He also plays with a bordercollie/pitty mix that lives here in my studio. The redtick hound... she ignores him. He gets really excited on a first meeting with new people. But after familiar he is a great guy to walk and have around the house. Of course he is a very energetic guy at play time, but is also able to sit and camp out also when fun time is over. Smoke is a very joyful fellow. But when ... (Read More)he gets a little rowdy he is fairly easy to contain and redirect when done. He likes tugowar and ball. His snacks are mainly carrots and apples. He has Sharpei skin. Gets seasonal itchy skin and takes otc allergy meds when necessary. This addresses his Sharpei eye issue most of the time; the lid rolls in and cause a slight irritation. Smoke gets too excited around small children. He will do best will only teen older children. I think he will do best with an adult family. He requires calm, steady leadership. He is smart and wants to have full interaction with his family and wants to please and wants to play and have fun. I do not know if Smoke likes or tolerates cats? So, lots of cats passing by on walks, runs or anything? He likes couches! And soft beds! He is crate trained. He does still put his feet up to be taller on his crate and studio equipment, mostly to get a hug. A little bit of counter surfing happens if you leave dishes that need licked off. But he does not chew on anything other than his toys. As with all of my dogs, and him also since he is such a large fellow, I will be doing follow-up calls and text, to make sure everything is going well with him again, because he deserves it. Smoke is a big boy so the more room he has...the better. Loves to ride in the car! Thanks and send me any other questions you may have about Smoke or any of my other dogs. Lisa F. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-04-00716Vader (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Vader. This handsome guy was just at the apartment's weight limit when he was first adopted from the shelter. As he got healthier and filled out, he got too big for the apartment's rules. Vader is looking for a true forever home so that he doesn't have to move again. He is about 4 years old, 80 pounds, and is a mixed breed guy. Probably lab. In person he looks a lot like a flat-coated retriever. Yes, he has spots on his tongue which makes everyone think chow mix. However, keep in mind that many breeds can have those spots, but chows have them most often. Vader is very sweet and friendly. He is pretty calm in general, but loves walks ... (Read More)and to see new things. He goes to the dog park and likes to run with dog friends, but also likes to hang with the people. To our knowledge, Vader has never shared a home with another dog. He does guard toys and food from time to time, but has never been aggressive. He kind of treats his people the same way. He doesn't necessarily 'guard' his people, but he does attach himself to a favorite human and becomes a shadow. He is great with the kids he has been around which is about 8 and up. We do not recommend Vader go into a home with cats. Vader is neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and trustworthy not to bother things when left unsupervised. Vader hates to be crated. Even at the shelter he was kept in an office rather than a regular kennel. If you would like to meet Vader please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process and required prior to meeting a dog. If you have any questions, please email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com or find us on Facebook. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mocha. This sure is a pretty girl! Mocha is a 1-year-old lab mix. She looks like a very petite chocolate lab weighing about 45 pounds. Mocha is friendly, but not overly exuberant with strangers. With people she knows it's a different story. She is a happy-go-lucky bouncy sweetheart. Because of work, school and sports schedules Mocha is spending too much time crated while no one is home. Although Mocha is still very loved, the family feels the best thing for Mocha is to be in a home where she will get all of the exercise and attention she deserves. Mocha would love to go for regular walks or jogs. As she has matures, Mocha's energy ... (Read More)level has tapered off to a very manageable level. She loves to play with people, dogs, or toys, but also loves to cuddle. In fact, she sleeps in bed often under the covers with her people, kind of like a personal heater. Mocha has grown up with a dog buddy and would do well in a home with dogs and cats. She has been around small children but can jump with excitement from time to time, so kids who have to be steady on their feet or prepared for life with an peppy pup. Mocha is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and great in her crate. If you are interested in meeting Mocha, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-02-00324Aurora (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Aurora. We don't mean to make people angry or sad, but we want you to know Aurora and her story. We first met Aurora through a group of volunteers in Georgia who reach out to rescues across the country begging for help placing their dogs. There are tons of homeless animals, few resources, and even fewer great homes. Aurora once belonged to one of the worst. Aurora is about 6 years old and had at 10-11 litters according to the owners who surrendered her. Her belly sags and shows how rough life has been. When asked what her name was the owners simply said 'black dog'. That is enough to make you sad, but it gets worse. When Aurora went in ... (Read More)to to get spayed, it was discovered that her body is full of buckshot remnants. It was also discovered that she also has multiple BBs that can be felt from the outside. Then upon further inspection, we noticed she had broken her leg and never received proper treatment. It does get sore, but there isn't much to do for her. So, at this point, we are glad we never met the owners because we would have no words for them except maybe a thank you for surrendering her so that she can finally have a real life. However, it only gets worse. Aurora is also heartworm positive. Our heart aches for this girl. She is wonderful! She is a little shy, but so loves attention and affection. She is sweet beyond words and very gentle. She does great with other dogs and still likes to play. She is great with people of all ages, but would do best with a calm, loving environment. We don't recommend a home with cats. She is not aggressive, but does show quite a bit of intense interest. Her foster home keeps an eye on her. Aurora is looking for a foster-to-adopt home who will see her through her heartworm treatment. We take care of the expense, but we need a place for her to go. It would be preferred that she be in the home that wants to adopt her while she receives her treatment which will be at least a month long. Aurora is already spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped. She is solidly housebroken, but terrified of being crated. She is trustworthy in the home, so that part shouldn't matter. Aurora is a mixed breed girl--lab?, pit?, something else?. She only weighs about 45 pounds. If you are interested in meeting Aurora, please complete an application on our website www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. If you have any questions, please find us on Facebook or email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com. Aurora's adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Sylvester is an aprox. 9 year old male lab mix. He is a goofy looking boy with a long body and short legs. He can be a grumpy boy so would be best in a home without small children. He is very sweet and likes to be pet, but isn't one to be smothered. This sweet old guy just needs a nice place to lay his head. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption fee is waived for Sylvester. Can you find it in your home as well as your heart to open a spot for this senior?

