Rescue Me ID: 16-09-18-00548Tink (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tink is part of a litter of puppies that came to us from Roswell. Her sisters Minnie and Ellie Mae and brother, Roo, are also looking for homes. The puppies live in a foster home with cats and several dogs. They do great with the cats and hold their own with all of the dogs. They are not quite house trained but they have access to the outside all day and often potty outside (until bedtime where they sleep in their puppy pen). They sleep through the night and curl up together. They will piddle on piddle pads but will also miss the mark by a significant margin when playing. They play all day together and chew each other's collars off. ... (Read More)They are very socialized, love to be held and played with, and give wonderful puppy kisses! Tink is the runt of the litter. She needs lots of love and attention. She is not afraid of anything but is needy. She is the first to the food bowl and the last to finish. Mom is very mixed--black and white, hard to tell what she is (she is feral.) Dad's are unknown, there can be different fathers in a litter. But she was seen hanging out with a male doberman. Some of the pups look like they may be doberman/sharpei mix. Some look pitull mix. And one looks like mom. Tink looks like a pitbull mix. Your guess is as good as ours. Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Through no fault of her own, I am having to rehome my girl, Nova. NOVA is a labrador/Golden retriever/cattle dog mix (DNA test confirmed), approx. 2 years old, 70 lb. spayed female. She is up to date on all of her vaccines, is microchipped, and has graduated from Petsmart's beginner training class. She is great with kids and cats, but would be better off as the only dog, unless the other dog(s) is/are submissive. She is a great dog for someone who likes to hike or be outdoors, and she loves to be with her family no matter what they are up to. She is a sweetheart and loves to cuddle, either on the couch or at your feet. Nova is house broken ... (Read More)and crate trained. I prefer she goes to a home that has a large yard with a tall secured fence, but she does just fine indoors as long as she gets regular exercise. A home visit/meet and greet will be conducted to make sure she is going to a good home. References of any potential adopters will be requested and checked! She really is a fantastic dog and it breaks my heart to have to let her go! More photos available upon request, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. We are in Albuquerque, but I would be willing to help transport her out of state, so long as she goes to a great home. (Less)

Goldie is a happy go lucky, loving, kind hearted fun dog. She loves to walk. We had to put her buddy Leo down, they loved each other so much and played all the time. Her perfect home is with other active dogs on some land where she can run and roam. She is a lovely dog for adults and kids. She loves dogs and cats. She loves to sleep in the bed at night. If she had buddies I'm sure she would sleep on a dog bed with them. She slept with Leo on a big dog bed in the bedroom. She loves to cuddle and lick her dog buddies. She does snore sometimes. She is also a good guard dog, she'll bark if something is wrong. There is not a bad bone in her ... (Read More)body. Her right foot is curvy due to a deformity so she needs to take glucosamine supplements. She also eats crunch without corn, soy or wheat. She loves yogurt, apples, peanut butter and treats. She sits on command, comes to you and would love to do agility courses as long as there is a treat! I have her medical records. She is very healthy just needs some wide open spaces and more companions to run with. I'm recently divorced, my lifestyle has changed. I used to work at home and live on 2 acres. I'm now working full time and must live in the city renting. I feel really bad that I must give Goldie away I'm doing it for her well being she deserves it! She doesn't need suburbia or an apartment. She needs doggie companions and ability to run and take daily walks. She loves the car but needs a good walk before going on a trip. She's definitely a free spirit! A wonderful companion! I have lots of wonderful pictures I can send you. I also have videos. We can make an appointment. If you love her then I would want to visit your home to make sure it's a great fit. I live in Santa Fe New Mexico. Thanks for viewing. (Less)

Huey is a remarkable boy we rescued from death row in a high kill, small town New Mexico Shelter. He is the most loving and snuggly dog you could imagine. Huey needs a place safe away from children. After having him in our home only six weeks, there was a terrible incident where he got overly excited over a cat who came into our yard. In that excited state he bit our 2 year old neighbor. We were lucky it was only stitches for her since Huey is a strong dog with a strong jaw. Now we cannot have Huey in our home because we live in a duplex situation with the family with the 2 year old, and no rescues in New Mexico will take a dog who has ... (Read More)bitten a child. He is currently in boarding indefinitely. Huey would love a place to run and play, is good with other dogs, mostly, but has gotten into a couple of fights with male dogs. Seems better with female dogs in general. Huey needs a stable environment where he can feel safe and blossom into the dog we all know he can be. (Less)

They got him from a shelter. He is a great dog. He lives with other dogs but really doesn't play with them and could be an only dog. He is very protective of his family.     Elle and her brother, Cay, were dropped off at the local Circle K store. An alert clerk called us to come rescue them before they could get into trouble. We figure the pups are around 8 months old at the time of this posting. Elle always has a smile on her face and a wag on her tail. She would make a great family pet.

Lab    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Roxy is an energetic dog with lots of love. She has her son Rex and both are fixed. These two come as a pair. Rex is a lab mix and doesn't like to be separate from Roxie and he is 5 yrs old. Both of these dogs prefer to be outside all the time. They need plenty of room to run and play. They have some training and can sit and fetch. My husband is having back surgery and I work out of town a lot so we need help and need someone to take these pets and give them a good home. They are heathy and happy and have a large pen to run in now. I would like a family to be introduced to them and get to know them so they will feel comfortable.

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Sandy is happy go lucky. He is about 1 year old. He is full of playful energy and is very affectionate. He is a people pleaser. He tends to jump up but his foster parents are working on that and he could use some obedience training. Because of his rambunctiousness he may be not a good choice for a household with young toddlers. He likes other dogs but does need an introduction. He is crate trained. And one of his favorite things is to get a bath. Contact Trish at 505-907-3791 or email pacatrish@yahoo.com

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in New Mexico
Lab Dogs can make good pets in New Mexico if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost New Mexico Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
