Rescue Me ID: 17-03-23-00145Buddy (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am Buddy. I love people, great with kids, and does very well with cats. Very affectionate. I am a great hiking/running companion, I don't run off. I am 7-year-old. housetrained and very smart, sweet and obedient (he knows commands and never has accidents inside). Buddy needs to be an only dog for now. He doesn't get along with other dogs in his own home. He won't attack random dogs out on walks and when other dogs pass by he does just fine. We believe with a little work he could overcome this behavior. Whoever gets Buddy will be the luckiest person ever!!!

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy was born in 2009. She is a Dalmatian/Black Lab mix. I adopted her from the Cache Humane Society when she was 8 months old. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is very healthy as I exercise her a lot. She has been my trail running/snow shoeing partner. She has a lot of stamina and energy. She would make a great on-leash running partner for someone. She has in the last year developed a bad habit of chasing deer which could get her or me or both in trouble where we live. As a result she has been on a leash and is well behaved on a leash. The issue that really makes the need for a new home is that she can climb my hog panel ... (Read More)fence and escape our back yard where she lives and proceed to find deer to chase. She is very friendly and good tempered. She is good with kids, other dogs, and cats. She seems to have been born to an indoor life initially but I have kept her outside with a heated (when below zero) doghouse. Please call or text me at 435-757-0940 if you want to inquire about adopting Lucy. (Less)

Animal ID: 16-08-04-00209Mak (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mak is a very good dog who has been loved and taken care of, for the most part. He belongs to my 18 year old son who seldom takes him for walks. He loves the dog, but the dog is left home alone all day, by himself, and he has nothing to look forward to. He recently lost his two sheltie brothers because we are in a financial crisis and will be moving to a place within 10 days, where we cannot have animals. Ideally, my son would like to visit with Mak, but the main concern is that the dog goes to a home where he can run, play in the water, be around other animals, and be loved. Mak is a very good boy. He is very loving and kind, he's full ... (Read More)of energy, he's been taken to the vet and has a clean bill of health. I would love for him to go to a home that can give him a real 'dogs life'. If visiting, or photos and updates is an option, that would be greatly appreciated. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. He has never experienced any type of abuse, whatsoever. He has zero issues, and if we could keep him, we would. He's great with other animals, and people. However, I've noticed that he does bark at small children, but I think this might be because they are eye level with him, and he's not used to small children. He's a wonderful companion, and very eager to please. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-28-00767Doc (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Doc is a one-and-a-half year old Labrador-Border Collie mix (he may possibly have Pointer in him as well) who looks forward to going outside and being active. Doc was going to be owner-surrendered to us, but the family found it more convenient to take him to the local shelter. So we pulled him and brought him to the Menagerie so he could have a better chance at finding his new forever home. Doc's owners gave him up because he is a very high-energy, active dog. They kept him outside most of the time and when he was inside, he was in a crate. So like most dogs, when he was free in the house he would be overly excited. The family used to give ... (Read More)him sedatives to keep him calm as well. So we want to find him a forever family who will give him the love, attention, and active lifestyle he really desires. A family who is willing to work with him on getting his energy out each day, whether that be going for a walk or run, throwing a ball in the park, or wrestling around in the back yard. He would make a great running partner because he absolutely loves to run. Doc is a very smart dog and hes is eager to learn and would do well with an owner who enjoys working with and training dogs. He gets along very well with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats. He has not acted negatively around the birds at the Menagerie either. Doc has not been around small children, but does great with bigger kids. A family with young children may not be the best fit for his active personality though. He is also house and crate trained and is working on leash training. He is doing very well with his basic commands too. If you're looking for an active, happy, and playful companion to enjoy the outdoors with, Doc would be a great fit for your family. He would love to find his new forever home today. (Less)

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Isis is such a sweet loving dog. She has had a rough go at life and has traded owners hands quite a bit. It makes me really sad to have her change hands again but with how much I work in do not have the opportunity to love her and help her become the animal I know she can be. She knows most commands like sit, lay down, paw, other paw and roll over. But she is also stubborn and needsee a stern hand to make her listen. I feel she would do best in a only pet home or with someone who can make sure she won't teach the other dogs her bad behaviors.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in Utah
Lab Dogs can make good pets in Utah if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost Utah Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs.
