Lab    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We have a beautiful, sweet, healthy, well trained 8yr old lab that came to us a year ago through a friend of a friend. Her only fault is that she needs a fenced yard, we live on 5 unfenced acres and she tends to wander. Although she tends to wander when left outside on her own, you can hike and walk with her and she stays with you on or off the leash. She is papered and was originally trained as a hunting dog, but since has become a family dog that is great with kids, other dogs, cats, horses, and chickens. We truly love Gabby and will be very sad to see her go, but she will make someone with a fenced yard a great pet. This is your ... Rescue Me ID: 15-09-02-00318Archie (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Poor little Archie is a survivor in every fiber of his body. From being found dumped off, to being the only one of his litter to survive parvo (he actually never even came down with it). He looks to be a Black Lab/Hound mix. He has the Hound face but Lab body and color. His birthday is 5/9/15 (to the best of our knowledge)...He has been neutered, 2 vaccinations and Rabies vaccination, dewormed, on Nexgard for fleas & ticks, and is doing great. The litter was found dropped in one of our parks...and they probably spent a day or two out in the heat probably without water or food. They were brought to our local vet who defleaed/deticked ... (Read More)them; fed them; watered them; then I picked them up the next day. We vaccinated, dewormed, and gave them all the food and water they wanted. They did well while in quarentein until the 'p' word hit. While all the puppies got sick and eventually expired Archie was the only one who remained strong and never had any of the sickness. He was a healthy boy and stayed strong and now is ready to go to his new home! Next transport leaves here September 16th and arrives in Washington/Oregon on September 19th at 6 different drop-off spots. Adoption Fee: $450. Adoption includes the entire medical (neutering, vaccinations, deworming, deflea/detick meds, and any other medical attention necessary), health certificate required for travel, and transport cost from San Antonio, TX to the PNW. Lab Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

COOKIE is a doll! She has to be part Hound dog. She is about 8 mos old, house trained, great with children and leaves my cats alone. This is a keeper. This puppy has no behavioral problems...she is just happy, happy, happy! She is smart and very personable. Expect her to be a medium-sized dog when grown...maybe 45-50#s...just guessing. Cookie started out as a foundling with her siblings alongside the road and small babies. The Animal Defense League took them in and a wonder foster Mom cared for them until they were ready to be adopted. All were adopted, but the family that took Cookie didn't realize that their own 4 children and a ... Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Fred (but my old family called me Benny and I respond to that name better) and I the cutest little lab mix you will ever see. I am pretty small, about 35 pounds. I was raised in a family environment with 4 kids, a cat, and occasionally my owners parents dog stayed with us. I have recently found myself in rescue through no fault of my own. My owners have too much on their plate right now and would like me to go to a home where someone can spend more time with me. I am lonely, and desperately seeking another family to love me. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Everyone tells me the perfect family is ... (Read More)out there somewhere, could it be with you? My adoption fee is $275. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs that require longer stays in the rescue, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org and fill out an adoption application. One of our adoption coordinators will review your application, and then contact you. Our adoption process includes an in person home check which you will need to complete before we set up an appointment to meet this dog or any of the other dogs in our rescue. Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia,
 Abused/Neglected

Kirby will be 10 years old this December, has cataract development in both eyes, has a quiet, calm personality, loves children and had a cat as a best friend. Kirby enjoys being around people, back rubs and the occasional treat. He was abused as a puppy and from this experience, has PTSD towards other dogs. While he was learning to go away from other dogs, while on a walk, he still has some difficulty and it is best not to have him in the same home of other dogs. Kirby brings with him, his arthritis medication 2-3 months supply and toys that he loves. Kirby loves car rides and is used to living indoors, with his human best friend.

He is not good at confined spaces or being along. He would love to be with his people at all times! He can easily jump or climb a 4 foot fence, and is not happy on a cable. He is house trained and loves to sleep right with his people. He is very good at watching out for strangers, and barks ferociously, but has never been aggressive. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

