Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Aggie is our beloved and adored family pet. She is approximately 18 months old, house trained, heel trained, good with recall, loves to play fetch, swim, play at the dog park and with other dogs and adores snuggling. She does still enjoy puppy activities like chew toys (both bought and self designated) but she's my sweetheart and this is breaking my heart. She alerts to my migraines so it's especially hard to give her up as we've begun training her for her public access test as a service dog. Unfortunately, one of my children is very ill and requires ongoing hospitalization. As a single mother, I can't justify the amount of time Aggie has ... (Read More)been and will be left on her own. I'd love for her to go to a family who wants a dog with energy. She's bouncy and goofy, definitely with the Lab silliness. She bonds tightly with her people and loves hard. I'd love to meet you if you're interested in talking to me about her. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Yager is a 5 year old lab mix boy weighing in at 72 lbs, although he could afford to gain a few more. He is active, exuberant, and a very good listener. Yager knows how to sit, shake, lay down, roll over, and speak--and loves to show them off! Although he is active, he also calms down pretty easily and loves to sleep at your feet. He prefers to be only 4 legged King of his castle- travels well in car and probably no cats- as he will chase. He could use a bit more leash manners- and does better with harness. If we know has lived with cats or farm animals will be stated above in biography. Otherwise- we don't know. If you inquire by email- please tell us about you, your family, your yard, other animals, children, and your expectations of your new pet and what your new pet can expect from you. When you do so, we can better address your inquiry. Shelter number 541 474-5458 for status of availability as some may have been adopted since this post, and about any pending spay/neuter surgery if noted as sometimes spay/neuter appointment may be sooner if a cancellation is available. Dogs noted as a Great American Shelter Dog are noted as such because we are not sure of the breed and can only give out best guess. See more at: www.savethewhiskers.org Alternate Contact Raleigh@savethewhiskers.org or text 541 660 6578 name of dog. It is always nice if you send an inquiry about a specific adoptable guest via email to tell us about you, your family and other pets, your yard, and most importantly, your expectations of your new family member so we can answer your questions appropriately as best as possible. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away! They will need love, patience, a strong owner who will let them know what is expected of them and what they can expect from their new family. It may take an afternoon or it may take a week or so! But they need homes and families who will bring them back to knowing what family is! Puppies: Please understand they are puppies; not potty trained; not good or bad with kids, dogs, cats. They are pliable puppies ready for you to imprint good manners, social skills and training. You are encouraged to follow up with training after they are finished with shot series and or at the direction of your veterinarian. A happy healthy well socialized puppy is a happy family! You may be asked to make a refundable deposit for spay/neutering. Inquire at the Shelter. General Adoption Fees for Dog: Adult dogs and puppies- $125, Senior dogs 7 and over $50. Veterans are half price / $62.50 with presentation of government issued VA ID. For Josephine County fee includes first year licensing. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography!     Molly's foster wrote the following about her: Molly really is a very special dog and deserves the best...Molly is actually a dream dog. She is happy just sitting next to a human. She gets along great with her other 2 Labs, but when they are next to a human she just forces her way up front to be the center of attention. Molly is very calm, loves to sleep and has not chewed anything in her house even when unattended. Molly needs someone who will not mind her wanting to almost be on top of them. Bright but amenable, he responds well to commands and is very trainable. He's house trained, and can use a doggy door. He's crate trained but is also fine in the house. He would do well in an environment with other dogs, or with various opportunities to play and exercise. He's going to grow ... Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I regret to offer you my amazing dog. I would like to find her a nice home for the rest of her life. Why I must give her away: Last month she fought my girlfriend's dog for the third time. She fought her over attention. The first and second time were over a bone and food. Every time they have fought my dog has been stressed about travel/moving. She has also fought my cat, and some other dogs. She needs to go to a home where she is the only animal of the house. We muzzle her when she will potentially encounter other dogs. We do not take her to the dog park. She actually plays well with 5/6 of the dogs that she meets. Her best ... (Read More)friend is my girlfriend's dog, and for 2 1/2 years they have played together and existed harmoniously 99.999% of the time. If you can't take her but want to help spread the word, please copy this link and share it on your facebook. Stats: She is 5 1/2 years old, and her birthday is in April. She's a lab mix, maybe with pit but it's not for sure, the dad was a mystery of the night. Her papers say 'Labrador retriever mix'. She weighs about 55 pounds. She is up to date on shots. Her name is Hester. I have had her since she was a little puppy. She is from Florida. Her personality: She leans towards high strung. She's very affectionate, seriously, she wants to give kisses literally all the time. She's very protective of her turf. She has a super cute bark and kind of howls a little bit sometimes as a bark. She doesn't bark when lonely (like if you needed to leave her at home she wouldn't bark from separation anxiety the way some dogs do) She's a super fast runner, and loves to play with a tennis ball. She loves to swim, especially if you throw a tennis ball into the river for her. She's not aggressive towards other dogs, just very alpha and not afraid if another dog challenges her. She wants to sleep in your bed. Questions before contacting me: Do you have a fenced yard? I think she would do really well with a fenced yard. Do you live in an apartment? If so, are you home very much? I would like her to go to a home where she gets lots of attention. Do you plan to keep and love her until she dies? Would she be the only pet of the house? Do you have small children? She has bitten a drunken guy that grabbed her (that guy was crazy, and it was his own fault) and me when I've been separating dog fights. We don't think she should go to a home with small children. 10 years old should be fine as long as the kids are mature. Do you understand what here strengths are? She's affectionate and protective. Not good for off leash at the dog park. We suggest you muzzle her around other dogs (she's used to it). She would thrive with a loving owner and territory to call her own. Process for adoption: Email me, and please include your phone number. We can talk over the phone, and I will want to know your full name. I will drive her to you and you can meet her, if all goes well I will come over and do a home visit. There will be a $50 rehome fee. She comes with food, flea meds, bedding, a crate and a leash. If anything goes wrong you can call me and I will come get her at once. Please be advised: I am not selling this dog, or meeting you at Petco to give her to you. I will want this process to take 2 or 3 days for you to be sure this is what you want. I absolutely will need to check out the home she's going to. Sincerely, Jan Korvick (Less)

