Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Nala and I am looking for a home of my own. You see, I once had a family and home to call my own, until a thing called foreclosure happened, and my family couldn't take me with them. So here I am. I am currently safe in the rescue, which is nice and comfortable, but I sure would prefer a home and a family to call my own. Valhalla Rescue is going to help me find my forever home. Don't let my age fool you. I LOVE to run around and play Frisbee. If you are active and you can keep up with me, we just might be a great match. I would love someone to run with and tire me out. I must admit I like running the show. I am a little bit ... (Read More)bossy, but I really love to please humans so if you are willing to help socialize me and help me understand I don't always need to be the Alpha, you might be the person for me. I tend to be pushy and selective with other dogs, and I do not like pitbulls for some reason. I am not good with cats either, I just want to chase and bite them. As far as those small humans go, I would be best with kids age 10 and older, only because I tend to jump up when I'm excited and might knock them over. I am housetrained, and learning that being in a crate sometimes is not so bad. I am spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $150. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org/ourdogs/adoptable and fill out an adoption application. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs that require longer stays in the shelter, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes.     Hi! My name is Mohawk and I am a handsome purebred Labrador Retriever looking for a place to call home. Could that home be with you? My brother and I were surrendered to Valhalla Rescue due to our ongoing medical issue, which is known as megaesophagus. This is a condition in which the muscles of the esophagus are not able to propel food into the stomach. This causes food to sit in the esophagus, unable to continue into the stomach to be digested. While there is currently no cure for megaesophagus, most dogs with this issue are able to live full, active, healthy and happy lives, they just need some extra help from their owners. I am getting ... (Read More)used to eating my meals in my special chair, and have no problem hanging out in it until my food has settled. I will be neutered before I go to my forever home, I am micro-chipped, and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $300. My adoption fee covers the cost for me to bring my Bailey Chair to my forever home. This chair keeps me propped upright and I sit in it to eat all my meals. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs who require longer stays in the shelter, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes. If you want to meet me, visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org - and fill out an adoption application. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed

Jasmine (right) is an 8yo black lab we adopted along with her sister, Bella (left), when they were 1yo in 2009. This ad is for both dogs because we'd like to see them stay together. Soon we are moving into another home that unfortunately lacks the space for them. They're healthy outdoor country dogs that also make a good alarm system for coyotes and passer-bys. They each have a block-shaped snout and bits of white of fur in places. Jasmine is well-behaved and a bit of a chicken that just wants to play. She's been around other dogs and clearly prefers to avoid conflict. I would still advise against letting her near cats. We're hoping someone ...     SPOT is an older lab mix that still thinks he is a puppy. Maybe that's because he missed most of his puppy-hood: This older fellow lived his entire life as a junk yard dog, where we are guessing he failed miserably at his job as he is all sweetness and love. He lost his job as guard dog and was heading for the local pound. A fellow his age would likely have been passed over for puppies and younger dogs so we took him in and he is now waiting to find his perfect retirement home. That would be a home where he can curl up on a soft and warm bed, get lots of gentle pets from his people and enjoy many years of a quiet and loving life. He is shy ...     Gwen Gwen is a 5 year old black female Springer Spaniel/Lab mix. Gwen and her mom were dumped in a middle of a highway median in San Antonio last September. Her mom was adopted right away. Gwen has been patiently waiting for someone to adopt her. Gwen is a very sweet, always happy companion dog. She prefers to be wherever you are at. She is house broken and likes car rides. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

This is Cooper; a pit/lab mix, almost two years old and one of the most sweetest loyal dogs I've ever known. We adopted him a little over half a year ago and have never regretted the decision to bring him into our lives. He's such a cuddle monster, loves to play, is very friendly and warms up to new people very well. He's been very protective of us and his home, and given us a feeling of security by simply having him around. We've loved having him as a member of the family. But unfortunately, we aren't able to keep him. We have two other dogs that got along with him just fine, but as time went on he and our other male-a pug/beagle ... (Read More)mix-started to break into fights. We figured out that it wasn't Cooper's fault, learning that Puggles suffer from 'little-big dog syndrome', and are notorious for starting trouble. We've been keeping them separated by switching them out every two hours, in separate rooms. Because of this change he has become a bit on edge with other dogs, but I know he'll be okay with other dogs if just given time. If we aren't able to find him replacement parents, our last option is the humane society, and we dread having to resort to that. He's a good sweet boy that deserves all the love in the world. Please; contact me for more information on this big-hearted softy. (Less)

