Lab    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Riley and I am looking for a home to love and care for me for my senior years. I am a Chocolate Lab who will be 9 in April. Don't let my age fool you - I am very active. I do well with kids as long as the aren't infants and cry all the time. I really haven't been around many other dogs so we would have to try it and see if we get along. I will chase stray cats. They are faster than me so not sure what I would do with them if I actually got one. I am very proud of the fact that I am fully housebroken and love to snuggle up on a couch. If you give me a little play and running time I will be the best cuddle partner you could ever ... (Read More)find. I am neutered, current on all of my shots and will be micro-chipped before I leave Patriots. My adoption fee is only $50.00 to cover the costs of my chip and shots. Not a lot for this much lovin! Rescue Me ID: 16-01-31-00541Peanut (female)

Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Pregnant

The VERY pregnant mom we got in yesterday morning is named Peanut. She is out with Addie to whelp her puppies and we are positive Addie will take great care of Peanut and her babies. As you can see from the picture - she is indeed VERY pregnant. Since we don't have any information on when she got pregnant or who the dad or dads were - we will have to wait and see when she delivers and what she delivers. We can tell you she appears pretty uncomfortable. Unfortunately she ended up in a shelter that was short on space and was not even willing to put a lot of time and effort into her and she would have been put down. Knowing it was risky to ... (Read More)bring her on our transport Thursday night but her alternative was absolutely no chance at life for her or her babies - we decided to take the risk and bring her here to Iowa. She made it safe and sound - yes uncomfortable - but very much alive and most definitely better off than she would have been today had we not brought her along. We got this update from Addie on Peanut and we are confient that Addie will keep us updated on her progress. She reminds me a lot of taya. She loves kisses and to give kisses. Gets aong great with dogs and cats. She is afraid of the tile floors. She is 100 percent housetrained. She is just an awesome girl. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This handsome boy is Dudley, a 7 year old Chocolate Lab who weighs 55 pounds. He came to us from a small no-kill shelter where he spent a year waiting for someone to love him. Dudley cowered in his kennel and didn't interact with anyone during that time. Dudley is now in a foster home with 3 other dogs and 2 cats who are doing a great job of teaching Dudley how to be a normal dog. For weeks Dudley watched the other dogs play from the safety of his crate but didn't want to come out and interact. Dudley now happily plays with the other dogs, he even does the play bow to initiate play with them. Dudley loves his fenced yard to run and play ... (Read More)in. He likes to chase and be chased by his dog buddies. His forever home needs another dog for him to play with. Because Dudley had very little human contact for a long time he can be shy at first. He does warm up quickly and has learned humans serve a useful purpose, they can scratch his rump where he can't reach and talk to him and tell him what a good boy he is. Dudley now seeks the attention and affection of humans. Dudley is kennel trained and views the kennel as his safe place. He never makes a mess in his kennel when his foster mom is at work. Dudley's housetraining is coming along but not perfect yet. He wears a belly band to prevent any accidents happening with carpet or furniture. Dudley is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm tested and microchipped. He does have a slight heart murmur but doesn't require any meds or show any symptoms. If you would like to meet Dudley please start the process by filling out the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Dudley please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Adopters within an hour of Cedar Rapids, Iowa only please. Adoption donation $200.     Maddy is a 5 year old labradoodle. She weighs about 56 pounds. Maddy just finished up with her vet cares and is ready to find her new home! Maddy is very people friendly. She loves attention and will follow you everywhere begging to be petted. She loves treats. Maddy gets along with other dogs generally. We have just had one or two that she didn't particularly like. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dixie is a rescue. This is the first house she's lived in. She is finally housebroken. We got her then end summer of . Our situation has changed and we need a new loving home for her. Our baby granddaughter lives with us now and has health issues. She's on the floor most of the time and is covered in hair most of the time and I'm picking it off of her face and toys that go in her mouth. The other concern is that Dixie does get rambunctious at times and I worry she may accidentally run over the baby. Dixie is a sweet girl and also a talker. Pretty funny. She would most likely love a fenced yard to run around in. She doesn't have that ... (Read More)here. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chevy (formerly Chewy) has returned sadly... not his fault but his former owner got a new job and he wasn't able to give him the time he needs. Chevy is a busy boy and he needs a family that wants to be with him and burn off his energy... this guy will run with a four wheeler all day!!! His last home brought him a long way with obedience training. He is neutered and UTD on vet care. Chevy would be a great farm pooch after he learns the boundaries and knows to stay..... he is also a very independent pooch so you really need to know what you are doing in training him to stay home as he has no problems leaving either... He would do best with ... (Read More)an invisible fence. If you have what it takes to give this fun guy a loving home please contact us for an adoption application (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Punkin Pie is a young ridgeback mix. From our best guess Punkin was used as a bait dog. She has learned that not all people and other dogs are bad after all. She currently lives with male and female dogs, big & small, 2 cats and kids. However it does take Punkin awhile to warm up to someone new she has learned to trust quickly. She has mastered the art of sitting for a treat and is working really hard on other basis commands and house training. She is still very much a puppy and needs a very understanding family to call her own.

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mercy is an active black lab mix that was born in June 2010. She was found as a stray with a broken leg that had obviously been broken for some time and the only option was to amputate. She has recovered and is ready for a home to call her own. She likes some other dogs, as long as there are no toys around, so an experienced dog owner would be a good match for Mercy. She is house trained and loves to run and play outside. She weighs about 49 pounds.

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Ruger. He is just a year old and is a Black Lab. He is a great boy and very well behaved (most of the time). He does have lots of energy but then what one year old doesn't? He is housebroken and does great with other dogs. He likes to play rough so probably good with another large dog. He does have a couple of issues that should be taken into consideration: 1. He does not like car rides and is really hard to get in a vehicle. 2. At some point something has happened to him while on a leash - so when you go to put his leash on him he does turn around and nip at you. 3. He is somewhat toy possessive with his toys. Once he has ... (Read More)them he thinks they belong to him forever. We would not recommend him in a home with small children because of his nipping when you take his collar. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Iowa
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Iowa Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