Loving, loyal and smart, Omar is the kind of dog that will be your friend for life. He is a special needs dog, and by that we mean he has some quarks, mainly that he suffers from situational anxiety. We want to be up front about his needs so that he finds a new home that is an excellent fit. While Omar is very loyal, it takes him a while to become comfortable with new people. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old and over the course of 5 years have come to understand his needs very well. He exhibits fear based aggression when nervous around new people or children. When given time and proper introductions, he is able to get to know new ... (Read More)people and once you are in his 'inner circle' he is relaxed and happy. He has never bit anyone but he can be intimidating when he lunges and barks. We have worked with a behaviorist and trainer for the past 3 years and he has made excellent progress. Due to a new addition to our family we can no longer keep him. Our son is 16 months now and we've tried to make it work but in the end we can't trust him fully with our child who is unpredictable and makes Omar nervous. We are heartbroken that we have to say goodbye to Omar as he has been a dear part of our family. We know what a wonderful companion he can be when in the right household. To help with the transition we would like to pay for the first session with the behaviorist and trainer. Omar responds well to training, loves to play ball and go on hikes and short runs. He needs a home without kids and most likely without another dog (we aren't sure about cats). Omar is very sweet with those he trusts and is really smart. In the right setting we know how wonderful he can be! (Less)

Zoey is about 1.5-years-old. She is either a Rottie/Chocolate Lab mix or Rottie/Australian Shepherd. She has beautiful, light brown Chocolate Lab eyes. Very, very sweet, mellow, girl who loves people! She's good with other dogs but may chase cats. Zoey was hit by a car and found in the bushes by animal control. She sat in a shelter for three weeks with her left front leg broken in three places and with luxated elbow. We found out about her and brought her to safety and had her leg operated on. The breaks healed well, but her elbow is frozen in a position that her leg is off the ground. However, Zoey can run, jump, and play pretty much as ... (Read More)well as a normal dog. She is crate and house-trained, plus spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Zoey is located in the Eugene-area. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting, or even fostering, one of our dogs. We are a federal non-profit rescue. We do require a completed application and a home visit prior to adopting.     Louie has been waiting nearly his entire life for his forever home to find him. He was surrendered by his family when he was a year old and has been in rescues, shelters or boarding since then. He is now 5 or 6 yrs old. Louie is mellow, well trained and couldn't be more loving. He greets everyone he meets with a smile and a tail wag. So why is this handsome boy still homeless after 5 years? Louie's a big guy and has struggled with being reactive when meeting new dogs. For most people, that is a tough and intimidating behavior to manage. But Louie has been living a trainer at Tug Dogs, who hahelped him learn to make better choices when he ... (Read More)sees other dogs. That doesn't mean he's ready to hang out in the local dog park. His new person will have a few simple rules to follow and will get some guidance from his trainer, but Louie is ready to show some lucky family what a smart boy he is and how hard he is trying to make the right choices. He has been waiting such a long time and has such a huge heart. It will be easiest for Louie to succeed as an only dog, but with a confidant and calm person he could live with another dog. Please share this post and help Louie finally find the home he has been dreaming of. To talk to us about whether this big lug is right for your family, please contact (805) 735-3165 or info@shadowsfund.org. Louie is currently in Sacramento, CA. We are willing to travel anywhere on the west coast to help Louie find his forever home. (Less)

Hi! My name is Cheeze; I'm adorable, affectionate, loyal and smart! As you can see, I'm also very handsome. I'm a 4 year old pit bull lab mix. I'm currently being fostered and looking for my forever family! Because of my loyal nature, I'd really thrive best in a home with one or two adults and a secure yard where we can russle and play fetch! As an added bone, I am a total cuddle bug! My 'pit fall' is I need a little basic training.

Tupac - lab/pittie 4 yr old boy, about 65-70 lbs - This guy is a joy to be around, very gentle & loving, excellent on leash, listens to commands, very intelligent, not big energy. He & his brother Biggie are lab mixes & have been in our rescue for a long while due to, we assume, the black dog syndrome. That's the only reason we can figure because both Tupac & his brother are hands down no brainer dogs. Would fit right into a family w/kids & or course, any human who will love him!! He deserves big love so an adoption application & homecheck is required to be considered as Tupac's family. His adoption fee will include transport since he is ... lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Oregon Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
