Who wants some puppy love?? You want it...I got it! Let me introduce myself. My name is Bentley and I am a 5 month old, handsome, playful, and loving yellow Lab mix. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-24-00098Wink (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Wink. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 62 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was picked up by the pound. I am a very sweet and loving boy. I am very sweet and friendly. I love people and I get along well with other dogs. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 ... (Read More)weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.     Meet Bard, or as his foster dad calls him, Super Potty Dog, because even with admittedly slow foster parents, at just 4 months old Bard is doing phenomenal with his potty training! He loves to snuggle and play with his furry foster sister, who is doing a good job teaching him about manners and personal space. Bard is a quick study! He is interested in the family cat, but the cat doesn't want to play and Bard is ok with that. So if you're looking for a handsome, cuddly adventurer, Bard is your guy! Hi my name is Eileen and I am such a sweetheart!! My foster momma's friend found me injured and scared behind her house. I'm an almost 2 year chocolate lab mix with the prettiest golden eyes and I am very playful with my foster brother and sisters. I'm potty trained, know how to sit and am working on other little tricks everyday! But my favorite thing to do is being around humans and getting lovings from them.     Hello. My name is Cora. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 43 lbs. I was seized by the pound, along with 15 other dogs, including my mom, Sally and my dad, Scooby, due to extreme neglect. Although my parents lived in the house, my 12 siblings ( my littermates and from other litters) and I were not so lucky. We lived outside. We were contained in electric wire pens with inadequate shelter. Only a few of us had water (from the rain) to drink and none of us had food available. We had garbage strewn through our pens. Many of the neighbors said that we were badly abused by our owner. We were beat and had rocks thrown at us when we would ... (Read More)bark. We were all very unsocialized, shy and we proved to be very hard to catch during the seizure. Once we were all captured and knew we were safe, we have transformed in to happy, loving and very sweet dogs. I can still be shy at times, but I just need socialization and a little reassurance. Because I lived outside, I will still need to be trained, housebroken and crate trained. I am already a great girl, gaining tons of confidence and learning exactly how to be a dog. With the right family, I am going to be a truly wonderful dog. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. 'LARRY' is a uniquely good looking, sweet and fun 10 month old yellow Lab mix boy whom we rescued, with his pretty yellow Lab Momma and siblings, from a very high kill pound where they were slated for euthanasia due to overcrowding. (We do not know who the 'Daddy' was, but we believe a Catahoula Leopard Dog, based on nose markings and the very interesting and good-looking 'marbeling' on his back). Larry is a smart boy and a character who loves to play, but also is a tenderhearted 'snuggler'. He is neutered, has been de-wormed, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, micro-chipped, crate-trained and house-trained. ... (Read More)All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Beauregard but my family and friends call me 'Bo'. My age is around 18 months. I have had all my shots including Proheart for heart-worms. I have also been neutered. I am a mixed breed of lab, as one can tell by my webbed feet and love of water and people. Some also say I have boxer and pit bull as well. Some of the things I love besides water and people are long walks and running off leash in the woods. I am really good while in the woods, I run ahead and all around but don't get too far ahead of my owners and if I do, I will wait for them to catch up with me or I will run back to them. I am good and have never run off ... (Read More)when in the woods. Once I kicked up several deer and chased them for a short distance and then came right back to my owners. I enjoy playing tug-a-war and chewing on my strong chew toys. I am still learning new commands. I can sit and shake on command. I love people so much that when I see them I tend to jump up on them. This is an area that I still need training in. I can be vocal by trying to talk to you but I am not a barker when outside playing. I am also house-broken and crate trained. I sleep in my crate at night and also when my owners are away. I eat twice a day; at 7:00 am and at 4:30 pm. When I settle down for the evening I like to lay with my lady owner with my head in her lap until it is time for bed. Once I am in bed (my crate) I am down for the whole night. I am a good dog. I do have a lot of energy, very playful, and I am still learning; however, my owners are seniors and don't have the energy that I have. For that reason, they love me so much and want the best for me, that they are putting me up for adoption in hopes of finding a good family and home with the same energy level as me.  Fearful/Anxious

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Hi! I'm Luther. I am a 5 year old, vaccinated, neutered, male yellow lab that's looking for a chance to show I am a good boy even though I do have some quirks and complexes. I have to take a lot of medication to get by in my days, I have a lot of anxiety without them and I need someone that can spend a lot of time with me and not mind how much attention I require. I'm very nervous, but I do have a lot of love for the people I am closest with, they soothe me by petting me and playing fetch with me. I need somewhere that I can run in a fenced in yard, chase a ball, and that I don't have to share my owner with any ... (Read More)other pets or kids because I just can't quite trust myself when I'm overly excited. I have messed up a couple times and gotten overly nervous and nipped at people because I just didn't know what to do with all my energy. I didn't mean to scare them or hurt them, I just didn't know what to do with myself! My first owner gave me away because they didn't have the time for my issues, and now my foster mommy just had a baby and I will get jealous. So if you have a lot of love and patience to give, and don't have kids over, or have any other pets, I would love to try to find my forever home with you (Less)

Hello! My name is Newman and I love people soooo much! I would love to be the best friend of a family or an individual. I couldn't be happier than when my humans get home from work so that I can show them how much I love and missed them by playing some fetch and a little tug-of-war. I have some young friends in the neighborhood where I have been living. They come to visit me frequently and we have such a good time! If no one has time to play with me, I will play by myself. After all, you have to make the most of things, right? If allowed, I love to sleep at the foot of the bed, but I am equally happy to be on the floor nearby, as long as I ... (Read More)am close to my humans. In a perfect world, my day would consist of waking up with my humans, having a little breakfast, going for a walk and then returning home to spend the day playing with my besties. In the evening we could have dinner and relax in front of the TV and maybe if I've been good they'll give me a before bed snack bone. While my world revolves around my people, I don't particularly care to share the attention of my people with other dogs. I have been around young puppies for a short period of time before. They were kind of interesting. I sniffed them periodically and watched them play a lot. I'm not sure what to make of them, but I was OK with them. I don't, however, care to share my space with other adult dogs. I haven't spent any time around cats or other animals, so I'm not sure whether I like them or not. But whenever we are on a walk and I see a rabbit, frog or any other critter I absolutely want to chase them down. I think that could be great fun! When we go on walks, I get kind of nervous of people on bikes or running. I don't know what they are doing, but I don't like it, so I bark at them and let them know how I feel about it. If I sound like the best friend that you have been waiting for, I would love to meet you! I am house trained and know some basic commands. If you are ready to be my strong pack leader, we might make a great team! I am also already neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and current on my vaccines. And, my adoption fee is only $125.00 Looking forward to meeting you, Newman To meet or adopt Newman, please visit www.dogworksohio.com for our online application. (Less)

She is laid back, loves a good chew toy or even a walk. She would do best in a home without small children because let's face it, sharing is over rated. If you want a sweet cuddle bug Aurora is the one! Aurora is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm tested. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs.     Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
