Rescue Me ID: 14-10-21-00617Dylan (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dylan is a sweet and mellow 5 year old lab looking for a loving forever home. He is a great dog who just needs a little love and care. He currently has some skin issues which are likely due to a flea or food allergy. A high-quality diet and regular flea treatment should help get him on his way to perfect health. Dylan also suffers from separation anxiety, which means he tends to bark non-stop when he's lonely. He is not the type of dog that can just be left out in the yard or left alone for long periods of time. He also would not make a good apartment dog as the neighbors would surely complain. A retired person or someone who works from home ... (Read More)would be ideal for this boy. Dylan gets along fine with other mellow and easy-going dogs, and could potentially benefit from having the perfect canine housemate. Kids with dog experience should be just fine and he could potentially live with a confident cat. Dylan would make a perfect companion for long walks on the beach, camping and cuddling up on the couch! If you would like to meet this great boy, please fill out an adoption application at the front desk. If you are over the age of 55, ask about our Young At Heart Adoption Special! (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed

Tori is our old yellow dog. We have had her since she was a puppy and now, 12 years later, divorce means we must sell our house and move to a very small apartment where dogs are not allowed. Tori is desperate for love and affection and accepts it and seeks it from all. She loves children but cannot and will not tolerate being abused by them. She has an infection in her left ear in an ear which has been 'droopy' since we got her. She sheds like crazy. She needs a daily brushing and benefits enormously from professional grooming. She loves to go in the car or go for a walk. She loves company. She has had most of her immunizations ... (Read More)over the years but is probably one or two behind at this point as the past year has been one of unfathomable financial crisis for our household. I regret very much that I cannot do right by my dog and keep her until her last day on earth, but I do not have the resources and have attempted to find a home for her among friends and family with no luck. Everyone says 'Tori is so sweet. I wish we could take her.' Adoption fee will be given to charity, not kept by me. I will send Tori to live in a good peaceful home.     Hello, my name is Duchess and I am a 4-year-old female Lab Mix looking for a new family to love and care for me. I am crate trained and housebroken. I will go to the door and point with my nose to let you know I have to go outside. I was primarily an indoor member of the family. I am described as active, playful, and kind of shy. I can be timid in new situations and I don't like loud noises. I am protective of my treats. I would do best in a home without small children or other dogs. I am a very friendly, cuddly girl.     Hello, my name is Elsa and I am a fabulous shepherd mix looking for a new place to call home. I got lost on Akulet Place in Bremerton and brought to the shelter as a stray on 10/10/2014. I am approximately 10 years young and have lots of love to share. I enjoy going for walks and am great on a leash. My favorite thing is spending time with people. I arrived with a smaller male dog, so I might get along with others. I am happy, friendly, calm, and well behaved. Please ask to take me to the exercise yard and see if we are a perfect match.

Boone is about 5 years old and 75 pound gorgeous and sweet spirited chocolate lab. Boone was rescued from the San Antonio city shelter with chemical burns down both of his front legs and horrible ear infection. His burns are now almost healed scabs and his ear infection has cleared up. Boone is house trained, crate trained and does well off leash. He listens well and is very smart. He knows sit, stay, makes great eye contact and loves to shake hands with everyone. He is a companion dog that thinks he is a lap dog. He does not like to be outside very much and prefers to hang out with his humans inside where ever you are. He has a ... (Read More)calm demeanor inside a house, but when you take him outside he has bursts of energy. He loves his toys and relocates them all over the house. He gets along awesome with other dogs and kids. He respects the alpha dog in the house, shares his toys, waits his turn to be fed and shows absolutely no signs of food aggression. He loves baths. When taken to outdoor restaurants he sits quietly while his humans eat. Boone will do best in an active family with or without children and with dogs where he will get daily walks and hikes. His new owners will have to be patient with his leash training. Boone has to be in a home without cats, fowl or live-stock. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Layla is a sweet, affectionate girl looking for a responsible, permanent home. She was brought to us because the older dog she lived with did not want to live with a puppy, as most older established dogs do not. She will need to be signed up for positive based training before her adoption can be finalized. Layla is a social girl with other dogs and people but needs help with confidence building. The classes will help her with this as well as taking her out and exposing her to new situations, places and people regularly. A well socialized, well exercised dog is a happy dog. She is not a good match for a small toddler as she is not confident ... (Read More)and also can be too rough not to accidentally hurt a little one. Respectful 12 year old and up children who do will respect Layla's space may be okay for her. She is a submissive girl who needs someone who will treat her gently with patience and loving care. We will be collecting adoption applications for Layla and calling people in when we feel we have found an appropriate match for her.     