Please meet Kona. Kona is looking for a loving home and someone who will let her give them kisses and will snuggle. Kona has had a tough start in life and needs someone who will teach her basic manners. Kona needs a home with older kids, as she's about 1-2 years old and still has some puppy play left in her. She loves to go on walks, car rides and running around a yard. Kona is house trained, crate trained, knows how to sit, lay down and take ... (Read More)food from your hand gently. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-16-00100Oreo (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered

Oreo came to Critter Cavalry Rescue from a small own shelter in Tennessee. When you meet this 5 month old, 28 pound boy you immediately wonder'|.why isn't he jumping around like a busy puppy? You wait and you wait and then you realize that this handsome boy is just an old soul in a very young Lab mix body. He is quietly happy and ready to make new friends and acquaintances every moment of the day. He is an observer as he sits and watches all the activities swirling around him during busy moments in rescue. He is living with a very dedicated foster mom who has an apartment which suites Him just fine. He is not one that needs the ... (Read More)vast containment of a fenced yard but just the time and attention of a few leash walks daily seems to help him get his puppy exercise. He would love a yard and children or another dog in his life. Heck probably a cat too if that was part of the package in an adoptive family's profile. This boy is the all -round best puppy ever. Oreo is just about housebroken completely after just a week with us. He is ready to go on 6/22 to a new and forever place in his life. We projecting a 55-60- pound size for Oreo when fully grown. If you are looking for a remarkable puppy to adopt then Oreo will be top of the class for someone. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tonya is a cute, cuddly 13 week old lab mix. She is great with kids and other dogs. She is very playful and full of energy and will do best in a house that has a younger dog to play with as she hates to be alone. She goes potty every time you take her outside but still has accidents inside. She is almost crate trained and has gone most nights from 1130 pm to 630 am without needing to go out. She loves to be held, to chew on her bone and to play with her toys. She almost has the word no down too! Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Chico is 1/2 Sheepdog and 1/2 Lab with grey and white coloring. Chico was adopted at the age of 10 weeks and he has been raised with 2 Labs and 4 kids. Chico is housebroken, leash trained and very loving. Being a sheepdog, he likes to have a job/keeping watch over the family. He barks at dogs walking by the house and when people come to the door. Chico does not jump on people coming in the house. He likes to be inside and out and generally is submissive and affectionate. Chico is not a picky eater and he has not had any health related issues. Chico is playful, loves to run outdoors, riding in the car, being pet and brushed, and appreciates ... (Read More)sleeping in the sunshine or on his dog bed. Chico is an excellent companion and he adores the company of people. More lately, Chico has begun to assert dominance (particularly when attention- praise and petting- is given to another dog) and it may be best if he is placed in a home without children and other dogs. He likes undivided attention and can nudge other dogs out of the way. Chico has not hurt anyone but he has nipped one of our dog's ears, and most recently one of our children's ears, to remind each about who is boss. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! I'm Elska and I'm looking for my forever family. Would you like to see how well behaved I can be? Great! This is the part where I show off for you and win you over, click here to seehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXM3NISCWrk&feature=youtu.be I'm about 2 years old and weigh 45 pounds - of ALL love! My tail never stops wagging! I have heard a lot of talk about what a very sweet disposition I have. They must be right because I LOVE people! I really like kids and can be sweet and gentle with them, but sometimes I get excited and may jump on them to say 'HI'! I have been fostered with and without other dogs. Being the only dog is great ... (Read More)because I get a lot of attention, and I'm happy when being loved on and petted. With proper introductions I am usually good with other dogs. I love to play but can also settle down nicely and relax. I would love to go hiking and be your adventure buddy! Do you need one? I do well in a crate and am also doing well with potty training. I don't think I'd like to live in the city or in an apartment because of all the outside noises. I've been through a lot of changes but doing much better with structure so I know the rules! I just need someone who will take the time to know me and give me a chance. I'm receiving training in my foster home so I can be the best dog I can be! I get really excited but am learning to slow down and focus on the people around me! Here's a video of how playful and sweet I am: https://youtu.be/GVKgzypZ2CQ Operation Paws for Homes is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs from high kill shelters in the south. Animal ID: 5954Nubbs (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Nubbs! Sadly, this sweet and smart girl found her way to a shelter in