Rescue Me ID: 14-12-19-00283Mira (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed

Mira is a new arrival to our rescue on 13 December. A stray found in VA at only 6 months old, she's had a rough life so far, but now she is safe and warm with a foster family in MD. We have not had her long to evaluate her personality and individual needs, but we will post new information as we get it. Mira is a very little GSP mix (with Lab, we think). She's an incredibly sweet girl, but is still very much a puppy. As a puppy, she chews on some things she shouldn't, she doesn't know basic obedience command, and she may have a few accidents, but you will forget about any trouble she causes when she curls up in your lap and falls asleep. ... (Read More) Mira is a lover with snuggles and kisses, content to lie on a dog bed, the couch, or even to roam around in a fenced yard. If you are looking for a dog you can both rescue AND train from a very young age, Mira may be the dog for you. Please go to www.nbgsprescue.org and fill out an adoption application. Our volunteers will do their best to evaluate the applications to find the right home for Mira, so her days of being out in the cold on her own are far behind her. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mia is a 2 year old black lab and pit mix and needs a home by TOMORROW, 12/12! She is house and crate trained and wonderful with other dogs and kids, but has not yet met any kitties to know how she would be with them. She is very sweet and well mannered. It is best she go to a home with a fenced yard as she is very active and playful. It may also be best she go to a home with older children only because she can have a lot of energy at times and she could accidentally hurt a small child. Mia is currently located in Glen Burnie, MD with the owner's parents. We are seeing if she can keep her there for a few days to spare her some extra time. ... Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

CLOVIS is currently being fostered in Connecticut. CLOVIS had been adopted and traveled to the East Coast, but sadly the families small boy had a severe asthma attack and so the family are unable to keep him, so he is once again looking for his perfect forever home. The family had said he was a great boy and a complete gentleman and are upset at having to give him up! Update from CLOVIS temporary foster: Clovis is very, very energetic. Although lovable he is completely untrained and has no house manners. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLOVIS was saved ... (Read More)from San Antonio Animal Care services the day before he was due to be killed. This boy is just ALL Loving. I believe he was previously an outside dog as he does need work on his manners, but he is learning quickly. CLOVIS does bark a lot when I leave, but again that I believe is because he was an outside dog before with no love or attention. He is a great boy, he is a nice 50 pound size, he gets on well with other dogs although does try to dominate initially, but soon backs down if he is challenged, he also only just been neutered which could be the reason for this behavior and I'm sure will calm down in a few weeks/months. CLOVIS will need some training, but his potential of being a fun, loving, energetic affectionate boy is huge. I mean just look at that smile. CLOVIS is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German shepherd Dog Rescue. Our application process and form can be found on our website. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This stunning young beauty is BECKY. She was adopted from a high kill shelter in Texas to what she thought would be her forever home. Sadly, they did not give her a chance and she was returned to once again be on death row. We here at Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, saved her and brought her into our pack. Becky is extremely active, LOVES her toys, LOVES to run and play chase. Just like young children, she can get vocal when she plays and gets excited. Becky is responsive to commands. Although we have not done any formal training with her, she will be very easy to train. Becky would suit an active family who have the ... (Read More)time and willingness to give her the mental and physical exercise that she needs to keep her busy and out of mischief. Becky is great with kids, as long as they respect her boundaries and understand that dogs too need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how she is with cats. However, she is still relatively young and could be taught to leave them alone, if she did have that 'interest'. Becky has an estimated birth date around February 2nd,2013. She is spayed, rabies, current on her vaccines, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease, de-wormed and micro-chipped Becky is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog rescue. We are located in Devine, south of San Antonio, in the high kill state of Texas. Our adoption fee is $170.     Meet the good looking COOPER! He is almost a year old and would love to celebrate his upcoming birthday with his own family. Cooper was just 3 months old when he and his siblings (one being Cleotis who is also up for adoption) were saved from a San Antonio kill shelter. He was labeled a German Shepher mix, but we believe him to be more of a lab/collie blend. Since Cooper has grown up with the pack here at the rescue, he is extremely dog socialized and a very confident young pup. He is puppy energetic and loves to chase and play with the other dogs. Cooper is very loving and affectionate and never passes up the chance to have his belly ... (Read More)rubbed or his ears scratched. Cooper is dreaming of an active family that is looking for a young dog they can train and take to lots of places letting him experience the different sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. Cooper is great with kids, as long as they respect his boundaries and understand, that dogs too, need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how he is with them. However, he is still young and could be taught to leave them alone, if he shows to have that 'interest'. Cooper is neutered, current on his vaccines and micro chipped. He recently tested negative for heart-worm and tick-borne-disease. He is a healthy 51-55 pounds and we think he should stay around this weight. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE's mother was a pure bred German Shepherd and her puppies (born Dec. 2012) contracted distemper. All the pups were given the distemper serum and antibiotics and did very well. BELLE had neurological complications that were caught early on and she had surgery that was 100% successful. Belle has NO neurological side effects of distemper! However this did cause Belle to loose most of her ... (Read More)teeth. This does not hinder her in anyway at all. She happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for battling and winning a very deadly disease. Belle, the survivor, knows how to use the dog door, is spayed, current on vacs, micro chipped and is looking for a loving forever on the East coast. Belle is currently in a private rescue in south Texas. We will transport her 'home' via Rescue Road Trips. This fee is included in her $355 adoption donation. Please contact us straight away as we would love for this sweet, sweet girl to be 'home' for the holidays. Thank you for looking at our sweet Belle and considering adding her to your family. (Less)

