Megan is a 6 year old lab/pit mix, maybe a lab / boxer? we don't really know she's a black sweet dog. She loves to go on walks, and is super happy when you come home. She can be spazzy and run around then takes naps. Like most rescue dogs she will need an owner that has patients to let her get use to another dog. She is curious about cats, will chase if they run, but she is easily redirected. She's not big into playing, she just wants a soft spot to lay while getting pets, and she's very eager to please. If she looks the like the right pup for us please send us an email at puplandiadogrescue@gmail.com for an application.

Hi everyone! It's me- Luke! I am a 11-month-old Shepherd/Lab mix and I'm looking for a family full of children! I just love children, especially babies, there's nothing better than cuddling up with a couple of kids and snoozing the time away. I'm very shy but give me about ten minutes to warm up and we will be best friends for life. I love other animals- I just want to make everyone happy. No matter the species. I do need a little bit of training, I get so excited when I go for walks and meet new people! I can't wait to be a part of my new family. I'll be an amazing little brother! Rescue Me ID: 17-02-11-00191Treadmill Tara (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We have the big reveal for our girl Treadmill Tara! Tara a 1 1/2-year-old Pit Lab mix who was an over the top no manners 56 pound, spayed girl. She had absolutely no discipline. But she was loving and eager to learn. She is now ready for the big reveal! Tara is ready for a new home. What will be the best fit is perhaps a moderately mature leader with no children; no children is the order of the day as children tend to be unpredictable; perhaps a Veteran that is active and wants just a 'You and Me' relationship to take hiking, running, maybe fishing on the banks of the river! A person that is willing to learn to keep her mentally and ... (Read More)physically stimulated on a treadmill for 30 to 45 minutes a day- or even twice a day! She loves her treadmill. She has had some playmates- boys only- but can be a bit much - for them as she tends to play rough. So a just a 'You and Me' companionship really is encouraged. No small animals- maybe a goldfish would be ok. Shelter Friends, a non-profit organization supporting the Animals of the Josephine County Animal Shelter will provide the following: First- She would love to be the joint benefactor of our Pet to Vet Program. This program will subsidize her adoption fee. We look to offer follow-up support by providing a couple of one on one training sessions here in Grants Pass to teach her new leader Treadmill enrichment and direction and offer a gently used treadmill. Additionally, 3 visits with John Parrett, local dog behaviorist if adopted within 50 miles or one hour of Grants Pass. She will come with a new bed, leash, and starter bag of food. Treadmill Tara is seeking a dedicated adopter who will follow through and maintain the great progress she has made so she and her new adopter will continue to enjoy all each has to offer one another. These training sessions must be set in place immediately upon adoption to ensure a smooth transition for a long and full, life-long companionship. For more information please contact Raleigh 541 660 6578 or Laura Milnes at the Josephine County Animal Shelter 541 474-5458 This is what her foster guardian that gave her structure has to say,- 'and maybe a bit redundant,- 'Tara is an amazingly sweet, female about 1 1/2 years old and is a beautiful black color with a white chest. Tara has a real zest for life and is hoping to find someone with an active dog life that is wanting a walking, hiking, running type companion. As a special bonus, Tara has been treadmill trained so when life gets busy or the weather throws in a twist Tara still gets her exercise. This girl loves her treadmill time and will happily jump on requesting her 'workout' each day. Tara is current on vaccinations, spayed, crate trained, treadmill trained and has a good introduction to basic commands like sit, down, bed, wait and off. Although the first part of her life was not stable or structured and she ended up a little out of control and in the shelter. This incredibly loving girl has made some really positive changes and is ready to bring a lot of love and joy to her new person. Tara has been around other dogs and has had play opportunities with some well behaved male dogs but isn't usually a good match with other females. Not all dogs are a match for her as she plays rough. Her best fit would be a home as an only pet. Tara's ideal home would be a kid-less (she likes kids but her plays style can be energetic and rough and does best with the calmer consistency of adults) person or couple that is willing to continue Tara's training. She's had a great start understanding leadership and boundaries and needs someone to continue assuming this leadership role with her to help keep her relaxed and happy.' If you think you can offer Treadmill Tara- or Tara a loving structured home, please call the shelter or email so we can arrange a meet and greet here in Josephine County. - See more at: http://savethewhiskers.org/5045/tara/#sthash.nHJ93xGy.dpuf (Less)