South Carolina. OPH scooped her up and she is ready for her forever home. She is a petite girl around 40-50 lbs thought to be a Retriever/Australian Shepherd Mix. Nubbs definitely displays some of the wonderful quirkiness of Aussies. She is spayed, up-to-date on shots, and fostered in Sykesville, MD. What we know about Nubbs: *A great age - she is about 4 years old *Crate trained - she is quiet in her crate *Good house manners - house trained and just wants to be near you *Intelligent - walks well on leash, knows sit and down *Great for adults - kids are loud ... (Read More)and a little scary *Excited about car rides - hops right in the car and gets comfy *Excellent pup for a low to medium energy single person, couple, or family with older children *Loyal and Eager to Please - She bonds very quickly to her family and just wants to be near you *Currently fostered with other smaller dogs. Prefers low-key submissive dogs as friends. *Cat uncertain- she isn't much of a chaser and would likely do fine with a cat, 'lived' with an outside cat previously **NOT recommended for families that live in apartments Note: Nubbs came to OPH worried about strangers. She continues to take some time to warm up. Once she knows you, she is in love. In her foster home, she loves being lazy, enjoys time in the backyard, and loves walks. She is working on building self confidence and would love an adopter to continue working with her on this. A little pack leadership and love will ensure a happy, long life together. We highly suggest additional training. Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ella came to us as an owner give up as she was found in Charleston, WV and the people decided having 6 dogs was to much. She is a handful and will need training but is a quick learner. She loves to please and likes long walks. She would not be a good companion for children under the age of 8 as she is strong and could knock them over without meaning to hurt them. While she is currently around cats her interest in cats makes us believe she might not be a good fit iwth a cat in a home. She would excel at obedience and beyong if you are looking for a dog to train. Our best guess is she is between 9 and 12 months of age so young and happy. She ... (Read More)will be going to the K9 Aquatic swim center so we shall know if she likes to swim. She seems to be mostly lab but there is a little something else going on like a shepherd.     Crash is a love bug who needs to be in a home where he can be the only baby. He is just as happy snuggling up on the couch to watch a movie as he is going for a nice long run. He knows how to sit, stay, whisper, high five, lay down, and give paw. He has been doggy door trained and kennel trained (we call it his house and as soon as you say 'do you want to go to your house he runs right in'). He gets along great with his big brother (yellow lab), Buddy, ... (Read More)but unfortunately he doesnt not get along with the neighbor dogs or the household cat. He would do best in a home where he can be the spoiled and sweet only baby, with attentive parents! Lab    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Application form is here: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/E53LXc4bsw6r997fuK4 Looking to place Harley within a 3 hour radius of Washington, DC. Will consider other areas if we have someone that can accomplish a home visit. NEEDS AN EXPERIENCED DOG PERSON. Harley is a very energetic 6 year old male neutered Lab looking for his fur-ever home. Harley is a big boy - weighs 95 pounds and he's tall. He would do best in a home without other dogs or cats. His ideal home would be one with an older, established couple (or single male) whose children are older (teenagers) or already out of the house. Harley is good with people but ... (Read More)his size and energy level are not compatible with small children. Although Harley is 6 years old, he still has a lot of puppy traits - jumping up on people especially when he's excited (like walk time) and he is still mouthy (uses his mouth when playing or when he's excited). Harley is strong so he needs a strong handler. He walks decent on the leash but does have a high prey drive and if he sees a critter on the walk, he will pull to try and get to it (deer, squirrels, rabbits, cats, etc.) Harley is a bit of a spoiled boy and enjoys house living. He loves going on walks and will settle nicely for several hours after a long walk/run. He also loves to swim. He does need mileage every day. He is currently getting 2+ mile walk in the morning and the same in the afternoon. He would love to go to a home with a runner! Harley will alert and bark on noises in the house which would make him not suitable for apartment or shared wall living. He needs a stand alone house with a physical fenced yard. He'd be a great deterrent to anyone thinking about breaking into a house as his bark is loud and can be intimidating. He doesn't self exercise so the size of the yard is not really that important. He's not really good about playing fetch either. Harley does not like to share and is a resource guarder with other dogs. He is fine with people and will give up stuff fairly easily. Harley is up to date on all vaccines, micro-chipped, neutered and current on Heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative. He is a typical velcro lover Lab but he wasn't well socialized when he was a puppy and therefore needs to be an only pet. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs.
