Rescue Me ID: 14-12-20-00424BECKY (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BECKY was once in San Antonio Animal Care Services, but she thought she had found her perfect forever family. Sadly, they did not give her a chance and she was returned to once again be on death row. Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue saved her and brought her back to the pack. BECKY is extremely active, LOVES her toys, LOVES to run and chase around, she can get vocal when she plays and gets excited, but that is pretty standard for dogs, just like excited children lol. BECKY is responsive to commands although I have not done any training with her, she will be very easy to train. BECKY would suit an active family who can give her ... (Read More)both the mental and physical exercise that she needs to keep her busy and out of mischief. BECKY has an estimated date of birth of around 2nd February 2013. She is spayed, rabies, current on her vaccines, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease, de-wormed and micro-chipped She is great with kids, as long as they respect her boundaries and understand that dogs too need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how she is with cats, however, she is still relatively young and could be taught to leave them alone, if she did have that 'interest'. BECKY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170. Although located in Texas we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC., a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) is $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. Or application can be found on the website under the application tab. More photo's can be found under the GSD tab by clicking on his picture. (Less)

Lab    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Looking for a foster situation - would refund money when he can join his family again. Family is not in a permanent home. They would like to have Hutch back if they can locate someplace where they can have him. He needs attention, very lovable. House trained and is great with the kids. I'd keep him but I have a dog that doesn't do well with him. Breaking my heart - hoping someone can foster him while the family gets on their feet. Sweet dog!

Lab    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack is a great dog, well trained. Loves to play fetch, knows most common commands. Very good with kids. Very loving and needs to be with a family that can spend a lot of time with him. That's why we're letting him go, 2) small children and another on the way. No time for Jack. He stays inside most of the time, so he wouldn't like living outside.

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sam is about 4 years old and he's a yellow lab and German Shepard mix. He's extremely smart and has learned so much since being in a foster home. Sam is potty trained and knows his basic commands. He's great on a leash. He is extremely calm and loving. He loves cuddling and napping. Sam would be the perfect family dog. He absolutely adores children. He would do best in a low key household as he's very relaxed and prefers being lazy over too much excitement . He gets along well with other dogs, but Sam would do best in a home with no other dogs or older dogs who like to relax. This dog is located in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, but is ... Rescue Me ID: 14-12-15-00307Molly (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I'm Molly and I have been in the CARE program for a long time. So when I got to CARE I was super scared of everything. All I wanted to do was run and play with my doggie friends or be by myself and just come see you humans when I felt like it. But I have good news. I have this terrific foster home and they have taught me some really cool things here. So let's start with all the positives. I am a young 2 year old, female chocolate lab weighing about 50 lbs. I happen to be a really beautiful and incredibly sweet girl. I am potty trained and crate trained. I'm walking on the leash with a harness and actually liking it!! I love other dogs ... (Read More)because I am so happy and playful, plus other dogs around make me feel more comfortable. I would really like a home with another fun, energetic dog, because I wear out my foster sibling. We are not sure about cats or kids because I don't have those in my foster home. My foster Mom takes me on car rides and I am starting to like seeing all the sights. My foster Mommy gives me lots of tummy rubs, which I love, but I am still shy. I am a little scared of new environments and things at first, but settle down. If you like me and want me to be part of your family you have to understand that it takes me a little while to settle in, more than one or two days, so you have to be patient to see my true colors. This dog is located in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, but is ready to fly to a new home with an approved adopter. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Bear is a super sweet and low energy, people loving dog. He has been with our family since 14 weeks old. He is an inside dog and does not like to be alone outside. He only goes out to do his business unless he has a people with him. He does not bark, and has no agression. He is very healthy, though he has high alergy to wheat and corn, and is a bit wobbly in the hips. We are hoping to find a family for him with at least one person who is mostly at home. Sadly our stay-at-home family had to become a gone-all-day one and he needs more human time than we have to give.