I have had Tank, my boxer mix for 8 years and am having to make a heartbreaking decision. Tank has always had some behaviors but they were manageable when it was just me but, 3 years ago I got married and along with my husband (who does love Tank), I also gained a 6 year old with mild disabilities and she is not a big fan of animals. 1 year ago I had my first child. So, Tank has been living well but separated from the family. Not only because she isn't a fan of animals but also because I don't trust him around children. He has never really been around them. As I said, Tank has always had some behaviors, let me explain that... As a puppy he ... (Read More)never liked his feet touched, no matter how much I worked with him. It got to the point that after having to sedate him just to clip his nails, his vet told us not to bother anymore and just let his nails be. He used to love being outside but now he only goes out to go to the bathroom, unless he has a dog door and can go in and out whenever he wants (this is not an option at our home now in the Tri Cities). At one point I lived on a somewhat busy road and I think someone must have messed with him, because he became very nervous and skittish. I never used to have any issues bathing Tank but in the last few years he snaps at me when I try to bathe him. Going to the vet in a nightmare, he doesn't want them to mess with him and the last time he had shots, we had to shut his hind quarters in a sliding door so they could administer his shots. I have no idea how he knows what a muzzle is but when he sees one, he gets very upset. On the other hand, he is so loving and sweet. I know that if someone had the knowledge and time he needs that he could be a great dog. Sadly, I have come to realize that I am not the best person to give him what he needs. It has been very hard to admit that. I keep telling myself that I need to do what is best for him. I am hoping that I can find someone who can be the help he needs. (Less)

Animal ID: 15-08-10-00665Mason (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mason is an amazing, loving and wonderful dog. He's playful, he listens well and is highly treat motivated. He knows sit, down, shake, high five and wait. He loves spending time with his person, is crate trained, can wait up to 8 hours between potty breaks and will not get up on the furniture unless invited. I fostered him for the Seattle Animal Shelter in August of 2012. After just a week or two I fell in love and adopted him. I'm guessing that he is 4 or 5 years old. I'm sure you are reading this and wondering what the catch is. Well here it is, Mason is dangerous to children. All children. When I adopted him I didn't have any kids in ... (Read More)my life, I wasn't married and didn't think I would ever have children of my own. Well, not long after I adopted Mason, I met my now husband. We have several friends with children in our lives and we hope to have our own as well. Not being able to have family and friends over has become really difficult. And we can not have children of our own until we find a loving home for this awesome guy. So the next logical question is why not surrender him to the shelter. Well this one is tough. When my husband and I were out of town a friend was watching him and disregarded our directions that he not be around any children. They took him to a home with a kiddo and he bit her. This is an undocumented bite so he's not classified as a dangerous dog. However, even though he's wonderful and loving, he is also dangerous to children. Please don't ever forget that part. So I called the shelter and if I surrender him they would euthanize him. He's such a wonderful dog, I just can't bring myself to do that. So I'm here hoping that there will be a person out there who does not have kids in their life who sees what an amazing companion he is. Mason is pretty good on a leash. I can walk him around our neighborhood and take him to parks. If there are kids around (like walking toward you on the sidewalk) I just put him on the opposite side of my body then the kids. He will walk by without a second thought. He doesn't want to go after them, I get the sense that he's scared of them and their unpredictable movements. If they get close to him he will snap at the air. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for considering this amazing love of a dog. (Less)