ADOPTED, RETURNED, NOW URGENT~~TWO WEEK SHUT DOWN WAS ***NOT*** FOLLOWED~~AT BARCS To rescue, email rescue@baltimoreanimalshelter.org To adopt, go to 301 Stockholm St Baltimore, MD 21230 PLEASE SHARE!!!!! Final request - URGENT: Cinnamon ~ 10 yrs old, spayed female, 58 lbs Cinnamon is a wonderful senior gal with so much love left to give! We are completely out of space, so Cinnamon has been bunking in an office - acting as the perfect guest! She loves attention and makes a constant effort to try to sit in our laps. When she's not busy cuddling, Cinnamon amuses herself cuddled onto her dog bed and would make a great, low-key companion. ... (Read More)Cinnamon also did very well on her assessment with other dogs, and was well-behaved with good social skills - and she even wanted to run and play a bit with the young whipper-snappers! She came to the shelter after her owner passed away a few months ago, and family were unable to care for her. Cinnamon was adopted from our shelter recently and returned only a few days later because she was having difficulty adjusting to her new home and nervous around the children. The adopters did say they may have been pushing her too much too quickly, but she was growling at the children and seemed territorial around her bed and toys. As we have not experienced any of this behavior at the shelter, we'd like to give Cinnamon a second chance to flourish in rescue with structure and time to decompress in a new environment. She should be considered urgent. Please let us know if you give Cinnamon a second chance! (Less)

Roxy is a playful, loving, cuddly dog. She enjoys being around children (I have a 3 year old niece and a 10 year old step brother she adores). She is a bit anxious about new people (adults and children) coming into her space but not all of the time. She lunges and growls when she feels unsafe and then calms down when she is ok. She LOVES being outside hiking, going on long walks, playing fetch, being in the water or just laying around in the grass. She has seasonal allergies so she gets sneezy and itchy mostly in the fall. She is house broken, can sit, lay, stay, come, leave it, paw, roll over, and high five. Roxy gets along with most ... (Read More)dogs and loves to run around playing chase. She will get defensive if the other dog does something she doesn't like such as humping her.     Hi, I'm Chance. I have a goofy, playful nature and am a very active dog. I was born on the 9th of June 2011 and I weigh about 90 pounds. I'm a handsome dog with a sturdy build, a shiny coat, and a big, infectious smile. My papa was an Anatolian Sheppard, (which means I am very tall for a Sheppard) and my momma was a chocolate lab, though my coat is black. From my papa I get the traits of being very loyal and steadfast and making sure the property is safe from intruders and from my momma I get the wanting to cuddle and be a lap dog as well as I love love love to play! I am stubbornly smart-meaning I know lots of commands but am selective when ... (Read More)I choose to follow them. I have had fairly extensive obedience training, and on the leash I follow all the commands. but off the leash I don't really care all the time, I just want to run and have fun. I greet other dogs quickly and play well with pups of all sizes, and even though I can be a bit of a bully I am told, one of my favorite playmates is only 8 pounds, but I am very gentle with her I just have to meet and greet the new folks my way, and I must make sure they know I am the boss --and after that first pummel things are fine. I am just trying to in my teenager way assert my being the Alpha in the house. I would make a great co-pilot for an assertive, active owner who appreciates smart, athletic dogs and will commit to my exercise and training. I need strong leadership to follow or else I will try to rule the house since someone has to, right? A home with a non-alpha dog and a fenced yard is ideal for me, and older kids (over seven) are great too. I'm a cool, active dog who is also affectionate and playful, and will be your steadfast companion. If interested in being Chance's lifelong companion, please contact Bill (wlharrisjr@yahoo.com) This is a courtesy listing, not an IMPS dog. IMPS is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of any of the dogs listed as courtesy listings on Petfinder. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Rescue Me ID: 12-07-11-00280Yankee (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Yankee is a very active playful fellow. He loves both people and dogs, and interacts well with both. Although he was born to a beagle mix mother in our rescue (Wrigley), his dad was obviously a black Labrador. He is very handsome with a soft, sleek black coat highlighted by white patches on his chest, toes and lips. He is energetic as only young dogs can be, and plays well with his foster brothers. He enjoys running around the backyard and then settling on his pillow in his foster's bedroom for the night. Yankee has great manners, is crate trained, walks well on a leash, sits on command and comes when called. He is patient at meal time and ... (Read More)waits his turn when treats are being handed out. In general he is a well behaved dog with manners. He was raised in a loving home, but was returned to our rescue for medical reasons. Yankee does have a chronic condition that requires continued care, and for that reason Yankee is eligible for Beagle Maryland's Friends of Winston Program. In general Yankee does not act like he is feeling badly. He races out the back door, talks to the dogs a couple of yards over, tells us when folks are passing the house with or without dogs, and plays wholeheartedly with his brothers. He is a sweet and loving guy that just needs a little extra helping hand to live a comfortable and active lifestyle as your best friend. Adoptive Status: Neutered, UTD on shots, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Obviously, Yankee needs someone who will be attentive to his medical needs throughout the rest of his life. Owner Aptitude Level: Nurturing, patient beginner (Less)

Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Maryland Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