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Alfie, the guy no one wanted, not even us. Typing this and admitting out loud that we didn't want Alfie makes us so sad, but it is the truth. We are swamped. We have people messaging us daily needing help, and we have no foster homes for the animals in need. And then Alfie entered our lives. As many of you know, we pull from IACC in Indy. Most dogs go to the adoption floor, some are rescue only, and a handful are labeled 'URGENT'. Those with the 'URGENT' label are the dogs who are facing euthanasia because of space. Last Sunday Alfie and two others were not only urgent, but given just hours to find a rescue to save them. Again, we ... (Read More)didn't want another dog. We didn't think we could handle it, and we were convinced that another rescue would step up. We waited, and waited, and waited. We had a great foster waiting in the wings, but even she didn't want Alfie; she already has a foster. Big Z's and Loving Heart (thanks, ladies!) stepped up for the other two. As midnight approached we were very nervous that Alfie wouldn't live another day. We caved and asked IACC to save him, but if someone else came forward wanting him, to give them the first choice. When we woke up the next morning, the news came that Alfie was safe and heading to PawSwaP. It became very clear to us why Alfie was the last one no one wanted as soon as we saw him. He is a nondescript, mixed breed, black dog. His nails were gnarly and his skin looked pretty bad. Who wants that? Well, after meeting Alfie, WE want that. We are so glad we saved this sweet, loving, calm, quiet, happy dog. He really is wonderful and was worth the save. We're just sorry we didn't speak up for him sooner. Alfie is a 6-year-old shar pei/lab mix. He was adopted from IACC in 2010, but the owners don't want him anymore. Clearly they either couldn't or wouldn't care for him properly. Alfie loves people. he would enjoy regular walks and play time. He is OK around calm dogs, but doesn't like anything young and/or spunky. Alfie is also fine with cats, maybe a little curious but otherwise just fine. We don't know how Alfie is with small children. We do know he would be fine with older children. Alfie is completely up to date on vetting--neuter, vaccines, microchip, and heartworm test. He is solidly housebroken and very quiet in his crate. If you want to help the dog that no one wanted please complete the adoption application in the link below. If you have any questions about our sweet Alfie, please send an email to pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Meet Cuda. He is a 5-year-old boxer/lab mix who needs a new forever home. He and his brother have been having scuffles lately and it has started to become more intense and more frequent as time has gone on. We cannot blame Cuda or his brother. They are two male dogs who, until very recently, were both intact. The decision was made that the pup who came last has to go. That is Cuda. When we first met Cuda, he was very nervous being in a strange environment around a lot of new people and doggy smells. As time went on, he loosened up and showed what a sweetheart he is. We do think he should be an only dog because of the situation with his ... (Read More)brother. We'll err on the side of cautious. Cuda has never lived with cats, but does want to chase the ones he sees outside along with rabbits and squirrels. Cuda has been around children of all ages and enjoys their company. We would like to see Cuda go to an active home where he can take walks or go on hikes; he is used to that. He would do best in a fenced yard because he loves to run. Cuda is very trustworthy in the home. He is currently restricted to one room when left unsupervised, but he could adjust to a crated lifestyle too. He is also solidly housebroken. Cuda is now neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If you would like to offer Cuda a forever home please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first step of the adoption process. If you have any questions, please find us on Facebook or email us at pawswapofgreaterlafayette@aol.com. Cuda's adoption fee is $150. (Less)

Meet Badger. This cutie is about 3 years old. He is an adorable mix of what we suspect is basset hound and pit/lab. Adorable is probably an understatement, and his personality is just as cute. Badger is super silly and happy to meet new people. He does jump some initially, but he quickly calms down. He loves to play and to be active, but he knows when enough is enough. He is calm and quiet when he needs to be. Badger is good with other animals who aren't tiny and furry, like rabbits, squirrels, or things that could be mistaken for rabbits and squirrels.     