I am a year old Lab blend weighing approx. 45lbs. I am good with cats and mannerly in the house. I am a really good boy and my current foster mama found me as a stray walking along the highway and took me in but now she needs to be rescued herself now, from a bad situation she is in, so since she has helped me so much, I am trying to help her by finding myself a good home. This dog is located in San Antonio, Texas, but is ready to fly to a new home with an approved adopter. ...     Meet Costello - he's beefy & VERY SMART!!! Passed all the BARC test assessments I did on him but not a fan of male doggies. He's a more dominant male boy himself so ok w/a submissive female his size but no little dogs & no cats. Super mellow, very sweet & did I say smart. He's had some kind of prior training... did sit, stay, dropped the ball after he caught it. I'd say he's about 65-70 lbs of pure muscle. Very regal, quiet, watches you to see what you want him to do. He is currently residing in a boarding facility in Southern CA after being pulled by rescue. The population in CA is so massive we're trying to send pups to the amazing ... A adoption application will be required & will be checked thoroughly along w/a home check. We require this to ensure Costello will have a successful future & we want the best for this amazing boy. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-05-00340Bear (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bear is currently registered in the county we live in. I took custody of Bear to save his life. I was able to do this only by agreeing to take him into another county. He was going to be euthanized by the Police Department where he lived. His owners had neglected to train, neuter and properly contain him. Because they did not care for him properly he ended up getting himself into a little trouble. Bear has never shown signs of aggression, but because of his owners neglect to properly care for him he was labeled as a potentially dangerous dog. In the spring of 2014 Bear was being let out to go the bathroom when he ran across the street to ... (Read More)greet a kid riding his bike. In doing so he scared him and he kicked at bear. Bear being the puppy he was and the dumb dumb he is thought he was playing and he mouthed the kid on the ankle. In this incident he left a scratch. The small town police station where Bear lived wanted to label him as a dangerous dog and euthanize him. The thing was Bear didn't do this out of aggression or meanness. He was truly just trying to play. The police in the end could not label him as so though because the child's parents refused to press any charges. The Chief of police still wanted to euthanize Bear because he didn't want to release him back to his previous owners. You see because Bear had already been in trouble once in the past. He was charged with menacing and labeled as a potentially dangerous dog in 2012 because he had growled at a next door neighbor while in their yard. This neighbor didn't like bear because of his breed and come to find out later he was shooting a sling shot at him. This all didn't matter though because Bear had walked from his yard into their yard. In the report It was even stated that Bear never lunged at the neighbor or tried to bite. He never showed any signs he was going to do anything. But all because of his breed they still labeled him as a potentially dangerous dog. Honestly Bear is the most loving and affection dog I have had the chance to know. I would have never taken him in other wise. He was raised with and lived with 4 small children. He is great with other dogs. He does like to chase cats but in play. He doesn't seem to realize they don't want to play with a dog. Bear is kennel trained, up to date on all his vaccines and neutered. He knows all simple commands sit, down, drop, out. He is Chocolate Lab and Brindle Pit. He is about 2 to 2 1/2 yrs old. The only requirement do to his labeling from animal control is he has to be leashed at all times when in public and either leashed or behind a fence on private property. Their words were out of sight out of mind when it comes to his breed and people's opinions of it. He will also have to be registered in the county/city you live in. I love this dog and wish there were different circumstances, but I know I can't give him all the things he needs regarding time and energy. I can say I have personally taken him into public many times. I even took him to an Easter egg hunt with hundreds of kids around. I have taken him to the dog park many times. I have brought him to work with me. He has always been around children and they crawl and lay all over him. He is doing great even around my new born. Actually the most calm I have ever seen him. You could do just about anything to this dog and he would never respond aggressively. Bears problems lie with who his owners were and the lack of training and attention he received. He is high energy and extremely affectionate dog looking for his forever home. Please if interested in meeting Bear Private Message me. Tell me about yourself. Do you live in a house or apartment? Do you have a fenced yard? What other types of animals are in your family? How many people live in you home? Do you have children? Are you familiar with the breed? (Less)

Darling Dylan! If this boy were human, he'd be the life of the party! Dylan is a very sweet, goofy 4yr old, 75lb boy that still acts like a puppy (selective hearing when given the 'come' command). If he doesn't want to come inside when called, he'll either run or lay on his back and cover his eyes with his paws... he's such a goof! Dylan is great with other female dogs, both large and small but is not particularly interested in having a male buddy. He's great with kids but because of his size and wiggly, goofy nature, children over 12 would be best. He must have a securely fenced backyard in which to romp and play. He love to go for ...     Beautiful Mira is a country girl! This beautiful, 2ish yr old girl weighs about 65-70lbs. She's very sweet with her own people and is very well mannered in the home, but she takes some time to warm up to those she does not know. She's a bit on the insecure side so she needs a confident, assertive person to let her know all things are in control so there's nothing for her to worry about.
