I hate to do this because I absolutely have the world's sweetest dog but I'm being forced to get rid of him. Maui loves to play but he's also an escape artist. He jumps our back wall and chases the goats around the yard. Although he's big, he's never attacked or harmed them. But I'm being required to remove him from my home within the next 30 days. He is a 2 year old yellow lab mix. Wonderful with kids. I'm looking for someone with space and a love for dogs. He is the sweetest dog and he would only kill you with saliva. If you or anyone you know would love to take him in please let me know. There will be a small rehoming fee to assure you're ... (Read More)serious about caring for a member of our family. (Less)

She had been in custody for about 6 months and was just too excited for ... (Read More)people to handle when they would take her out of her kennel.. One of the supervisors asked us to take her so she could run as she just needed to stretch out and play.. Sure enough we brought her into our program and she probably ran for about an hour just all over the property-- she was so excited to be out. Fast forward- she got adopted and started jumping the woman's fence- she was bored and the lady decided she was no longer going after her and instead got another dog. So now she is back with us and doing great just needs her forever home.. Temperament- Very sweet with everyone. She loves new people and new dogs -- she would make an amazing greeter for any public place.. She is happiest when she can see as many people as possible to keep her mind active.. Energy Level- Mid level energy. Dogs/Cats- She loves to play with the other dogs.. They can run and wrestle non-stop.. She gets along with the cats and kittens very well with no issues at all.. She just loves everyone and everything... Housetrained- She is great in the house.. Hose and crate trained perfectly.. No accidents ever.. Tinkerbell would make a wonderful apartment dog for someone who is active- someone who jogs or goes hiking or likes to spend time downtown in public hanging out.. She absolutely loves people and so visiting lots of people in the evening and sleeping in an apartment all day would be right up her alley!!! She is the perfect combination of social butterfly and laid back couch potato.. She is a perfect girl as far as socialization and being a perfect companion however she does have a few faults.. She is terrified of fireworks/gunshots and thunder and she can jump my 6' wood privacy fence with no problem.. However when she does jump I can meet her at the end of the ditch bank and open my car door and she will hop right inor she will go visit a neighbor who might be home.. She loves car rides!!! This dog would be a perfect traveling companion-- maybe for someone who lives in an RV or a truck driver who needs a companion.. This would be right up her alley-- nothing better for her than being out and about.. Adoption fee $150 includes spay, rabies vaccine, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchip, collar and tags, training information, and all the support you need. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-20-00566Emma (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current, Malnourished,
 Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

URGENT IF ANYONE WOULD LOVE THIS SPECIAL GIRL. SHE CANNOT GO TO POUND IT WOULD BREAK HER SPIRIT I am posting this for my mother. I love Emma but unfortunately we cannot take her due to our living situation and our family is really small and she has nowhere to go. I don't know if this kind of thing is allowed in this group, but I know all of you are loving people. Please share and try and help us. Hello this is a very urgent request. I need to find a forever home for Emma the Black Lab. I wish I could say Emma is the perfect dog and is a model black lab,but well she is not. Emma's first 5-6 years must have been very hard and scary for ... (Read More)her. The first picture is from when I pulled Emma from the pound 3 years ago. What you can't see is that she had also been nursing recently, her coat was dull, and she had several open sores from nervous chewing. Emma sadly never learned to be a carefree dog. It took 18 months before she would look me in the face. She sometimes messes up and grabs a treat to quickly and she is then afraid to take treats from your hand again. She will turn her face away from a treat and this girl likes her treats. She has an over-sized ball that is her comfort. She seeks it out when stressed. She will bring it to you when you are upset. I originally thought she wanted me to play catch with it, but no she wants you to hold it if your upset and then give it back to her. She just wants you to be happy and not upset. She likes the dog park, but just likes to explore with you or on her own. Thunder terrifies her she freezes and shakes, I will medicate her if I know it is coming. She also takes a few weeks to get used to th heater kicking on evey winter. I wish she was 100% housebroken and for the most part she is, unless she gets scared then she has a number 1 accident. She cannot help this she just gets scared and well things happen. She is better suited to an older person or a quieter home. She is very timid around men at first , but will warm up if they are kind to her. She is okay with other dogs and cats, though can be scared of cats and will hide from them behind you until she decides they are not Mountain Lions in disguise. Like I said she is fine with other dogs just a bit stand offish, especially at first. She is not food protective the cat has walked up and eaten with her and I can reach down and take her food away, but like all dogs should have her own bowl. She uses a slow feed bowl because it seems she had to get her food as quickly as possible when younger leading her to inhaling food quickly and choking herself. Emma is 8-9 years old now and an INSIDE DOG. She sleeps a lot and likes to have her head petted. She will also be your shadow and not let you out of her site, she is often found lying no more then a few feet away from me whether I am on the computer, outside, sleeping, doing laundry, or taking a shower. I wish Emma could wait for me to come home then fly to Europe to live next year, but the stress would be very bad for her. I love my girl and want her final years to be better then her beginning ones. I never walked into the pound to adopt a dog, but Emma had given up almost and I could not let her do that. Emma needs someone who knows that she is a good dog and will tell her so often. I often tell her that I am sorry who ever had her before missed that and she did did not get to learn that. She is a sweet baby who is shy around people and just needs a warm loving home to sleep and rest her weary bones after being over bred for years and living in a state of near constant starvation, she deserves that. She cannot be out of a fence or off the lead if so she just goes in to a zone and she is off on some mission to find something and seems to go into her own zone. Not sure why she does this, but a fenced yard is good. She has never escaped my 4 ft fence and is happy to just stay in and warm your feet and cuddle her ball. (Less)

Besides her contagious smile, Chardonnay's personality sets her apart. She is very sweet and friendly to people, wanting to make new friends. Chardonnay enjoys being with her family and playing an awesome game of fetch with her people. She will retrieve the toy and bring it back for another throw, but not to the point of being annoying. She has medium energy for a young, one-year-old dog, requiring a walk or two, and some playtime. After that she is happy to hang out around the house, perhaps chewing on a bone, enjoying toys, or watching for lizards. Chardonnay has nice house manners. She is nice on leash, crate trained, and house trained; ... (Read More)going to the door when she needs to go outside. Her previous family had to move into an apartment and didn't feel that it was fair to Chardonnay since she loves time outside. She seems to be friendly to dogs as well.     Hello. My name is Abby. I'm a small Lab mix, 4 years old, and I am searching for someone to love me. I would do best in an adult-only home. I survived horrible conditions for a long time at a dog 'sanctuary' in Chaparral, NM that was closed in September 2013. I still have the scars and only half of a tail. Rescuers found me, gave me a warm bed and good food. I am currently living in a foster home with some other nice dogs. I am good with some dogs and walk well on leash with familiar people. I am still uncomfortable until I get to know you, so I need patience and understanding. I am already spayed and I have all my vaccinations. I love toys, ... lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost New Mexico Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