Lab    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If these two 9 year old bonded cousins do not tug at your heart- please share with your friends. Yin and Yang- female and male respectively are seeking a loving home together. Yin the female gets on well with cats- but not Yang- he just appears much too interested. Currently in foster- they started out in foster together; but foster dad is allergic to Yin as she has an undercoat. So, another foster family was found but it appears Yang gets a bit too much on the go after a cat. Now they are in separate foster homes and their hearts are breaking for each other. Yang loves to have a conversation with you. Yin is really quiet. They so love ... (Read More)being part of the family- going to bus stop and greeting children. This is what foster family that had both had to say. 'Yin and Yang are honestly the most mellow dogs I've ever met. Very little phases them - including the loud noises of an excited 5 year old screaming at the top of his lungs. They are beyond patient letting my son love on them with all the force he can muster. And while they are senior dogs, they still have their puppy moments. They love to play tug with their stuffed lion. Yang loves to chase a ball - though giving it up once he gets it can require a bit of a chase on your part as well. Yin is a lover and that's all she wants to do - have her head petted, stomach rubbed and give you kisses. They are truly the sweetest pair of labs! Yin and Yang have spent their entire lives together and need to remain that way. A family medical issue was presented and with weeping heart had to be given up. Please help me find their forever homes. There is a reasonable rehoming fee to offset their medical and care. Yang is not neutered; I think he is too old- and he does not leg lift or mark. She is spayed. Please tell me about you, your family, other pets, yard, own or rent; your expectations of your new pooch, what pooch can expect from you! Please provide this information and city in which you live with contact phone number. This is not a first come first serve placement. The objective is to find the perfect home for pooch and family. If you do not provide requested information- please do not expect a reply to your inquiry. Please provide your email to which I can respond and phone number for serious inquiries. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Leja is coming back to LITTLE RED DOG RESCUE. Nothing she did wrong. So now she's looking for a new home. Here is a bio her family wrote about her. My name is Leja and I am a very sweet, very energic 16 month old lab/pit mix puppy. I am mixed with black and chocolate lab. I love children of all ages, I just adores babies and have lots of patience with toddlers. I just love to play and I go through toys (so I need someone that can keep me in a good supply of toys) I just love to give kisses, I really love to be loved on. I am still working on my manners and how to get along with other dogs. I haven't been around that many cats, so I ... (Read More)don't know how I will do around them. I love my family, it's just that they live in an apartment complex and I have a lot of energy and I really need someone that has a fenced in yard, so I can run free. They take me for walks a lot, but I just have more energy than that. I am still a puppy. Unfortunately, I have some health issues that my family have been helping me with. I have chronic ear infections. I have a solution that needs to be put into my ears once a week to clean them out. My mom has been doing this for me, so I will need someone else to help me in my new home. I am also on a special prescription diet. I am only allowed have Royal Canine dog food. I am not allowed any other food. I still will try and sneak other foods, I am still a puppy. My mom has looked around to find out where to get my food the cheapest and it's at Pet Smart (it is $78 there). The vet says I have gastro problems as well as skin allergies. That is the reason that I am on the special dog food. I am up to date on my vaccinations as well as I am spayed and chipped. The vet says that I need to go see a specialist, since my liver functions have been out of whack. My parents haven't had a chance to get me in with the specialist yet. I have a Wellness Plan with Pet Smart. I will miss my family dearly, but I need a family that has a fenced in yard; so I can run around and get all my energy out. I need a family that will continue to work with my training and can afford me and all of my medical needs. If you are interested please call or text 971-240-0568 (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Here is a little about Boomer. -Enjoys to be outside and run (especially in large fields with open space / does better with less people and more space) -Loves the snow and water / great swimmer -Loves to go in the car and go on adventures -Potty trained -No longer bolts out the front door/car -Can sit (especially for treats :) ) -Can be a picky eater / gets bored with food and needs a variety -Up to date on all shots/medicine/flea meds -Healthy weight (82 pounds) / eats 2 meals a day -Microchipped -Neutered -Does not do well with cats (chases/attacks them) -Nervous when meeting new people, especially men or individuals in hats / ... (Read More)can be very shy or may bark -Does not like when new people come into the home - gets aggressive/defensive -Unpredictable with dogs (Boomer goes to doggy day care and has stayed overnight, several times, at a cage free dog center, where dogs are off leash and free to roam around together. They have never had any problems with him and he passed their socialization test. However, he can be unpredictable and defensive, especially of his people/home. When Boomer feels nervous/threatened/protective, especially when his people are near by, he will bark and has charged/attacked dogs. Recently, Boomer attacked a dog he has previously been playing with because the dog got to close to me and wanted to play. Boomer has gone to several dog parks and enjoys to run around - he will sometimes bark/circle large men but in general he does okay) -Barks when new people come over/in the backyard at things walking by -Thinks he is a lap dog. Boomer is VERY loving once he trusts you and will want to be on your lap or close to you at all times -Boomer is a shadow and loves to his people around :) -Has some separation anxiety - Boomer is crate trained and I have found he does best in his crate! He is MORE nervous when he has access to the whole house. Boomer would prefer to tag along, and doesn't always love going in his crate, but once you tell him to go inside, he will go in and lay down. If he has access to the whole house, he will scratch at doors/try to get out/bark a lot. (Less)