HE IS LAB AND ST. BERNARD. I WILL POST A PICTURE ASAP. I RESCUED MOJO ABOUT A YEAR AGO AS A PUPPY. WE LIVE WAY OUT IN THE COUNTRY. HE HAS ALWAYS HAD FREE RUN OUTSIDE, AS WE HAVE SEVERAL ACRES. AT NIGHT HE HAS HAD A BED IN A LG DOG KENNEL INSIDE. HE HAS ALWAYS PLAYED WITH MY GRAND KIDS AND NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES OTHER THAN HE IS SO ENERGETIC AND JUMPS UP ON THEM. HE HAS NEVER SHOWN AGGRESSION TOWARDS ANY OF THE KIDS. MY ONE GRAND DAUGHTER IS HIS FAVORITE AND SHE LET HIM SLEEP WITH HER AS A PUPPY. THE OTHER DOG I RESCUED AS A PUPPY WAS A FEMALE AND THEY HAD A LITTER OF PUPPIES ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. THIS LAST WEEK THEY HAVE STARTED TO ... (Read More)COME OUT FROM THEIR DEN AND LET THE FAMILY HANDLE THEM. MOJO LOVES THE PUPPIES AND IS NOT AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS THEM, JUST PLAYS WITH THEM GENTLY. THERE ARE NO MEN WHO LIVE HERE SO MOJO IS NOT USED TO MEN AND SHYS AWAY FROM THEM, OTHER THAN MY SON, WHEN HE VISITS AND HE HAS A NATURAL WAY WITH ANIMALS. BUT MOST MEN HE SEEMS TO BE AFRAID OF. MY SON IN LAW IS A VERY LARGE MAN AND EVEN THOUGH MOJO HAS LET HIM PET HIM HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN KIND OF STAND OFFISH WITH HIM. THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY HE CAME UP TO PICK UP MY GRAND DAUGHTER AND WE ALL WENT OUT TO SEE THE BABY PUPPIES. WE WERE ALL SITTING ON THE GROUND AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. MOJO WAS LAYING INFRONT OF ME. WHEN MY SON IN LAW STOOD UP MOJO WENT OVER TO WHERE HE WAS AT AND MY SON IN LAW REACHED DOWN TO PET HIM AND MOJO ATTACKED HIM. I JUMPED UP AND HOLLERED AT HIM AND HE RAN OFF INTO THE YARD MY SON IN LAW WAS ANGRY AND WENT AFTER HIM AND WAS HOLLERING AT HIM AND MOJO ATTACKED HIM AGAIN. BECAUSE MY SON IN LAW IS SO BIG HE DID NOT GET HURT BAD OTHER THAN A COUPLE OF BRUISES ON HIS ARM. I HAVE NO DOUBT HE WAS ONLY PROTECTING MY GRAND DAUGHTER AND PERCEIVED HER DAD AS A THREAT TO HER, AND THE PUPPIES SHE WAS HOLDING, BUT I CAN NOT HAVE AN AGGRESSIVE DOG HERE WITH MY 5 GRAND CHILDREN. IT IS NOT WORTH THE CHANCE THAT HE MAY ATTACK ONE OF THE OTHER KIDS SHOULD THEY PLAY ROUGH HOUSE AND HE THINKS ONE OF THEM IS BEING HURT. WE ALL LOVE HIM AND HE IS VERY SMART.HE KNOWS SEVERAL HAND COMMANDS AND GIVES YOU HIS PAW AND HEELS. HE WILL SIT BUT HE WILL NOT SIT AND STAY. I DO NOT WANT TO THINK HE HAS TO BE PUT DOWN FOR DOING WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS HIS DUTY. BUT IF HE IS NOT GONE MY GRAND KIDS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COME BACK. I HAVE HIM IN A DOG KENNEL OUTSIDE UNTIL WE CAN FIND A HOME FOR HIM. IF NOT MY SON IN LAW IS GOING TO HAVE HIM PUT DOWN. PLEASE SOMEONE WHO FEELS THEY HAVE THE TIME AND ENERGY TO WORK WITH HIM TAKE HIM!!! [HE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A VEHICLE OTHER THAN WHEN HE WAS BROUGHT HERE AS A PUPPY]. FEEL FREE TO CALL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM.[WE WERE GOING TO HAVE THEM BOTH FIXED AFTER THE FIRST LITTER OF PUPPIES.] I WILL PAY FOR HIM TO BE NEUTERED, IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WOULD CHOOSE TO DO.     Meet Misty! Happy go lucky and friendly, she is looking for a home where people have more time for her! Her current owner likes her just fine, but he isn't home and Misty has to be tied up. A fenced yard with a doggie pool would be much better! She is active and extremely smart! She is house trained, too! Misty would make a great family companion, but because of her energy level, will need training and should not be expected to be calm around small children...just won't happen!! If you are looking for a happy, active, friendly dog, come meet Misty!

ADOPTION FEE: $225 ABOUT ME: I am one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. I am great with kids, dogs and even cats. I will say that if I live with a cat though, I would really like a dog around to play with or I might pester the cat too much for play time. I am house broken, love to play fetch and crate trained. I am a great dog and have been well socialized since the day I was born and would ... (Read More)love to have a family that can take me on hikes and to the park and make me a part of the pack during family time. MY NEEDS: Aneela would love a home with other young dogs to play with and if she is going to be left along for ever hours we strongly recommend a particular type of heavy duty crate/. she is very good at escaping most crates and will be siting on the couch or getting into mischief when you get home if she is in the standard wire type kennel. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org and fill out an adoption application.     PLEASE HELP this very bonded, beautiful pair. After 6yrs of living with one family, it was decided that the family no longer wanted animals so these wonderfully tempered, gentle and friendly dogs were discarded into a very high kill shelter. We were able to save these two, with just a few hours to spare. We are desperately seeking a foster home so they can relax and feel safe until we find them their forever home. They weigh between 55-60lbs, although they're quite long-legged. Of course, they are available for adoption.

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Mia is a very energetic 9 year old black lab. She is very sweet but not great at chilling out. She is good with kids in that she is nice to them and not aggressive but she is very excitable and may knock them down without malice. She is very special and if she was my daughter I would describe her as autistic. She needs strong leadership and LOTS of attention. We will donate $50 to this organization if you adopt Mia. She is very sweet, we just are not the right fit.

