Rescue Me ID: 18-04-18-00153Duncan (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

My name is Duncan! I'm a 1 1/2 year old male Border Collie/Lab mix looking for a furever home. I'm a smart, casual boy who loves spending time with my humans. I make friends easily with people and dogs, since I'm young and energetic I tend to jump on people when I'm excited so small kids should be extra careful.... Duncan has shown interest in cats with no cause for worries so far. Sweet Duncan has been diagnosed with dysplasia in a hip and elbow, so he's not able to continue service dog training. He will limp on the front leg if allowed too much play and no outward symptoms at the hip. Exercise should be low-stress, he'll be content with a ... (Read More)fenced yard to play in and would love a family who will use mental enrichment games or teach low impact tricks. Duncan is house trained, knows some basic commands and he loves to learn! Duncan is neutered, chipped and vaccinated. If you think your home is right for Duncan, please call 801-792-1737 or email adopt@canineswithacause.org (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there - I have a unique situation and I'm hoping you can help me out. I lost my husband about 2 years ago to an unexpected accident. He had 2 children that we shared custody with their mother and as a family unit, we had two dogs. When my late husband passed away, the children went with their mother and the dogs went with me. Since that time, I've made a lot of progress in re-building my life (which hasn't been easy). I've been living with roommates who have helped me take care of the dogs during this time, but I'm ready to start a new chapter and venture out on my own. The problem is, I have a successful (yet busy) career and I'm afraid ... (Read More)I won't be able to give them the care and attention they need or deserve. I work long hours, and while they are kennel trained, I don't want to see them cooped up all night and most of the day while I'm working. If this were a normal situation, I would just try to place them for adoption and find them a sustainable home. However, the problem is that the children are attached to the dogs and I'm trying to find a way for them to still be able to visit their beloved pets occasionally. Their family already has pets so they're unable to adopt the dogs themselves, but would still enjoy the opportunity (if it's possible) to see the dogs a couple of times a year. I know this is a strange request, but I feel the need to put it out there to see if anyone can assist in finding a home for our family pups - a home that might be willing to let my kiddos visit from time to time. They are struggling to cope with the loss of their dad, and I wish I were in a situation that was more compatible with raising and caring for the dogs myself. It was easier when we were all living together as a family because we all took care of them and played with them together. But now it's just me, and I've been forced to increase my work load to be able to afford all of our bills on a single income (where there were two of us before). Here's a little more about my 2 woofs: The white one (male/'Koda') is a pure-bred miniature American Eskimo. He came from a breeder, I'm sure I have his papers somewhere. The brown one (female/ her name is 'Girl') is from a litter of Koda's puppies. The mother is a black lab/blue heeler mix. Koda was born on 10-11-12 and girl on 3-5-14. They have been raised in a loving home with lots of attention. They have always been our travel companions and went everywhere with us (camping, fishing, boating, you name it). They love car rides because they know they will soon be enjoying the outdoors - the words 'wanna go for a ride?' literally make them jump for joy, they get so excited. They have spent a lot of time around kids and other dogs, and are trained and well-behaved. They are a little hyperactive right now because they spend the majority of their time in a kennel, but if able to roam and be left out, they are generally very calm. Since they have been raised together, we would prefer they stay together but if that's not possible we understand. Hopefully you can help, or maybe you know of someone that might be a good fit for our situation. Please feel free to email me at crystal.coburn@ymail.com if you have any questions or to discuss further. Thanks so much for your time. (Less)

Look at this face! Pez is still available, he had a trial with a wonderful family but the kids had bad allergies. Pez the yellow lab, is looking for a casual home where he can just chill, play a little fetch and make you smile! This cheerful boy was previously trained for a veteran with PTSD who was unable to keep him due to health reasons. Pez is about 5 yrs old, well behaved and sweet as a sweetest sugar pea! He loves everyone and everything, gets along with other dogs we're unsure about cats. He would do best in a family with kids and a yard, he's tall and a little lurpy so kids should be doggy respectful. He has good house manners, ... (Read More)listens well and is good on the leash. He's neutered and vaccinated too! Pez is experiencing some joint issues, our vet has recommended a continued supplement but did not diagnose displaysia. Pez should not be considered a service/working dog however he will enjoy walks or short hikes and a comfy doggy bed! adopt@canineswithacause.org or 801-792-1737 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-02-01-00096Precious (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Precious is a female mixed breed dog. She is spayed already. I rescued her from a cardboard box that was thrown out of a car window. She is the sweetest and most well behaved dog that I've ever had. She is shy with strangers but once she knows you're not going to hurt her, she becomes the most lovable dog. She loves kids and babies and has endless patience with them. She loves to run outside but she's great if she has to be inside too. She's crate trained and potty trained. I am broken-hearted because I can't keep her. It's a very long story, but me and my 3 dogs have been living in my car for several weeks now and it's not fair to them to ... (Read More)be stuck in a little car 24/7. Precious gets along with all dogs and she runs and hides if she gets scared. But she's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-26-00400Pippin (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We have had our 16 month-old dog, Pippin, since he was 8 weeks old. He is a ~50lb, neutered, house-trained, energetic Lab/Springer Spaniel mix, and is very affectionate and eager to please. He knows basic commands and several tricks, and is very trainable. However, he has a history of unpredictable behavior around other dogs (except our own, older Lab/Boxer mix) and young children. Despite our efforts to correct this behavior, he actually bit our 4yo niece on Christmas Day. He would do well in a home with older or no children, with someone willing to continue training his high energy personality.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Utah
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Utah if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs.
