Rescue Me ID: 17-09-19-00246Brady Thomas (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Brady is just under 2 years old. He has severe separation anxiety behaviors and needs to be in a home where he has lot's of companionship, attention and exercise. He is very loving and loves to sleep in the bed and licks, licks and licks some more and he has always had free reign on furniture also as he has always been treated as part of the family. I am gone 10-12 hours a day and my daughters are both in High School and are both gone all day as well. I do not believe in kenneling all day long nor do I believe in chaining a dog outside EVER. He needs a home where he will have the companionship, patience, guidance and proper training that ... (Read More)he needs and most of all a someone that will love him forever. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-12-00151SHADY (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Shady was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2017. Shady has been listed as a lab mix, however, his siblings were black/tan and more of a min-pin look. Shady also has a tail that often curls around like a pug. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think he breed/s is. %BD'%BD%BDShady is still a puppy and will need a dedicated family that has the time and patience to work and teach him how he is expected to behave. A family who will not get angry or upset if he chews ... (Read More)their shoes or has an accident inside. He is a baby and although very smart and responsive, he needs to be guided in his mannerisms and behavior and continue to let his beautiful personality develop. Shady is a sweet, affectionate, playful, high energy fun loving boy. He is great with other dogs and is always chasing and playing rough with them. He plays great with the other pups that are here. He has learnt to be respectful with the other adult dogs and enjoys their company. He is very affectionate and is always jumping up on the sofa to cuddle up to me or be as close as he can. We do not have cats in the rescue so cannot comment on how she would behave around them. He can be shy with new people, but soon warms up. He will be shy and will need to gain confidence when he goes to new places. %BD'%BD%BDWe do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. Shady does use the dog door to go outside to do her business although she will not know to let you know if he needs to go outside. Shady is young and high energy and so a family with an active lifestyle is a must. He would benefit from lots of road trips and adventures, hiking, trips to the lake, the beach and anywhere that he can burn off some of his energy and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. He will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Shady and his humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. He has not had a collar or leash on and so leash training will definitely need to be worked upon. A family that understands his initial caution of people and new places, that will help him develop his confidence and trust. Shady is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org Shady is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-27-00280TIGGER (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tigger was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 24 July 2016 and she weighs around 30 pounds. Tigger is listed has been listed as a Labrador / Dalmation mix. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is. Tigger is a happy go lucky girl, her tail is always wagging and she always has that contagious smile on her face, so happy to see anyone and share the love and affection. She loves to get her ears scratched and belly ... (Read More)rubbed. She enjoys playing with toys and chewing on cow hooves. She is located in the kennels building and uses the dog door in her kennel to get out to the run to do her business. She has not had any accidents or been destructive whist in the kennel. She shares a kennel with Oreo and they are always playing and wrestling and having fun. She is great with all dogs of all sizes at playtime and loves to run around and chase and be chased. We do NOT have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on how she would be around, or near them. Tigger is a young girl with a lot of energy, we do not have time to work on training at the rescue, but she is responsive. She needs a family that understands she will need training and guidance. An active family who can give her the lifestyle that she needs. Playing ball in the back-yard is fun, but she would benefit from so much more, she is going to need a lot of physical and mental exercise. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting her explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to hers and your benefit. It is important that her family understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond. Tigger will make a great family addition to an experienced family. She is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call her own. Tigger is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00457LAYLA (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LAYLA was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 6 June 2016. LAYLA has been listed as an Labrador Retriever. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think she breed/s is. LAYLA is a gorgeous, fun, affectionate, curious young girl who is bursting with energy and love. She gets on great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and loves to run, play, chase and wrestle. She is very affectionate and extremely curious watching everything I do and ... (Read More)taking it all on board, she watches when I open and close the gate as if processing how I am doing it. A smart girl for sure. We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment on how she would act near or around them. LAYLA shares her kennel with her friend Maddi (husky mix) and they are constantly playing and wrestling at play time they just run and chase around enjoying the fresh air and being able to run free. Layla, like almost all dogs in rescue does jump up a lot, this is more eager to get attention and is an easy fix and will most likely stop when she has her own family and getting all the attention for herself. She will need a family that understands the importance of training and we encourage all families to work on basic and advanced training as a family so that boundaries and expectations can be set and both Layla and her humans can learn each others body language and personalities and form a stronger bond and understanding of each other. Layla would benefit from an active family who will take her on road trips, hikes, trips to the beach and lake and give her the chance to explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She rides great in the car and is a friendly with everyone that she meets. She is a social girl with dogs and humans and would benefit from lots of social interaction with both. LAYLA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-23-00222ERNIE (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

ERNIE was saved from a shelter in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick disease (SNAP 4DX) tested negative and micro-chipped. He has been estimated date of birth of 12 August 2015 and weighs around 36 pounds. We do not have cats in the rescue so are unable to comment on how he would be around them. ERNIE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything ... (Read More)else that is needed. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org ERNIE WILL BE located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Maine
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