Hi! My name is Big Duke and I am a big, loveable Mastiff mix. I am definitely a rescue favorite! I love all people, especially children, and I get along great with every animal I have ever met, even cats and chickens! I had a family of my own, however, I recently found myself back in rescue because my family was not able to address some of my medical needs. I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. The best home for me would have limited stairs because my knees bother me. For now, I do just fine with a little medication and limited exercise. Other than that, all I need right now is a family to see past my medical issues ... (Read More)and love me for me. Everyone tells me the perfect family is out there somewhere̢'|.could it be with you? My adoption fee is $275. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs that require longer stays in the rescue, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes.     63lb 6yo Spayed Female. Husky/Lab/Shar-Pei mix, NO PIT. Very sweet once she knows you, barky until she does. Great alert dog if you're concerned about strangers around your home. She has never nipped or bitten at anyone though - all bark no bite. She's okay around kids but since she's barky that can scare some smaller children. Best if there are children that they live in the home with her. We're re-homing her because she has some separation anxiety issues that we can't kick. Would do best with someone who likes to be active outdoors - on her gentle leader - and wants a steady, sweet dog who can keep up. She lives with 2 cats and gets along ...     LOOK AT THAT COAT! Snoopy is a very sweet, friendly, affectionate, happy boy. He is good with people, and other dogs. Snoopy was treated poorly in the past, someone burned him with chemicals. His skin is almost healed now but he may have some scars that remain on his legs. Regardless he is a wonderful dog with a sweet soul. Plus he is striking looking with his unusual coat.

Hi! My name is Nala and I am looking for a home of my own. You see, I once had a family and home to call my own, until a thing called foreclosure happened, and my family couldn't take me with them. So here I am. I am currently safe in the rescue, which is nice and comfortable, but I sure would prefer a home and a family to call my own. Valhalla Rescue is going to help me find my forever home. Don't let my age fool you. I LOVE to run around and play Frisbee. If you are active and you can keep up with me, we just might be a great match. I would love someone to run with and tire me out. I must admit I like running the show. I am a little bit ... (Read More)bossy, but I really love to please humans so if you are willing to help socialize me and help me understand I don't always need to be the Alpha, you might be the person for me. I tend to be pushy and selective with other dogs, and I do not like pitbulls for some reason. I am not good with cats either, I just want to chase and bite them. As far as those small humans go, I would be best with kids age 10 and older, only because I tend to jump up when I'm excited and might knock them over. I am housetrained, and learning that being in a crate sometimes is not so bad. I am spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $150. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org/ourdogs/adoptable and fill out an adoption application.     Hi! My name is Gunner and I am a handsome purebred Labrador Retriever looking for a place to call home. Could that home be with you? My brother and I were surrendered to Valhalla Rescue due to our ongoing medical issue, which is known as megaesophagus. This is a condition in which the muscles of the esophagus are not able to propel food into the stomach. This causes food to sit in the esophagus, unable to continue into the stomach to be digested. While there is currently no cure for megaesophagus, most dogs with this issue are able to live full, active, healthy and happy lives, they just need some extra help from their owners. I am getting ... (Read More)used to eating my meals in my special chair, and have no problem hanging out in it until my food has settled. I will be neutered before I go to my forever home, I am micro-chipped, and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $300. My adoption fee includes the special chair I eat all my meals in. This chair is called a 'Bailey' chair. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes.     I am already spayed, house-trained, in need of an experienced dog owner, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs and not good with cats. Tera's Story... Tera is a sweet puggle/lab mix. She's a little ver a year old old and weighs about 40-45lbs. It was clear when we got her that she had not been socialized well as a puppy. Tara can only be with very mellow, neutral dogs, but no other dogs in the home is best. No dog park for this girl.

Alexander is a wonderful, 18mo old, 60lb boy that is so ready for his own home! He is very athletic and loves to run so will thrive with a jogger or runner. He's still a young boy so he needs more training, but he's wonderful with people and he loves to play with other like size dogs. Although not yet tested, cats are not an option for this boy. He must have a securely fenced backyard... preferably in wood or electronic. If left alone in the backyard, he will go over a 6ft chain link fence to play with dogs in another yard. Fully crate trained though and he's fine to go to a home without another dog.

Beautiful Mira is a country girl! This beautiful, 2ish yr old girl weighs about 65-70lbs. She's very sweet with her own people and is very well mannered in the home, but she takes some time to warm up to those she does not know. She's a bit on the insecure side so she needs a confident, assertive person to let her know all things are in control so there's nothing for her to worry about. She does not do well in the high-energetic city settings so must have calmer, country home in which she has plenty of room to run and play. She's really a very sweet, absolutely gorgeous girl that gets along great with other smaller, gentle tempered ... (Read More)dogs. Actually, she'd do best with another easy-going dog in the home to help her become more confident. She will do best in an adult only home, or kids must be over 16yrs old... and no cats for this girl.     Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S. Labs are descended from St. John's Water Dogs.