Seeking open hearts to welcome Be BE Home for the Holidays (6 photos) I got a call from Brad Booker head Animal Control Officer from the Josephine County Animal Shelter for assistance. So often Animals Control Officers - referred to as 'Dog Catchers' and looked upon as some faceless, heartless entity with a snare in hand driving a caged truck just looking for some wayward stray! But truth be told- Our officers have loving hearts! Now we are looking for yours. One of many stories now told: Brad Booker came across a sweet old lady in mid eighties on the outskirts of the County who could no longer care adequately for her old companion Ms. Be ... (Read More)Be. Ms. Be Be's advanced years and maladies would make her difficult to place. Brad Booker sounded the Bells of Christmas - and we heard them! One of our devoted Shelter Friends volunteers Pat Shaffner- Hall stepped up to foster this old gal until we could find her a warm home and loving hearts. Her nails needed a manicure desperately! Cheryl from Cheryl's Mobile Grooming came on her sleigh before you could say HO HO HO! Dr. Tom gave her an exam- and although some of her medical issues are treatment prohibitive because of her advanced age- He treated her ear infections and gave eye medicine. Sweet Old Be Be does have tumors in her eyes- and is blind. She also is surely deaf. She has tumors under her gums-. But she is a sweet old girl approximately 13 years old with a gentle heart seeking to rest herself at your feet for all Holidays to come! contact: raleigh@savethewhiskers.or (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dear Pit-bull and Animal Lovers, 12/9/2014 Toby is a beautiful, loving, 9yr old, blk (with a white chest) pit/lab mix (looks mostly pit). I rescued him 8 1/2yrs ago from some horrible people that had starved and beaten him almost to death. I was going to take him in, nurse him back to health (both physically and emotionally) and find him a wonderful home ... but I fell in love with him and he's been with me ever since. On Oct. 2nd of this yr. (about 10wks ago) I was in a horrible accident. I was attacked and mauled by a one hundred pound dog (I weigh 130 lbs) both my ... (Read More)arms were so badly injured they thought I might lose my left one. I was in the OHSU trauma center for 7 days, and then transferred to a skilled nursing/rehabilitation facility. Both of my hands have suffered permanent movement lose and nerve damage A month and a half later when I was finally ready to go home, I opened my front door to find that my home had been burglarized and ransacked beyond imagination. They went through everything, drawers, closets etc ... All of my most valuable belongings ... just about everything worth anything is gone. My house is practically empty!! They even went through my food shelves and emptied some dry food mixes all over my floors! The anger, pain, and shock are overwhelming! To top it off I received an eviction notice from the home I've lived in for the last 30yrs. Which means I am going to lose the most valuable treasures of all ... my 3 pets. I have a 17 1/2yr old blk lab, my 9 yr old pit/lab mix and my beautiful sweet little kitty. The most urgent re-home or foster home is for my baby boy Toby. I lived alone and Toby was my constant shadow. It was just the four of us ... myself, Toby, Harley, and kitty. Things were pretty peaceful and quite. But since my accident he's been with my daughter who has 4 children, three under age 7yrs. I've watched him in her home and he's so nervous and upset; it just kills me to see him this way! He seems to be eating well but he's lost a lot of weight and my daughter says she seen blood in his stool recently. I don't know if it's nerves or what's going on, but I think it's critical to get him somewhere that's a little less stressful. I want him back so badly (and my other pets too of course but Toby was especially close; he really never left my side) but I'm in an adult foster care until I can find permanent housing. Please oh please if there's anything you can do to help with Toby or if you have any suggestions please contact me ASAP! My name is Kimberly Shay and my phone number is 971-678-2491. Please don't hesitate to call anytime. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Kimberly Shay P.S. I forgot to mention that I have Multiple Sclerosis and degenerative disk disease. I am 56yrs old and in pretty good shape. Most things I can do for myself; I'm a fighter. But the events since 10/2 are just about more than I can take. Losing my pets and my home is one of the hardest things I've ever had to face. (Less)

