Rescue Me ID: 14-09-01-00599Tyler (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Can you imagine being severely wounded and having nowhere to go and nobody to help you? That was what Tyler had to go through as he hid under a tree deep in the brush in the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas, to try to protect himself from further harm. It was fate that the Corridor Rescue volunteers spotted him that day while they were out feeding all of the strays. They immediately knew that they were rescuing him from death, but he was scared of their intentions and growled at them as a warning to stay away. He very quickly realized that they were his heroes. They gave him rotisserie chicken to gain his trust and water to hydrate ... (Read More)his weak and crashing body. His injuries were so extensive, but nobody knows what happened to this wonderful boy. It could have been that he was mauled by a much larger animal, hit by a car and left to die or injuries at the hands of heartless people. We will never know, but that is in the past and we are all so proud of our survivor for his journey since that day. Tyler is about 2 years old and currently 52 pounds. When he was found, he was just 41 pounds, so he has gained some much needed weight. Tyler has learned so much in the last several months since his rescue. His foster family adores him and he very much enjoys living life as a pet rather than surviving on his own. He currently lives with 2 cats, an 11 year old human sister and many other dogs that range in age from 8 weeks to 5 years and from 2 pounds to 70 pounds. He interacts beautifully with all of the 2 and 4-legged members of his foster family. Like all dogs, a proper introduction is necessary for Tyler so he feels comfortable when visiting new furry friends. Tyler had extensive surgical repairs and treatments to go through after his rescue. His wounds to his rear leg were too great for it to be saved. He has adjusted very well to living life as a tripod. He runs like a gazelle in his back yard, but he wouldn't make a good running partner since his runs are in short bursts. He walks very nicely on a leash and enjoys his evening strolls around the neighborhood. He doesn't like swimming although he has a pool. Other than his severe leg injury, Tyler had very deep wounds on his back that have left permanent scars and he was also heartworm positive. He has recently finished treatment for the heartworms. Tyler has molded well into his foster family because they have provided him with a loving environment, but also with a routine. He requires exercise, discipline and affection and has thrived in a home setting with these simple things. When he wakes up in the morning, he runs to greet his dog buddies first, then his humans, then he eats and then wants to take a nap in his foster mom's lap. He is a dog that seeks approval from his humans and he is a people pleaser 100% of the time. He loves belly rubs, chasing the ball (but rarely returns with it); his favorite toys are the plush, squeaky ones and he is perfectly content for at least 30 minutes alone after you give him one. He clearly prefers to be with his dog friends and people though. He is a lover, not a loner! A couple of his hobbies include chasing bugs, playing in his yard and often dancing in circles to impress. While he's inside, he seeks your attention throughout the day. His given nickname is 'Bear' because he will paw at you for some attention and love. He is very gentle when he takes treats out of hands and he doesn't have any food, treat or toy aggression at all. He likes to sleep soundly on a bed at night with the other members of his pack. If there are children in the family, over 6 years old would probably work out best for him as he is still learning how to gently paw for attention. He most definitely wants a family that is home more than they are away because he wants nothing more than to spend time with you. He is an all around big goof, easy-going, fun-loving family dog and despite all of the trauma in his life, he has maintained the most appreciative and loving disposition. Are you the lucky first owner of this gentle giant with a heart of gold? Tyler currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers who live here to help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other states via the United Airlines PetSafe program. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $150. The transport cost is $225, which includes the airline flight, a new pet travel kennel that you can keep upon arrival and the required health documents from the veterinarian. The grand total for adopting this pet including adoption fee and airline/transportation fee is $375. If you would like to adopt Tyler, please fill out an adoption application at www.corridorrescue.org under the adoption tab. Please contact us at corridorrescueadopt@gmail.com with any questions. