Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Onyx is a handsome 3 year old Black Lab mix who weighs 58 pounds and is full of life. He was given a second chance July of 2014 after he was hit by a car and underwent total hip replacement with the help of Critter Crusaders at Ohio State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital to repair the damage. Onyx is now fully recovered and romps and plays with the best of them. Onyx is a loving boy and nudges for pets and rubs in true lab fashion. He loves to play outdoors with the other dogs and enjoys walks/runs and car rides. He is very good on a leash and doesn't pull. This guy is great with kids and adults alike, he likes anyone who will ... (Read More)give him some love. Onyx is house trained and is happy to sleep in a dog bed beside your bed. He is a very athletic boy and can jump a 4 foot fence so either a tall fence or supervision is necessary outdoors. No more run ins with cars for this guy! Onyx is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on shots. The adoption application can be completed at www.furfunrescue.org. For more information about Onyx please contact Correy at correy@furfunrescue.org or call 319-310-5448. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $200. (Less)

He currently lives with 3 adults but no kids. Growing up he lived with young kids and got along fine but not sure about now that he is older. Has several different large bumps growing on his body.

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Here is one of our new arrivals today. We want you to meet Vader. His owner said he was Lab and Great Pyrenees mix. We certainly don't see any of the Pyrenees in him. He is eight months old. He is neutered, current on his shots and ready for a new owner. He came in with his brother and he is the shyer of the two dogs. He has warmed up quickly and is all about being loved right now. His parent's are getting a divorce and his mom just couldn't keep him. WE promised to find him the right home to take care of him and give him the love he deserves. He is reported as housebroken, good with cats, and we know he gets along with other dogs (at ... (Read More)least his brother). He has never been around kids. (Less)

Fred is a handsome, sweet deaf male dog looking for his forever home. Being deaf, he has special needs, especially not having surprises and needing a lot of patience from his people. He would do better with older children who understand that he should not be surprised or startled. He is actually quite a lapdog who loves snuggling and giving kisses. He will make a good family a wonderful companion.... are you the right fit? If so, please give him a chance!

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This baby is Ollie and you couldn't ask for a nicer pup. He is just a year old and unfortunately someone decided to use his side as a cutting board. He was severely sliced on his right side. It is healing fairly well. Considering what he has been through we would have anticipated some fear of people or some reluctance to approach but he does not - he is extremely friendly and insists that puppy kisses are in order. Because of the injury to his side we have not yet had him neutered but will be doing so as soon as he is cleared by the vet to do so. He is probably a Lab mix. He is an absolute lover. If you are looking for a dog that loves ... (Read More)unconditionally, this is the boy for you. (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am George. I am about 2 1/2 years old and am a lab mix. I have not had a very easy life. In July of this year I was diagnosed with Heartworm. I underwent the nasty treatments it took to get me well and I have recovered. I was severely neglected in my prior home and I am really wishing for a miracle this Christmas that I find a family who will love me and give me the chance to love them back. My new family needs to make sure I stay on Heartworm medication next Summer to assure I don't get Heartworm again. Come on out and show me that there are kind people who love animals.

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered

He is a beautiful, good dog. He looks like a yellow lab, but has husky and mountain terrier in him. We are a large family with little kids. He accidentally bit my daughter one and she got stitches. We just took him to get his shots and he bit the lab tech. We don't want him to be used for dog fighting. He is a great dog. Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Huntington is a sweet old man that has some trouble hearing and seeing but he is so appreciative of all we do for him. He was born sometime between 2000 and 2003 - it is hard to tell. He has great hips but does have some arthritis in his spine and he sees the chiropractor every two weeks and that really helps him. Overall he is very healthy and would love a home with a fenced in yard. He enjoys his time outside, but loves to come in and be with us. Do you have room in your home and heart to give this senior a place to enjoy his golden years?

Mr Moon is an energetic happy dog! He is looking for a home that will give him lots of exercise and play time. He likes other dogs and has lived in a home with young children and cats. Mr Moon has some vision issues but it does not slow him down at all. Born in 2008, Mr Moon still has plenty of love to give. Stop out and meet this one of kind happy go lucky guy!

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-02-00308Antonio (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Antonio is about a year old and he is a Shepherd mix - not a very big boy - and even the Shepherd is questionable but whoever adopts him can do a DNA test to confirm parentage. He would do best in a home with another dog. He got along great with other dogs when he was here before and we saw no signs of destructive behavior but we did not put him in a crate - he is in a kennel where he has plenty of room to move around in and he had company. No issues with housebreaking - just tearing stuff up when they would leave him out of his crate - and tearing his crate up if they left him in the crate. If you have another dog and would like a real ... (Read More)sweetheart in your life, come out and meet Antonio. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Iowa
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Iowa Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
