Rescue Me ID: 17-12-22-00285Maya (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maya came to us from a municipal shelter in Washington that had problems with their heating system and needed to get a few dogs out to alternate shelters. Maya is a very nice and kind female that appears to be pretty young at about 2 years or less. She has a brown brindle coat with a black and white face. WE believe she is likely an Australian shepherd maybe mixed with lab. She is only about 35 to 40 pounds though and is medium sized. She was a stray girl so we don't know a lot about her, but she does well with other dogs and is pretty playful. She does walk well on a leash and goes outside to go potty. so likely will be easy to house ... (Read More)train at a home. SHe is micro-chipped, will soon be spayed, and fully vaccinated and ready to go Home for the Holidays! (Less)

Sheeshe is one of the poor dogs taken from a hoarder home in the town of Hot Springs. She lived with 26 dogs in a small house and yard with an 8 foot fence. They lived in certain areas of the house depending on who they got along well with. She was in the front yard with about 8 total dogs who had to fight for food and water. They were eventually left behind when the owner moved away due to health related circumstances. We here at the shelter love this wonderful dog after many hugs and kisses and hanging out with her in her room she can't get enough of us. She loves to be petted and to give hugs for more love! Our wonderful girl has ... (Read More)come into her own and is looking for a bed and a lap of her very own! All medical work will be done before she goes home. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sam came to us from a municipal shelter in the south who was overrun with intake dogs and reached out for some help. He is a black lab mix we think, and came to us with demodex mange, the kind that is not contagious but more of an immunity problem due to poor diet and poor conditions. So Sam went off to a school in Bonners Ferry where he worked with teens to learn clicker training and to learn basic commands while teaching the kids patience and compassion. He was there just a few weeks and is now back with us looking wonderful and with a great coat of healthy fur. . He is available for adoption now and ready to go to a new home that ... lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Montana Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
