Rosie, a rescued Catahoula hound mix is currently in a foster home in Portland, Oregon and she is ready for new new furever home! Rosie's interests include: running a lot, running some more, walking a lot, playing with other dogs, walking more, etc! She is a high energy young spayed female mixed breed who we rescued and we were hoping that she'd be a good fit for her foster home but it turns out that she is going to need to live with someone who has MORE time to devote to her energy level and additional training. She definitely has to live in a home with a large fenced yard or on a lot of acreage. She is VERY smart, very loyal and a lot of ... (Read More)fun. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-06-00518Nemo (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Everyone loves the movie 'Finding Nemo' right? Well, that is what this awesome little guy was named...and everyone will love him too. This handsome and silly boy is looking for his family to make his life complete! Nemo was found wandering and just trying to survive the ugly streets of the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas with his two brothers, Willis and Arnold. They were rescued recently and are now living a life that they could not have imagined before. Regular meals, love and affection, daily play time in the yard and a comfy bed are all things that were new and exciting for these boys. They also have a ton of friends now and ... (Read More)have learned how to socialize with other dogs, people and cats. Nemo is about 2 years old, 45 pounds and has a medium energy level. Nemo loves to go for long walks and play indoors after a nice jog. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is usually the leader of the pack of clowns. He loves people, but can be a bit shy for a moment when meeting new people. He has a moderate energy level, meaning he knows how to run and play, but also enjoys coming inside to just hang out with his people. Nemo is already crate-trained, knows some basic commands such as sit and settle, and is housebroken. Nemo was sadly heartworm positive when he was rescued, but that is a very common problem with the strays in Houston. He has been treated and completed it like the champ that he is. This Nemo is not a clownfish, but we can guarantee that he's fun and silly like a clown. If you are looking for a great dog that will brighten your days, Nemo is a perfect match. Nemo currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers that live here who help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other states via the United Airlines PetSafe program. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $150. The transport cost is $225, which includes the airline flight, a new pet travel kennel that you can keep upon arrival and the required health documents from the veterinarian. The grand total for adopting this pet including adoption and transportation fee is $375. To adopt Nemo, please submit an adoption application online at www.corridorrescue.org under the adoption tab. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-06-00038Lucy (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy is a very sweet 3 year old spayed female. We have had her since 14 weeks of age, and she has been very good with all humans (including our 1 year old son.) She loves our other dog and our friends' dogs, but tends to be quite aggressive when meeting new dogs (primarily small dogs). She is obviously high energy given her breed, and we just don't have the time she deserves. She is an EXCELLENT fetch player, and she has never even come close to wandering away when off leash. We routinely have her off leash in the woods and at the beach without a second thought (other than keeping track of other dogs.) She is very intelligent and knows ... (Read More)& follows lots of commands, including 'come' and 'heel.' Lucy would likely be best in a home without other pets, and she would love to have a giant back yard or neighboring field for daily fetch. She is an inside dog, crate-trained, and would be upset if anyone tried to make her live outside without a nearby human. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-01-00599Tyler (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Can you imagine being severely wounded and having nowhere to go and nobody to help you? That was what Tyler had to go through as he hid under a tree deep in the brush in the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas, to try to protect himself from further harm. It was fate that the Corridor Rescue volunteers spotted him that day while they were out feeding all of the strays. They immediately knew that they were rescuing him from death, but he was scared of their intentions and growled at them as a warning to stay away. He very quickly realized that they were his heroes. They gave him rotisserie chicken to gain his trust and water to hydrate ... (Read More)his weak and crashing body. His injuries were so extensive, but nobody knows what happened to this wonderful boy. It could have been that he was mauled by a much larger animal, hit by a car and left to die or injuries at the hands of heartless people. We will never know, but that is in the past and we are all so proud of our survivor for his journey since that day. Tyler is about 2 years old and currently 52 pounds. When he was found, he was just 41 pounds, so he has gained some much needed weight. Tyler has learned so much in the last several months since his rescue. His foster family adores him and he very much enjoys living life as a pet rather than surviving on his own. He currently lives with 2 cats, an 11 year old human sister and many