Rescue Me ID: 14-11-14-00311Journey (female)

Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beautiful girl who was found wandering around never had anyone claim her. We have completed her vetting work and Journey is now available for adoption. Her age has been estimated at just a year. She is very shy. Based upon how she acts it would not come as a surprise if she has been abused. She is good with kids and adults. She is eating well and will put back on the weight she needs. She is slowly starting to trust the staff with touching her and petting her. She still is not happy when you try to put a lead on her and take her anywhere (even just to the outside). She has not had one accident inside at all so apparently she was ... (Read More)housebroken prior to coming to us. What does Journey need in a home? She needs a home where she can learn to cuddle up and be loved. She needs a home where she can feel secure and not feel threatened with being abandoned. A fenced in yard would be best as it will take her a while to get through her fear of being on a leash. We have little doubt that without a fenced in yard she will bolt the first time she gets scared. We believe she has probably been tied up quite a bit as she has an indentation around her neck which appears to be from some sort of lead she was tied out with. She doesn't carry a lot of coat so she will need to be an indoor dog. We believe she would be fine with another animal in the home. We are confident she will do great with kids. If you are the right home for Journey and you are interested in this beautiful baby - please submit your adoption application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-14-00210Jax (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jax is a BIG boy (He was also said to be a Lab/ Dane, but is blocky body screams Rottie) He is a great dog unless you pent up his energy (like any dog this can lead to unwanted behavior) Jacks seems to want to play with other dogs but can be dominating. Hes great with kids and people. Jax is uesed to having a fenced in yard and needs the room to run around he's only 2 1/2 yr old so with training he would make a good farm pooch too :) If you would like to give Jax a great life with your family please contact us for a adoption application :)

My name is Dasher and as my name implied I am very busy and dash around from place to place. I am probably a Rottie/Lab mix. I am not a very tall dog. I'm about two years old - I have been neutered - current on all my shots and ready for a family to fall in love with me. I get along well with other dogs and kids.

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-11-00414Cutie (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We are calling this guy Cutie. He is about a year and a half old. He is a lab mix (probably mixed with Border Collie). He is drop dead beautiful but is apparently a hand full. TONS of energy - all play, play, play. We were stunned when we were informed this baby has been in five homes in the past two weeks. People just keep dumping him on the free pet sites. We have to ask if anyone ever does research before they get a dog as to the characteristics of the breed(s). Labs are all puppy for at least two years - border collies are high energy for most of their lives. Add those two together and what do you get - basically a lab on steroids. But ... (Read More)come on, five homes in two weeks - this poor baby doesn't know if he is coming or going. This boy needs a job. He needs to do something that will keep him occupied. We can all join together and find this guy a REAL forever home. He is SUPER friendly - just all puppy. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-09-00631Ida (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Ida, and I am looking for my perfect family. I love to run and play, love to have someone around me, people-wise, to make over me, and show me how wonderful I am. I spend my days lounging, running in the sun, playing, and asking for everyone to show me that I am wonderful. I love to play with boy dogs, they understand me and are fun. Girl dogs worry me a bit, I like to be the boss. No babies for me, I believe in spay and neuter programs, it keeps us dogs out of the milk bone support system. I have too much fun to be saddled with little demanding creatures.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-02-00308Antonio (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Antonio is about a year old and he is a Shepherd mix - not a very big boy - and even the Shepherd is questionable but whoever adopts him can do a DNA test to confirm parentage. He would do best in a home with another dog. He got along great with other dogs when he was here before and we saw no signs of destructive behavior but we did not put him in a crate - he is in a kennel where he has plenty of room to move around in and he had company. No issues with housebreaking - just tearing stuff up when they would leave him out of his crate - and tearing his crate up if they left him in the crate. If you have another dog and would like a real ... (Read More)sweetheart in your life, come out and meet Antonio. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Shadow and I am now a guest of Patriots. I will be two on Halloween. I am a lab mix and am a pretty big girl. I am looking for a home with plenty of room to run. I was housebroken but lately my old family reports I have forgotten part of what I have learned but if you spend a little time with me it will all come back. I know my basic commands and I love to run with a bicycle or if you want to jog then I am your girl. I am spayed, microchipped and all of my shots are current - what I need is an active home with lots of attention otherwise in typical lab fashion I get in trouble when I am bored.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Iowa
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.