Meet the good looking COOPER! He is almost a year old and would love to celebrate his upcoming birthday with his own family. Cooper was just 3 months old when he and his siblings (one being Cleotis who is also up for adoption) were saved from a San Antonio kill shelter. He was labeled a German Shepher mix, but we believe him to be more of a lab/collie blend. Since Cooper has grown up with the pack here at the rescue, he is extremely dog socialized and a very confident young pup. He is puppy energetic and loves to chase and play with the other dogs. Cooper is very loving and affectionate and never passes up the chance to have his belly ... (Read More)rubbed or his ears scratched. Cooper is dreaming of an active family that is looking for a young dog they can train and take to lots of places letting him experience the different sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. He does walk happily on a leash but needs more training as any one year old would. Cooper is great with kids, as long as they respect his boundaries and understand, that dogs too, need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how he is with them. However, he is still young and could be taught to leave them alone, if he shows to have that 'interest'. Cooper is neutered, current on his vaccines and micro chipped. He recently tested negative for heart-worm and tick-borne-disease. He is a healthy 51-55 pounds and we think he should stay around this weight. Cooper (and don't forget his brother Cleotis) is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog rescue. We are located in Devine, south of San Antonio, in the high kill state of Texas. Our adoption fee is $170. We do offer our dogs for adoption to safe and loving families that live along the East and West Coasts. We use professional transportation companies to ensure their safe arrival. (Transportation is an additional fee of $175-$200.) Our application can be found on our website under the application tab. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. She has not been crated at the rescue, dogs have free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have ... (Read More)neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. Thankfully the surgery was 100% success, the distemper was stopped from spreading and because the neurological symptoms were caught almost immediately there are no neurological side effects of distemper symptoms. One downside is that BELLE has lost almost all of her teeth. This does not hinder her in anyway at all and she happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for battling and winning the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE has heard there are wonderful families in the Pacific Northwest and would love to be home with one of her own for the holidays. We will use Paws Without Borders to transport her 'home'. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Say hello to this awesome guy! Rothgar is looking for a new home. His family has changed and his personality is not fit for a toddler that is now zooming around the house. Rothgar would do best in an adult only home. He has lived with a very mellow Brittany Spaniel mix, and 2 indoor kitties with no problems. He is house trained, leash trained and know all the basic verbal and non verbal commands. Rothgar gets along with other dogs with proper intro. He ignores them while on leash walks. Rothgar loves chew toys, and bones. However he gets gastric upset with WHEAT and SWEET POTATO food and treats. Rothgar would make a great running ... (Read More)partner, or biking partner. He loves to run and can run VERY fast. Possibly a good Frisbee dog, he loves them, but will show his love by eating it if left out and unsupervised. Not destructive otherwise. He will alert to strangers and will make a wonderful companion for the right person or couple. Rothgar is miro-chipped and will be UTD on shots when adopted. This is a courtesy posting for Rothgar's owners, but I have spent some time with him and will participate in the adoption process to ensure the right home for Rothgar. If you have questions about Rothgar or would like to meet him please contact either Kimberly Thompson at CleanSlateRescue@gmail.com or Kevin Stolfo at kstolfo@gmail.com or 541-790-9016 Rothgar has spent quite some time in professional training due to some protective (food and territory) issues that he developed after moving into a much smaller house and yard and the birth of the family baby. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Everyone loves the movie 'Finding Nemo' right? Well, that is what this awesome little guy was named...and everyone will love him too. This handsome and silly boy is looking for his family to make his life complete! Nemo was found wandering and just trying to survive the ugly streets of the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas with his two brothers, Willis and Arnold. They were rescued recently and are now living a life that they could not have imagined before. Regular meals, love and affection, daily play time in the yard and a comfy bed are all things that were new and exciting for these boys. They also have a ton of friends now and ... (Read More)have learned how to socialize with other dogs, people and cats. Nemo is about 2 years old, 45 pounds and has a medium energy level. Nemo loves to go for long walks and play indoors after a nice jog. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is usually the leader of the pack of clowns. He loves people, but can be a bit shy for a moment when meeting new people. He has a moderate energy level, meaning he knows how to run and play, but also enjoys coming inside to just hang out with his people. Nemo is already crate-trained, knows some basic commands such as sit and settle, and is housebroken. Nemo was sadly heartworm positive when he was rescued, but that is a very common problem with the strays in Houston. He has been treated and completed it like the champ that he is. This Nemo is not a clownfish, but we can guarantee that he's fun and silly like a clown. If you are looking for a great dog that will brighten your days, Nemo is a perfect match. Nemo currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers that live here who help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other states via the United Airlines PetSafe program. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $150. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We are seeking a family for our beautiful 6 year old male black lab. Must be a home with no other dogs, and lots of room to run. Would be a great addition for the active family that is into recreational activities such as camping, hiking, etc. He knows basic commands, is micro-chipped, neutered, shots up to date, potty-trained, current with Heartgard and Frontline, and healthy. Gus is not trained for hunting and is frightened by gunshots, thunder, etc. We have taken him to All Creatures Animal Hospital since he was 6 weeks old, and they have his complete health history. He loves swimming at the lake, chasing tennis balls, going for rides ... (Read More)and is good walking on a leash. When off leash, he stays with you and does not wonder off, just barks at you to 'keep throwing the ball'. He is a great loveable dog, with the famous black lab personality, BUT he CANNOT be around other dogs. If you have an active lifestyle, don't own a dog at this time and don't plan on having more than one dog, he would be a 'good fit'. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SHADOW is a miracle walking. He was saved at the 11th hour from a high-kill shelter. SHADOW is a two year old boy. He is a gorgeous black lab-pit mix. He is neutered and has a microchip. Current with all his shots. This boy needs lots of love since he literally gave up on life at the shelter. He has been in a boarding kennel waiting and waiting for a forever home that he deserves. Can you offer that to him? He would be best as an only dog. He is large, about 90 pounds so older kids would be best.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Oregon
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.
