Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00366Finnigan (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adult Men Only
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am looking to re-home my 10 month old puppy, Finnegan, he's a beautiful boxer/black lab mix. Unfortunately I'm in the process of starting my own business and sadly work is occupying far too much of my time to best take care of him. I adopted him from the humane society 4 months ago. He has had all of his shots, vaccinations, is neutered and already house-broken. He is very playful and gets along with the cat I have in the house. About him: Currently 10 months old, about 50 pounds (the vet says he shouldn't get any bigger). As a puppy he still has a lot of energy, so I'm hoping to find a home where his owners will be able to give ... (Read More)him the attention and love he deserves. He's friendly, loves meeting strangers and riding in the car as he usually travels with me everywhere I go. He even comes to work with me and sits calmly by my desk all day. It's worth noting that he has a tendency to be more aggressive in environments where there isn't a male around. For this reason we would suggest a home where there is at least one adult male to keep him in check. We tried to re-home him to a single female and he was too much for her to handle on her own. I can be contacted via cell at (256) 520 6917 or email hartlykins2@yahoo.com. Thank you, Joshua (Less)

Gem is a special and lovable 1 yr old, 44 lbs, Lab/American Straffordshire Terrier blend. She is very sweet, loves giving kisses and enjoys snuggling on the couch. Due to an accident sweet Gem had to have her right hind one leg amputated; however, she's adjusted wonderfully. She just takes a little time getting up. That's all. She is crate trained and goes in her crate when she wants to relax. She sleeps in her doggy bed close to her foster mom. Gem is a smart girl. She goes to the door when she needs to go potty. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What isn't wonderful about lovely Addison Ahmea- Pretty much she is near perfect- especially for such a young girl of 10 and half months old. She is a presumed Retriever Border Collie mi weighing approximately 60 pounds. She is noted as spayed because she will not go to new home before spay which is scheduled for January 25th. She knows her commands like sit, wait to exit door, wait to snack, heel and fetch. She needs a bit more as far as stay! She is still teething sort to speak so loves retrieving sticks and chewing on them. She is potty trained and does well in car. This lovely girl is seeking an active family- preferably with lovely ... (Read More)yard to romp and roll and enjoy the wind on her face. She is microchipped. Why you say is she seeking a new home- being a puppy still- owners in their senior years have been met with some medical issues- and cannot give her the mental and physical stimulation such a breed mix requires. Please tell me about you, your family, other pets, yard, own or rent; your expectations of your new pooch, what pooch can expect from you! Please provide this information and city in which you live with contact phone number. This is not a first come first serve placement. The objective is to find the perfect home for pooch and family. If you do not provide requested information- please do not expect a reply to your inquiry. Please provide your email to which I can respond and phone number for serious inquiries. Be prepared to provide photos of your immediate fenced yard or your intentions if not fenced- and of your family living room area with a selfie. (Less)