other dogs that range in age from 8 weeks to 5 years and from 2 pounds to 70 pounds. He interacts beautifully with all of the 2 and 4-legged members of his foster family. Like all dogs, a proper introduction is necessary for Tyler so he feels comfortable when visiting new furry friends. Tyler had extensive surgical repairs and treatments to go through after his rescue. His wounds to his rear leg were too great for it to be saved. He has adjusted very well to living life as a tripod. He runs like a gazelle in his back yard, but he wouldn't make a good running partner since his runs are in short bursts. He walks very nicely on a leash and enjoys his evening strolls around the neighborhood. He doesn't like swimming although he has a pool. Other than his severe leg injury, Tyler had very deep wounds on his back that have left permanent scars and he was also heartworm positive. He has recently finished treatment for the heartworms. Tyler has molded well into his foster family because they have provided him with a loving environment, but also with a routine. He requires exercise, discipline and affection and has thrived in a home setting with these simple things. When he wakes up in the morning, he runs to greet his dog buddies first, then his humans, then he eats and then wants to take a nap in his foster mom's lap. He is a dog that seeks approval from his humans and he is a people pleaser 100% of the time. He loves belly rubs, chasing the ball (but rarely returns with it); his favorite toys are the plush, squeaky ones and he is perfectly content for at least 30 minutes alone after you give him one. He clearly prefers to be with his dog friends and people though. He is a lover, not a loner! A couple of his hobbies include chasing bugs, playing in his yard and often dancing in circles to impress. While he's inside, he seeks your attention throughout the day. His given nickname is 'Bear' because he will paw at you for some attention and love. He is very gentle when he takes treats out of hands and he doesn't have any food, treat or toy aggression at all. He likes to sleep soundly on a bed at night with the other members of his pack. If there are children in the family, over 6 years old would probably work out best for him as he is still learning how to gently paw for attention. He most definitely wants a family that is home more than they are away because he wants nothing more than to spend time with you. He is an all around big goof, easy-going, fun-loving family dog and despite all of the trauma in his life, he has maintained the most appreciative and loving disposition. Are you the lucky first owner of this gentle giant with a heart of gold? Tyler currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Portland because we have amazing volunteers who live here to help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other states via the United Airlines PetSafe program. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $150. Chuck is a very inquisitive puppy and quite intelligent. He notices everything! Chuck has loads of puppy energy and is constantly entertaining us with his puppy shenanigans. He is very well-behaved on leash and will go anywhere at anytime. He is absolutely a perfect companion for people and dogs; however this is not the case for the feline friends.     My name is Stella. When I came into rescue, I was a Mama without her puppies. I was very sad and scared. I went into a foster home and was making progress but when I started stealing the little humans toys and hiding them in my crate, they had to give me be back. Now I live in a very comfortable kennel and I'm happy. But I'm what you would describe as Semi-Feral. I run away when anyone tries to pet me. I am looking for a home that wants a yard or farm dog to hang out. I won't need much, just someone who will talk to me, to feed me, and to let me inside at night. I'm housebroken so you don't have to worry about accidents. In return I will be ...     We are seeking a family for our beautiful 6 year old male black lab. Must be a home with no other dogs, and lots of room to run. Would be a great addition for the active family that is into recreational activities such as camping, hiking, etc. He knows basic commands, is micro-chipped, neutered, shots up to date, potty-trained, current with Heartgard and Frontline, and healthy. Gus is not trained for hunting and is frightened by gunshots, thunder, etc. We have taken him to All Creatures Animal Hospital since he was 6 weeks old, and they have his complete health history. He loves swimming at the lake, chasing tennis balls, going for rides ... (Read More)and is good walking on a leash. When off leash, he stays with you and does not wonder off, just barks at you to 'keep throwing the ball'. He is a great loveable dog, with the famous black lab personality, BUT he CANNOT be around other dogs. If you have an active lifestyle, don't own a dog at this time and don't plan on having more than one dog, he would be a 'good fit'. (Less)

Koda doesn't care for other dogs and likes to give chase to other animals. He has been around cats, and while he has never hurt them, I wouldn't trust him alone. He also doesn't seem to like young children, but does well with teenagers and adults. Koda needs a home with an adult who has the time and resources to work with him. He knows some commands, but needs to work on consistency. A fenced back yard is a must, and he needs to be kept on a leash whenever he goes somewhere. Koda loves the ...     Lab Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Oregon Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs became popular in nineteenth century England.