Belle is a 2 year old, 43 lbs Lab/Terrier blend. Belle is an easygoing, calm girl who LOVES to play fetch with her ball, inside and out. She's also great on a leash and loves going for walks or hikes, or just sunning and playing in the backyard. Belle is very content to curl up inside on a doggy bed, or go outside and play fetch for as long as you can handle it! She's crate trained, house trained, can use a doggy door, and likes riding in the car. She can be dominant with other females, so she would do best in a home with no other female dogs or cats; she's fine with larger male dogs who are dominant. She is spayed, microchipped, current ...     I am looking to re-home my 10 month old puppy, Finnegan, he's a beautiful boxer/black lab mix. Unfortunately I'm in the process of starting my own business and sadly work is occupying far too much of my time to best take care of him. I adopted him from the humane society 4 months ago. He has had all of his shots, vaccinations, is neutered and already house-broken. He is very playful and gets along with the cat I have in the house. About him: Currently 10 months old, about 50 pounds (the vet says he shouldn't get any bigger). As a puppy he still has a lot of energy, so I'm hoping to find a home where his owners will be able to give ... (Read More)him the attention and love he deserves. He's friendly, loves meeting strangers and riding in the car as he usually travels with me everywhere I go. He even comes to work with me and sits calmly by my desk all day. It's worth noting that he has a tendency to be more aggressive in environments where there isn't a male around. For this reason we would suggest a home where there is at least one adult male to keep him in check. We tried to re-home him to a single female and he was too much for her to handle on her own. I can be contacted via cell at (256) 520 6917 or email hartlykins2@yahoo.com. Thank you, Joshua (Less)

Jackson is hoping to find a home for the New Year! He is a big 6 year old 75 lb Chocolate Lab mix (possibly pit and border collie)! He is friendly, happy, and loves to be the center of attention. This boy is STRONG and will need an owner who can keep up. Jackson knows some manners--sit, stay, lay down, shake, taking treats, etc--but sometimes just needs a little help remembering them, especially if he is around other people or is too excited to pay attention. :) He tends to be a couch potato at times but when he gets excited hes like a whole other dog and just wants to play! He will require dedication, patience and strong leadership- but he ... (Read More)wants to please and be your best friend! Please help me find a home where he can be the center of attention, play, run, go for walks and have a nice yard to chase the squirrels! We have had Jackson since he was 10 weeks old and he has been the best dog anyone could have so we would really like the home he goes to, to be his forever home. He has had some minor behavioral issues like separation anxiety and barking at everything but since we had our son those issues have resurfaced and it became clear that he prefers being an 'only child'. He was very protective of our son until he became mobile and wanted to play with Jackson. He now either walks away from him or growls so we would love him to have a home where there are no other pets or children and gets all the love and play he deserves. He is a lot of fun, loves to go for rides, and is a clean dog, easy to care for, and extremely cuddly and loveable. he has been living with a cat, but he really likes chasing others so cats are probably a no go as well. Please let Jackson into your heart and share in the joy his sweet soul has brought me and my husband for the last 6 years.     ala means the loved one in an African language: Nala is a chocolate lab retriever/Shar-Pei mix, approx. 2 years old. Nala is fully housebroken, Nala was pulled off A death row list in California, by a rescue who a couple months later closed their doors. Facing a return to the shelter, Rompin Paws and Almost Eden Rescue stepped up to give her a Better chance to find her forever family. Nala has an awesome Foster that worked with her, trained her and took her to agility classes. She listens well, loves attention and would make an awesome hiking partner. Nala is mostly Chocolate lab with a sprinkling of brindled Chinese Sharpei (ears) she is ... (Read More)roughly 45lbs Nala is scared of some men, so she takes a little while to warm up. we have been working with her to meet every person possible and have everyone give her a treat and it is working really well. she is developing trust again with all people. when she receives a treat, she will lick the givers hand. Nala is an awesome dog and just needs a patient family or woman who will work with her. She loves her country walks and looks forward to them every day. Housebroken, knows basic commands, a slap happy girl who loves life, cuddles and hugs and will make a loyal companion for the right family. she has bonded really well to my personal chow-shepard mix so she will do well as an only dog or as a companion with a gentle male Nala is shy of strangers but warms up with trust. She starts out with barking and being concerned, but if you ignore the bark and put your hand out she will start licking you, then with some sweet words and a treat, she is ready for play and cuddles. Nala will make an excellent watch dog and will be sure to let you know when strangers are about. Nala does love living in the country and we would love to see her go into a home on land and where her family will take her for walks or runs in nature. Nala is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines and rabies. we regularly treat her for worms and parasite as a control. we would also like to see her new owners continue her training and enroll her in a very good dog behavioral training school (Less)

