Bark (Hi) - I'm Ethel and I'm fostered in Colorado looking for my forever home. I am a country girl at heart, prefer the peacefulness of the outdoors to being in public parking lots or commotion. I would thrive best in a home where my person (s) or family have a rather fixed schedule and even better if someone is a work at home type. I LOVE having a fenced yard and another dog to play with or a neighbor dog that can visit. I am very interested in butterflies, bunnies, squirrels and deer and watches them all intently. I also do well at doggie daycare- some days in the quiet yard and others in the big yard; my report cards are always ... (Read More)A+ and they say I am always good with the other dogs. Being that I'm mostly border collie, I would really love a job or something that will challenge me- perhaps an agility class. I am very smart and want to learn. I also love to hike but still need training to be allowed off leash. I am anxious at first when visitors arrive to the house but I meet them and do quite well (after I have been at the same house for awhile and have settled in to the new environment and feel safe/confident.) I am fearful in public situations but can adapt to a restaurant patio if away from the crowds and with my person. I am the most cuddly sweet companion ever! I really love being held and stroked and give/ receive affection! Will you be my loving family ;-) Also, I love balls and laser focus. I love to be held, cradled like a baby - I'm relaxed and enjoy; in other words I am very affectionate. Smart and sweet) I also like to talk- when I've done something fun I'll likely tell you a lot about it- very cute. Ethel is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. It would be easiest to adopt her in COLORADO, but we can bring her back to New Mexico as well. Please contact Desert Paws 505-702-9396 (email is usually quicker DesertPawsNM@live.com (Less)

Roxy is an energetic dog with lots of love. She has her son Rex and both are fixed. These two come as a pair. Rex is a lab mix and doesn't like to be separate from Roxie and he is 5 yrs old. Both of these dogs prefer to be outside all the time. They need plenty of room to run and play. They have some training and can sit and fetch. My husband is having back surgery and I work out of town a lot so we need help and need someone to take these pets and give them a good home. They are heathy and happy and have a large pen to run in now. I would like a family to be introduced to them and get to know them so they will feel comfortable.

She was shy at first but has completely done a 180 on her demeanor since she was rescued. Very loving and thrives for center of attention. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Meet Athena (Goddess of Wisdom). A 2 year old Chihuahua cross. She weighs around 23 lbs. She is very shy at first but now won't leave her foster mom's side. She would need a home without younger kids, teens and up are best. She likes lots of attention and needs a little work on jumping up on you but does so she can be petted. She is great with other dogs but tends to be a little bossy with them. She is smart and sweet. She has a couple of issues which is understandable from where she was found--she gorges her food and will try to eat the other dog's food if they don't finish quickly. It is best to feed her separately. A little bit of her ... (Read More)history: She was found at a gas station in Shiprock, NM, with Venus and Turbo. They were in pretty pitiful shape and not surprisingly somewhat skittish. Athena has come around quickly for living on the street and she is very smart. She has been rescued now and just is looking for her furever home (or would settle for a foster home for right now) where she never has to worry where her next meal is coming from.     Hello. My name is Abby. I'm a small Lab mix, 2 years old, and I am searching for someone to love me. I survived horrible conditions for a long time at a dog 'sanctuary' in Chaparral, NM that was closed in September 2013. I still have the scars and only half of a tail. Rescuers found me, gave me a warm bed and good food. I am currently living in a foster home with some other nice dogs. I am good with other dogs and walk well on leash with familiar people.
