Rescue Me ID: 16-08-29-00546SISSY (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Please read all of the bio to ensure you have all information. SISSY, along with her brother were owner surrenders to a rescue in San Antonio Texas whom we agreed to transfer into GaDAH for easier adoption in the North East. Sadly SISSY's brother died before the transfer could take place. SISSY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine, Snap 4DX heartworm and tick disease tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. SISSY weighs around 77 pounds and has a date of birth of 16 April 2013. SISSY arrived at the rescue confused and clearly missing her family and her brother and she did want to be as close as possible and exhibited ... (Read More)signs of separation anxiety. This was not in a destructive way, but more vocal, if behind a gate, she would try and get over it to be on the side I was. She has never caused damage to anything or herself. Since being at the rescue several weeks, she has got much better and enjoys being with the rest of the dogs, she does prefer to be with her human, but is happy enough, playing out, or lounging around with them. SISSY is a large girl and will need a family that has the time to give her plenty of exercise, take her on great adventures, road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds, smells the world has to offer. She is well mannered, although at times does have the slight neediness, but that is due to insecurity and will definitely subside over time. SISSY, as with all dogs would benefit and enjoy basic and advanced obedience training. Doing this with her family would benefit both her and them so that each can learn body language, personalities, boundaries and expectations. SISSY walks good on the leash and loves to ride in the car. Although I was told she was house-trained, when SISSY got to the rescue she did have several accidents, however, I put that down to the stress, upset and anxiety she had and was going through and within a week or so, she was soon going out the doggy door that is available to the dogs 24/7 and since then we have had no accidents. SISSY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. For more picture, please go to our website and under the Available Dog Tab, click on her picture. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this stunning black beauty a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2 -7 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html SISSY is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-29-00517JASMINE (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE READ COMPLETE BIO TO BE SURE YOU HAVE ALL INFORMATION and NEXT STEPS. JASMINE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped, she weighs around 11 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 22 April 2016. She is too young to be heart-worm tested, but she is on monthly heart-worm prevention. JASMINE did have some skin issues and had several skin-scrapes that tested negative for any kind of mange. The fact that she was picked up as a stray, she has most likely lived her life outside and so the skin issues could be from flea/fly bites, allergies, lack of nutrition. Now she is eating a healthy, grain free diet and ... (Read More)getting immune support supplements, (honey, coconut oil, fish oil and vitamin c) she is doing great and her skin is clearing up and hair growing as it should. JASMINE is great around all people and children of all sizes, although as puppies do, she does jump up when excited so this will be something that will need to worked on. She is very loving and affectionate with small children and loves to play games with them. She is great with dogs of all sizes and is happy to play and wrestle with the big size dogs, German Shepherds and puppies her size or smaller. She loves to play with squeaky toys and will chase a tennis ball and play with it with the other pups. JASMINE eats with the other puppies and has not showed any signs of food aggression or possessiveness. She is very loving and affectionate and will climb up on my lap and settle down for lots of loving. JASMINE has not had any leash training. She rides well in the car just settling down or looking out of the window. JASMINE is still young puppy and her ideal family will be active, who are willing and capable of taking her on adventures and road trips so that she can explore all the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She will need at least basic and advanced training, and would make a perfect addition to a family with young children/grandchildren. We advise families to work on training her as part of the family, this allows JASMINE to learn and understand personalities, boundaries and expectations and the family members to learn her personality, body language and what she responds best to. JASMINE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this beautiful precious pup a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html JASMINE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Hello everyone my name is Lola. I love to spend my days playing with my squeaky toys, running around in the backyard, going for a walk, or taking naps on the recliner with my foster mom. I am one of the sweetest dogs you will meet! I get along well with other dogs both big and small. I am potty trained and I know how to wait patiently inside my kennel (inside the house of course) while my foster mom is away. Its so I don't get into trouble. I enjoy laying on my blanket, and will even drag it closer to where my humans are so I can lay next to them. I can walk very well on a leash, and love to chase a tennis ball! My favorite thing right now ... (Read More)is chasing my foster sisters around the back yard playing tag! I'm not that big so I don't take up that much space. I don't bark much, and can be a little shy at first but after a little while I become a spunky, sweet, lovable dog that you can't get enough of! Please go to our website at www.addicuslegacy.org and complete and application and you can also see other dogs that are availble. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Maine
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Maine Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