Goose is such a wonderful soul! He has sadly spent most of his life in a kennel which is no fault of his own. He had a home after the first couple years of his life being kenneled but then they moved and he had to go back to the kennel. Goose wants to be your snuggle bunny on the sofa. Goose may look a little tough, but he's a total sweetheart. He is a bit of shy guy when he first meets people, but warms up quickly. He's a big goofball, makes some adorable ... (Read More)noises, and is totally loveable. He's neutered, current on vaccinations, crate trained, and house trained.     Hello, I regret to offer you my amazing dog. I would like to find her a nice home for the rest of her life. Why I must give her away: Last month she fought my girlfriend's dog for the third time. She fought her over attention. The first and second time were over a bone and food. Every time they have fought my dog has been stressed about travel/moving. She has also fought my cat, and some other dogs. She needs to go to a home where she is the only animal of the house. We muzzle her when she will potentially encounter other dogs. We do not take her to the dog park. She actually plays well with 5/6 of the dogs that she meets. Her best ... (Read More)friend is my girlfriend's dog, and for 2 1/2 years they have played together and existed harmoniously 99.999% of the time. If you can't take her but want to help spread the word, please copy this link and share it on your facebook. Stats: She is 5 1/2 years old, and her birthday is in April. She's a lab mix, maybe with pit but it's not for sure, the dad was a mystery of the night. Her papers say 'Labrador retriever mix'. She weighs about 55 pounds. She is up to date on shots. Her name is Hester. I have had her since she was a little puppy. She is from Florida. Her personality: She leans towards high strung. She's very affectionate, seriously, she wants to give kisses literally all the time. She's very protective of her turf. She has a super cute bark and kind of howls a little bit sometimes as a bark. She doesn't bark when lonely (like if you needed to leave her at home she wouldn't bark from separation anxiety the way some dogs do) She's a super fast runner, and loves to play with a tennis ball. She loves to swim, especially if you throw a tennis ball into the river for her. She's not aggressive towards other dogs, just very alpha and not afraid if another dog challenges her. She wants to sleep in your bed. Questions before contacting me: Do you have a fenced yard? I think she would do really well with a fenced yard. Do you live in an apartment? If so, are you home very much? I would like her to go to a home where she gets lots of attention. Do you plan to keep and love her until she dies? Would she be the only pet of the house? Do you have small children? She has bitten a drunken guy that grabbed her (that guy was crazy, and it was his own fault) and me when I've been separating dog fights. We don't think she should go to a home with small children. 10 years old should be fine as long as the kids are mature. Do you understand what here strengths are? She's affectionate and protective. Not good for off leash at the dog park. We suggest you muzzle her around other dogs (she's used to it). She would thrive with a loving owner and territory to call her own. Process for adoption: Email me, and please include your phone number. We can talk over the phone, and I will want to know your full name. I will drive her to you and you can meet her, if all goes well I will come over and do a home visit. There will be a $50 rehome fee. She comes with food, flea meds, bedding, a crate and a leash. If anything goes wrong you can call me and I will come get her at once. Please be advised: I am not selling this dog, or meeting you at Petco to give her to you. I will want this process to take 2 or 3 days for you to be sure this is what you want. I absolutely will need to check out the home she's going to. Sincerely, Jan Korvick (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Loving, loyal and smart, Omar is the kind of dog that will be your friend for life. He is a special needs dog, and by that we mean he has some quarks, mainly that he suffers from situational anxiety. We want to be up front about his needs so that he finds a new home that is an excellent fit. While Omar is very loyal, it takes him a while to become comfortable with new people. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old and over the course of 5 years have come to understand his needs very well. He exhibits fear based aggression when nervous around new people or children. When given time and proper introductions, he is able to get to know new ... (Read More)people and once you are in his 'inner circle' he is relaxed and happy. He has never bit anyone but he can be intimidating when he lunges and barks. We have worked with a behaviorist and trainer for the past 3 years and he has made excellent progress. Due to a new addition to our family we can no longer keep him. Our son is 16 months now and we've tried to make it work but in the end we can't trust him fully with our child who is unpredictable and makes Omar nervous. We are heartbroken that we have to say goodbye to Omar as he has been a dear part of our family. We know what a wonderful companion he can be when in the right household. To help with the transition we would like to pay for the first session with the behaviorist and trainer. Omar responds well to training, loves to play ball and go on hikes and short runs. He needs a home without kids and most likely without another dog (we aren't sure about cats). Omar is very sweet with those he trusts and is really smart. In the right setting we know how wonderful he can be! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Oregon
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Oregon Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
