Rescue Me ID: 18-06-20-00287Molly (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Molly. I am about 5 years old and I weigh about 100 pounds. I was brought into the pound because my owner was in a nursing home. I am a very good girl and I like being around other dogs at the pound. I have always been a house dog and i am house broken. If you are looking for a great dog please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed ... (Read More)with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. He is not good with cats, dogs smaller then him or any smaller animal. He is not aggressive with children but will jump on them. He knows how to sit and lay but will not stay.

Dodge will be a year old on June 5, 2018. He has not been fixed. He is UTD on vaccinations. He has only been around an older male dog - no cats, no children. He is protective of the home, but slightly aggressive during play. He is needy where attention is concerned, to the point of being jealous of our other dog when he receives attention. He needs room to run and play. Our home is too small for his needs anymore. He absolutely loves water and being outside. He is a chewer, which is the main reason he has to be rehomed per our landlord.

Enjoys running in yard and we have started using beeper collar on him and responds well. He is an alpha male and does not do well with other alpha dogs. He really needs a good home and is a very good watch dog. Sleeps well at night and loves to chew bones. He will be your best friend and will wake up next to you each morning.     Buddy is an exceptionally & cute sweet 7 to 9 month old Golden/Lab mix male pup that was rescued from a high kill dog pound/shelter. Docile, kind, gentle, with an endearing 'baby boy' personality, Buddy just wants to love you & be your best friend. He has an adorable manner, and likes to proudly & sweetly 'parade' with a toy in his mouth for you to see. Eager to please and submissive, Buddy loves the company of other dogs, especially of equally gentle nature. To build Buddy's confidence, a home with a slightly older, established, equally kind resident dog would be optimal. Because of his youth, a home with older children also would be ... (Read More)optimal. Buddy has a 'bobbed' tail. Buddy is neutered, has been de-wormed, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Michael - AVAIL 3/4! :) M, 10 y/o, 66 lbs Lab mix ///// Michael is looking for someone who's home most of the day who he can walk and hang out with. This amazingly sweet & gentle boy follows you EVERYWHERE around the house - inside and out! He gets along with everybody - humans, dogs, and cats included. He may be senior and recovering from years of neglect but he can walk and climb stairs on his own, wakes you up in the morning to get out of bed, and won't hesitate to tell you you're taking too long! ///// NOTE: We think that years of back arthritis pain (see HISTORY below) may have encouraged Michael to lay ... (Read More)around continuously for years as evidenced by his atrophied back leg muscles and callouses. However, he has responded far better than we had hoped to minimal amounts of oral anti-inflamatories and today walks and negotiates steps completely on his own! ///// HISTORY: Michael & Michelle were impounded by animal control officers after their owner died and were moments from being euthanized. We rescued both of them and brought them straight to our veterinarian. Michael was weak, could barely stand (let alone walk!) and was suffering from a respiratory infection - unfortuntaely all things that would have turned adopters away at the kill-shelter. Evaluation & X-rays revealed he has really good mobility in his hips but his spine is about 75% bridged due to arthritis. Our vet looked at his tumors and does NOT recommend risking surgery to remove them as they were determined in X-rays to be non-invasive and due to his older age. He is not neutered for the same reason. His respiratory issues have been resolved and Michael is on a simple 'as needed' plan of oral anti-inflammatory and anti-pain pills 'as needed'. In just a few weeks he's turned into a happy-go-lucky boy, walking, following people around the house, and wagging his tail at everyone! ///// FOSTER / ADOPTION Our adoptable pups are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered (if able), and fully vetted! If you are interested in meeting this pup (meet n' greet) to foster or adopt, please submit an application via our adoption form: Application (to Meet n' Greet & Adopt): https://oshiestailwagon.wufoo.com/forms/oshies-tail-wagon-application-for-adoption/ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-25-00091Edgar (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Edgar. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. I was found as a stray in Lisbon and I was picked up by the pound. I was very shy and scared when I first arrived here at the pound, but after a couple of weeks, I have warmed up and turned into a very sweet boy. I am super clean here at the pound. I rarely have accidents in my kennel at night, so I have likely been someone's house dog. I am very sweet and cuddly with people. I also get along well with most other dogs and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption ... (Read More)fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered.