Gabbie is a wonderful dog. Potty trained and loves to play. Needs a good home with a family that can provide a safe and energetic environment. We're very sad to have to find her a new home but I have small children that are just too much for her to handle. Due to my college career, I was forced to move into university owned apartments that do not allow pets. We wanted to move in May but because the cost of living is so high here in Muncie, I am forced to keep my family where we're at. Since she isn't great with small children (never bit my kids or anything remotely close) the humane society wont take her and our only option is the pound, ... She does have issues with strangers, mainly at the door but only barks until told to stop. This is a trainable issue, if given some time and energy. Other than that, she is a super obedient dog. She will always be a part of my family but I realize that as my own family grows and I continue down different paths in life, that she deserves more. Let me know if you are interested. He is also scared of harnesses and leashes, but with some work we have managed to get him to wear both occasionally.     Hershey. 8 year old male Chocolate Lab. Housetrained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations. Hershey is such a gorgeous and sweet boy! He gets along great with all dogs. Hershey is bonded with Gretchen (a 2 year old Doberman Pinscher mix with our rescue) and they must be adopted into the same household. Gretchen is a bit timid and looks to Hershey for reassurance. Due to Gretchen's shyness, a home without small children would be best. If you are looking for two wonderful dogs that will keep each other company while you happen to be away, then Hershey and Gretchen could be for you!

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-31-00501Rottie (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

My name is Rottie. I am seeking that special forever home with a very special guardian who wants to give just that kind of home to a deserving animal. I am about 6-7 years old, a medium-sized Black Labrador and Rottweiler mix neutered male with current vaccinations and a negative heartworm test. My medium length coat is a glistening black except on my legs which lighten to a brown with some speckling. I do have a little arthritis but it doesn't bother me too much most days at the moment. I am a shy and quiet dog that lacks some much needed self confidence. Therefore, I retreat to the back of my kennel when strangers ... (Read More)approach and I do not engage with these same people when out on a leash. There may have been past abuse issues or poor socialization with humans but this is only speculation. But, I have gotten accustomed to the shelter staff and do pretty well with them. I have been at this shelter for a very long time. The staff do the best they can but there are so many other dogs and limited space and I have become just one of the many. I really do need a home to call my own. An adult family only would be best and someone with dog experience and a lot of patience. I need time, space, understanding, some positive reinforcement work, and lots of love. Contact the shelter to ask any questions you might have about me or to make arrangements to come for a visit. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00333Sunny and Share (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Sunny and Share were found in a ditch by the highway with their tiny puppies. Sunny and Share are one of our happiest success stories. They came to us terrified dogs, frightened of everyone and everything, unable to trust enough for any of us to approach and pet them. But with patient, persistent love, attention, good food and a warm bed, soft soothing voices and most of all Time, Sunny and Share are living up to her name. She has decided that whatever happened to them in the past is in the past, and their future is looking very bright. It is so great to see beautiful dogs who have had such a hard life finally become the playful, loving ... (Read More)companion they were meant to be. Our sweet Sunny and Share are still a little shy with people at first, esp. men, but now they make eye contact with people who come up to them, wags their tail and will allow even a total stranger to pet her. And for a patient person, they readily roll over with 'that look', which in dog language, is the universal sign for 'belly rub, please.' They save their kisses for people they deeply trusts, and when they gives you a kiss, you'll know you've arrived. They love car rides. Also loves hiking through the woods where it's calm and peaceful and their active labrador nose finds so many interesting things to investigate. In the house, they are getting used to the sounds of previously frightening appliances. And since being in an occasional foster home, Sunny has discovered the joy of being a couch-potato while watching TV. If kept to a routine, she is potty-trained. Sunny was originally found with our beautiful Share and the two are bonded. They love to play and romp together. For the longest time, Share was the only being Sunny trusted. But now Sunny knows that humans can be trusted to care for her, love her and allow her to be her sweet, happy self. Sunny and Share could be adopted together, but Sunny is also ready to be an only dog. She's ready to accept the forever home we've been promising her from her first terrified day with us. And the last piece of this puzzle is the special person who will adopt her and prove what she now knows...that she is safe and the world is full of love. p.s. And one more important piece of information: Sunny LOVES Pupperonis! (Less)