Hi! I'm Korben. I'm 1 year old presumed Lab Border Collie mix and weigh 57 lbs. You can still come meet me before then to get to know me! I am a playful, active, goofy boy, but probably won't show you that right away--I'll have to get to know you first. I am friendly with other dogs if they are polite, and a bit nervous at first if they are extra energetic. I am a good watch dog and will alert to protect my home. I'm learning how to trust new people here, and making great strides. I love to go on walks and play! I am looking for a patient person who can teach me about the big wide world! I offer snuggles, kisses, and lots of love in return. ... (Read More) I am at the shelter, but won't be ready for adoption until after my neuter on 1/11. It is always nice if you send an inquiry about a specific adoptable guest via email to tell us about you, your family and other pets, your yard, and most importantly, your expectations of your new family member so we can answer your questions appropriately as best as possible. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away! They will need love, patience, a strong owner who will let them know what is expected of them and what they can expect from their new family. It may take an afternoon or it may take a week or so! But they need homes and families who will bring them back to knowing what family is! Puppies: Please understand they are puppies; not potty trained; not good or bad with kids, dogs, cats. They are pliable puppies ready for you to imprint good manners, social skills and training. You are encouraged to follow up with training after they are finished with shot series and or at the direction of your veterinarian. A happy healthy well socialized puppy is a happy family! You may be asked to make a refundable deposit for spay/neutering. Inquire at the Shelter. General Adoption Fees for Dog: Adult dogs and puppies- $125, Senior dogs 7 and over $50. You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder!     Jackson is hoping to find a home for the New Year! He is a big 6 year old 75 lb Chocolate Lab mix (possibly pit and border collie)! He is friendly, happy, and loves to be the center of attention. This boy is STRONG and will need an owner who can keep up. Jackson knows some manners--sit, stay, lay down, shake, taking treats, etc--but sometimes just needs a little help remembering them, especially if he is around other people or is too excited to pay attention. :) He tends to be a couch potato at times but when he gets excited hes like a whole other dog and just wants to play! He will require dedication, patience and strong leadership- but he ... (Read More)wants to please and be your best friend! Please help me find a home where he can be the center of attention, play, run, go for walks and have a nice yard to chase the squirrels! We have had Jackson since he was 10 weeks old and he has been the best dog anyone could have so we would really like the home he goes to, to be his forever home. He has had some minor behavioral issues like separation anxiety and barking at everything but since we had our son those issues have resurfaced and it became clear that he prefers being an 'only child'. He was very protective of our son until he became mobile and wanted to play with Jackson. He now either walks away from him or growls so we would love him to have a home where there are no other pets or children and gets all the love and play he deserves. He is a lot of fun, loves to go for rides, and is a clean dog, easy to care for, and extremely cuddly and loveable. he has been living with a cat, but he really likes chasing others so cats are probably a no go as well. Please let Jackson into your heart and share in the joy his sweet soul has brought me and my husband for the last 6 years. If you would like more information I will gladly provide a more detailed list of his behaviors, likes, dislikes, and everything you would want to know about him. (Less)

You can make application via the Shelter Website: http://www.jocoshelter.com/#!adoptions/c6mv copy into your url. PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTATIONS BELOW. The most common question is 'Good with Cats?' If we know has lived with cats or farm animals will be stated above in biography. Otherwise- we don't know. If you inquire by email- please tell us about you, your family, your yard, other animals, children, and your expectations of your new pet and what your new pet can expect from you. When you do so, we can better address your inquiry. Shelter number 541 474-5458 for status of availability as some may have been adopted since this post, and about any pending spay/neuter surgery if noted as sometimes spay/neuter appointment may be sooner if a cancellation is available. Dogs noted as a Great American Shelter Dog are noted as such because we are not sure of the breed and can only give out best guess. See more at: www.savethewhiskers.org Alternate Contact Raleigh@savethewhiskers.org or text 541 660 6578 name of dog. Veterans are half price / $62.50 with presentation of government issued VA ID. For Josephine County fee includes first year licensing. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography! Nala is an awesome dog and just needs a patient family or woman who will work with her. She loves her country walks and looks forward to them every day. Housebroken, knows basic commands, a slap happy girl who loves life, cuddles and hugs and will make a loyal companion for the right family. she has bonded really well to my personal chow-shepard mix so she will do well as an only dog or as a companion with a gentle male Nala is shy of strangers but warms up with trust. She starts out with barking and being concerned, but if you ignore the bark and put your hand out she will start licking you, then with some sweet words and a treat, she is ready for play and cuddles. Nala will make an excellent watch dog and will be sure to let you know when strangers are about. Nala does love living in the country and we would love to see her go into a home on land and where her family will take her for walks or runs in nature.     Goose is such a wonderful soul! He has sadly spent most of his life in a kennel which is no fault of his own. He had a home after the first couple years of his life being kenneled but then they moved and he had to go back to the kennel. Goose wants to be your snuggle bunny on the sofa. Goose may look a little tough, but he's a total sweetheart. He is a bit of shy guy when he first meets people, but warms up quickly. He's very athletic and loves running and playing but also likes to chill. He gets along great with larger dogs, preferably females, but may be a bit too much for very small dogs or cats. He's a big goofball, makes some adorable ... (Read More)noises, and is totally loveable. He's neutered, current on vaccinations, crate trained, and house trained. His adoption fee is $300 which covers his neuter, shots, microchip, deworming and health cert as well as transport from the recue in CA to the foster/new home. He is available for pre-adoption with the next delivery date in the next week or two. Please email us today for an application. Thank you! (Less)

