Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00407Choco (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Choco has been with me for 6 years and he is a very healthy, happy, loving dog. Unfortunately, I just moved to a ranch and he is not good with chickens, or other small animals (besides dogs). He loves all people and all dogs. He is NOT cat safe. I will put him down, if he is not adopted soon. This will break my heart, but my cats are no longer safe. Please help. He is big (105#) and kind of goofey, but very loyal and likes the water. He is not high energy and does not chew things, (except his toys). He is very affectionate and one of the best Frisbee catchers I have ever seen!

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00233Rosie - Honey's Pup (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Date into Rescue: 3/22/16 Reason for being in rescue: Born in rescue Foster location: Kathy in Fletcher, NC Special Needs? no Weight at 6 weeks: 5.0 lbs Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Preferred What kind of home would be best for me? Please read puppy requirements! What is my personality like? Rosie just wants to play. She likes a good snuggle, but she is one busy pup! How I act when I first meet new people: I'm a puppy, I love everyone! House trained? I'm a puppy - I'm working on it! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from ... (Read More)being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: DOB 04/08/2016 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00217Bert - Honey's Pup (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Date into Rescue: 3/22/16 Reason for being in rescue: Born in rescue Foster location: Kathy in Fletcher, NC Special Needs? no Weight at 6 weeks: 7.0 lbs Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Preferred What kind of home would be best for me? Please read puppy requirements! What is my personality like? Bert is a big boy with a fun loving attitude. He loves to snatch the ball and play keep-away! How I act when I first meet new people: I'm a puppy, I love everyone! House trained? I'm a puppy - I'm working on it! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't ... (Read More)keep them from being trained. You can also read our adoption tips page for hints and helps on adopting a rescued dog. http://www.carolinapoodlerescue.org/AdoptionTips.shtml or for general information on Carolina Poodle Rescue, please visit our FAQs - http://www.carolinapoodlerescue.org/FAQGeneral.shtml (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Date into Rescue: 04/22/2016 Reason for being in rescue: owner release to a SC shelter/owner does not want Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes has 3 legs Weight: 33 lbs Height: about 20' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Hero is sweetly affectionate and would make a great family dog. His lack of a leg does not slow him down one bit in the snuggly department. Hero was turned in to a SC shelter by his owners who said he was born without one foot. Every vet who has seen Hero says there is no way . There was bone sticking out of the stump ... (Read More)indicating possibly a trauma such as getting his foot stuck in a trap. Hero also had excellent muscle tone in the stump, which means at one time, he used that leg as well as the good one. Our vet had to amputate the leg up to the hip bone. It's better for Hero and he's now recovering very nicely. What is my personality like? Happy, easy to get along with , willing to please. How I act when I first meet new people: He's looking for love. Not overly rambunctious, Hero waits for you to invite him in and then he leans against you. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birthday 11/22/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

One-year-old, former lost dog, Koal, is brimming with boyish charm and enthusiasm. Shy at first, this raven black, Retriever beauty becomes overwhelmed by his own puppy glee, throwing timidity to the wind, and expressing his zest for life. However, when he has his belly rubbed he stays as still and relaxed as a meditating zen master. Visit this super and sweet kid of a dog and he'll teach you how to trade in sweating the small stuff for embracing the fun of life. Visit Koal at our Adoption Center open Monday through ... Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Hi, there! My name is SNICKERS. I'm a chocolate lab/pit bull mix, between 2 and 3 years old. I was at an animal control facility where I was on the euthanasia list, but a nice woman from Save the Strays came and got me. I'm a little bit of a goofball. I dance and wiggle every time I see my foster mom! In fact, I do that for everybody, because I'm just glad to be out of that shelter. Now I need a real family - someone who will spend time walking and playing with me and include me in their family activities. I'm pretty energetic, so it would be great if my adopters were active, too. I'm told I'm heartworm positive, but I don't have any ... (Read More)clinical signs, so I'm leading a normally active life while getting the 'slow kill' treatment. I hope someone will adopt me and give me a fur-ever home as soon as I'm spayed, which is scheduled for May 17. My adoption fee is just $150. Won't you email info@savethestrays.org and apply to adopt me today? (Less)

He needs a family with a fenced back yard or someone willing to provide him time and exercise him. He learns very fast and is pretty smart. He knows basic commands but he is a puppy and will sometimes ignore commands. He is great with my 2 year old grandson and is gentle when playing with him. He has just gotten too big and I have a bad knee that makes it difficult to walk him and provide the exercise he needs.