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-30-00421Willis (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Many dogs will come up to a new person to sniff them as a greeting...not Willis!! This guy will roll over and lay in your lap to get to know you better. He is the definition of affectionate and happy. He has never met a stranger and everyone that meets him says he's just the best. Willis is about 1.5 years old, 45 pounds and has great medium level energy. Willis was rescued while surviving the streets of the Corridor of Cruelty with his two brothers Nemo and Arnold. They were fortunately all rescued together and are now living in a boarding/training facility to help prepare them for their new families. Willis is the clown of the group ... (Read More)and his brothers are both very reserved. He's so very loving and social that it is almost unbelievable that he spent even a day in that awful place. It certainly didn't affect his outlook on life one bit. Sadly without monthly preventatives, he was heartworm positive upon rescue. He has been treated and will be given a clean bill of health this month. WooHoo!! He enjoys spending every moment with his new human friends. It doesn't matter what activity you are involved in, he will be by your side running, fetching, swimming, sleeping or even sharing some of your unwanted vegetables. We could have named him Shadow and it would have been quite fitting. This young man really does have it all and we are so excited to announce that he is available for adoption because he is going to bring so much joy to a family. Willis is great with other dogs, big or small, and would love to have at least one to play with in his new family, but more would be great. He is a dream with kids and adults. One cannot be perfect in every single category, so he only tolerates cats, but would probably be better without one as his immediate sibling. This guy is the life of the party and has proven to be just a well- rounded, fun, silly and amazing friend. He would be a great addition to any family dynamic, but would be best in an active family with kids that will allow him to tag along for all of their family events. Willis is currently crate-trained, leash-trained, housebroken and is currently working on learning basic commands such as sit, stay and settle. You might want to hurry because this guy WON'T last long with us. Willis currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers who live here that help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions.     Love is not an open all you can eat buffet! Moderation and exercise! Hooch is a 5 year old neutered male Doberman/lab cross. Hooch is in need of a bit of a diet and lots of walks but will return your hard work with lots of love. Hooch needs supervision around small creatures but knows what the word 'no' means. If you say 'no- don't chase the kitty' he gets it! But would not hurt the kitty! Rescue Me ID: 14-08-27-00696Arnold (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Arnold! This striking pup is just now learning all the wonderful things that come with living indoors and leaving behind life on the streets! Arnold was found wandering the roads of the Corridor with his brothers, Willis and Nemo, when our volunteers rescued this handsome trio. He has such a unique coat and people comment on this constantly. Arnold is about 1.5 years old, 40 pounds and has a medium energy level. He is currently boarding with our friends out at K&M Canines where he is learning how to socialize with people, other dogs, kitties and horses! It is clear that he was not loved upon and socialized properly to this world ... (Read More)because he is quite shy. We know that he warms up to people, but it just takes him a little while to trust and understand that people can be good. He has already made great progress. So far, Arnold has learned that he LOVES tasty treats and he will do just about anything for one. He loves being in the company of other dogs and will need to have a doggy sibling in his new family because he is more of a follower and enjoys a confident companion. His new buddy will be able to help him adjust to his new environment once he is part of a new family. Arnold LOVES to play and he will leap across the yard after a toy. He really enjoys playing with the bouncy balls and he will dance around with one after he has caught it. He is a friendly boy despite his personality being hesitant to meeting new people. We always introduce him to the newbies slowly along with his favorite treats and that does the trick every time. Arnold is already crate-trained and housebroken, but he is still learning the ropes of being an indoor dog, so we are working on training him to know which items are toys and which are not. He is still learning his sit, stay, settle commands but with the help of a patient new owner and treats for motivation, it won't be long before Arnold is the perfect gentleman. This fella is already neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and just recently finished up treatment for heartworms. Other than being a shy guy, he is more than ready to get into his home, get comfortable and bring on the love. Arnold currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers who live here that help coordinate successful out-of-area adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other areas via the United Airlines PetSafe program. Chuck is a very inquisitive puppy and quite intelligent. He notices everything! Chuck has loads of puppy energy and is constantly entertaining us with his puppy shenanigans. He is very well-behaved on leash and will go anywhere at anytime. He is absolutely a perfect companion for people and dogs; however this is not the case for the feline friends. He is a bit too much for cats and should be adopted into a cat-free family. He loves to meet and play with all of the new dogs and people at ...