Hello, I regret to offer you my amazing dog. I would like to find her a nice home for the rest of her life. Why I must give her away: Last month she fought my girlfriend's dog for the third time. She fought her over attention. The first and second time were over a bone and food. Every time they have fought my dog has been stressed about travel/moving. She has also fought my cat, and some other dogs. She needs to go to a home where she is the only animal of the house. We muzzle her when she will potentially encounter other dogs. We do not take her to the dog park. She actually plays well with 5/6 of the dogs that she meets. Her best ... (Read More)friend is my girlfriend's dog, and for 2 1/2 years they have played together and existed harmoniously 99.999% of the time. If you can't take her but want to help spread the word, please copy this link and share it on your facebook. Stats: She is 5 1/2 years old, and her birthday is in April. She's a lab mix, maybe with pit but it's not for sure, the dad was a mystery of the night. Her papers say 'Labrador retriever mix'. She weighs about 55 pounds. She is up to date on shots. Her name is Hester. I have had her since she was a little puppy. She is from Florida. Her personality: She leans towards high strung. She's very affectionate, seriously, she wants to give kisses literally all the time. She's very protective of her turf. She has a super cute bark and kind of howls a little bit sometimes as a bark. She doesn't bark when lonely (like if you needed to leave her at home she wouldn't bark from separation anxiety the way some dogs do) She's a super fast runner, and loves to play with a tennis ball. She loves to swim, especially if you throw a tennis ball into the river for her. She's not aggressive towards other dogs, just very alpha and not afraid if another dog challenges her. She wants to sleep in your bed. Questions before contacting me: Do you have a fenced yard? I think she would do really well with a fenced yard. Do you live in an apartment? If so, are you home very much? I would like her to go to a home where she gets lots of attention. Do you plan to keep and love her until she dies? Would she be the only pet of the house? Do you have small children? She has bitten a drunken guy that grabbed her (that guy was crazy, and it was his own fault) and me when I've been separating dog fights. We don't think she should go to a home with small children. 10 years old should be fine as long as the kids are mature. Do you understand what here strengths are? She's affectionate and protective. Not good for off leash at the dog park. We suggest you muzzle her around other dogs (she's used to it). She would thrive with a loving owner and territory to call her own. Process for adoption: Email me, and please include your phone number. We can talk over the phone, and I will want to know your full name. I will drive her to you and you can meet her, if all goes well I will come over and do a home visit. There will be a $50 rehome fee. She comes with food, flea meds, bedding, a crate and a leash. If anything goes wrong you can call me and I will come get her at once. Please be advised: I am not selling this dog, or meeting you at Petco to give her to you. I will want this process to take 2 or 3 days for you to be sure this is what you want. I absolutely will need to check out the home she's going to. Sincerely, Jan Korvick (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-01-00347Omar (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Loving, loyal and smart, Omar is the kind of dog that will be your friend for life. He is a special needs dog, and by that we mean he has some quarks, mainly that he suffers from situational anxiety. We want to be up front about his needs so that he finds a new home that is an excellent fit. While Omar is very loyal, it takes him a while to become comfortable with new people. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old and over the course of 5 years have come to understand his needs very well. He exhibits fear based aggression when nervous around new people or children. When given time and proper introductions, he is able to get to know new ... (Read More)people and once you are in his 'inner circle' he is relaxed and happy. He has never bit anyone but he can be intimidating when he lunges and barks. We have worked with a behaviorist and trainer for the past 3 years and he has made excellent progress. Due to a new addition to our family we can no longer keep him. Our son is 16 months now and we've tried to make it work but in the end we can't trust him fully with our child who is unpredictable and makes Omar nervous. We are heartbroken that we have to say goodbye to Omar as he has been a dear part of our family. We know what a wonderful companion he can be when in the right household. To help with the transition we would like to pay for the first session with the behaviorist and trainer. Omar responds well to training, loves to play ball and go on hikes and short runs. He needs a home without kids and most likely without another dog (we aren't sure about cats). Omar is very sweet with those he trusts and is really smart. In the right setting we know how wonderful he can be! (Less)

This is Hester, she is a sweet 5 year old pup who just wants love. She is very dominant and aggresive towards other animals when she is not the number one attention. She has not been around any children as we don't have any but I wouldn't recommend. We have two other pets and it's not fair for Hester or the other two to keep her in our family. It pains us to give her away as she is so sweet and loyal to her humans but we know she needs a more suitable home. Please give us a call if she could give you all her love. Thank you!

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Oregon
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Oregon Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