Meet Jax! He is a sweetheart looking for his loving forever home. Jax absolutely loves to play with tennis balls and knows how to 'drop it' when asked. He'll need lots of exercise daily in addition to ball time to help him work off his nervous energy. Jax can be a little wary of people at first and needs to go to a home that will be patient with him as he builds his confidence. He is a very sweet, playful boy once he gets to know. When playing or taking treats he does have a tendency towards mouthiness but is good about keeping the pressure soft. He will need to be signed up for reward based positive obedience training before he can go to ... (Read More)his new home. This will not only help with his behavioral quirks, it will also be a great bonding and socialization opportunity. He has a proven tendency to chase after small animals and will need to go to a home without any cats. Jax also needs to be the only dog in his new home as it takes awhile for him to warm up to them. Face to face introductions with other dogs are intimidating to him so he is never going to be a dog park kind of dog and will require extra diligence when on walks. Jax needs to go to an adult only home that is experienced with dog ownership. Jax may need a little extra work but he will be well worth the effort. If Jax sounds like the dog for you, please come to the front desk to fill out an adoption application to spend quality time with him today. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Everyone loves the movie 'Finding Nemo' right? Well, that is what this awesome little guy was named...and everyone will love him too. This handsome and silly boy is looking for his family to make his life complete! Nemo was found wandering and just trying to survive the ugly streets of the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas with his two brothers, Willis and Arnold. They were rescued recently and are now living a life that they could not have imagined before. Regular meals, love and affection, daily play time in the yard and a comfy bed are all things that were new and exciting for these boys. They also have a ton of friends now and ... (Read More)have learned how to socialize with other dogs, people and cats. Nemo is about 2 years old, 45 pounds and has a medium energy level. Nemo loves to go for long walks and play indoors after a nice jog. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is usually the leader of the pack of clowns. He loves people, but can be a bit shy for a moment when meeting new people. He has a moderate energy level, meaning he knows how to run and play, but also enjoys coming inside to just hang out with his people. Nemo is already crate-trained, knows some basic commands such as sit and settle, and is housebroken. Nemo was sadly heartworm positive when he was rescued, but that is a very common problem with the strays in Houston. He has been treated and completed it like the champ that he is. This Nemo is not a clownfish, but we can guarantee that he's fun and silly like a clown. If you are looking for a great dog that will brighten your days, Nemo is a perfect match. Nemo currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Seattle because we have amazing volunteers that live here who help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions. Corridor Rescue has the very fortunate ability to transport dogs to other states via the United Airlines PetSafe program. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $150. The transport cost is $225, which includes the airline flight, a new pet travel kennel that you can keep upon arrival and the required health documents from the veterinarian. The grand total for adopting this pet including adoption and transportation fee is $375. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Can you imagine being severely wounded and having nowhere to go and nobody to help you? That was what Tyler had to go through as he hid under a tree deep in the brush in the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas, to try to protect himself from further harm. It was fate that the Corridor Rescue volunteers spotted him that day while they were out feeding all of the strays. They immediately knew that they were rescuing him from death, but he was scared of their intentions and growled at them as a warning to stay away. He very quickly realized that they were his heroes. They gave him rotisserie chicken to gain his trust and water to hydrate ... (Read More)his weak and crashing body. His injuries were so extensive, but nobody knows what happened to this wonderful boy. It could have been that he was mauled by a much larger animal, hit by a car and left to die or injuries at the hands of heartless people. We will never know, but that is in the past and we are all so proud of our survivor for his journey since that day. Tyler is about 2 years old and currently 52 pounds. When he was found, he was just 41 pounds, so he has gained some much needed weight. Tyler has learned so much in the last several months since his rescue. His foster family adores him and he very much enjoys living life as a pet rather than surviving on his own. He currently lives with 2 cats, an 11 year old human sister and many other dogs that range in age from 8 weeks to 5 years and from 2 pounds to 70 pounds. He interacts beautifully with all of the 2 and 4-legged members of his foster family. Like all dogs, a proper introduction is necessary for Tyler so he feels comfortable when visiting new furry friends. Tyler had extensive surgical repairs and treatments to go through after his rescue. His wounds to his rear leg were too great for it to be saved. He has adjusted very well to living life as a tripod. He runs like a gazelle in his back yard, but he wouldn't make a good running partner since his runs are in short bursts. He walks very nicely on a leash and enjoys his evening strolls around the neighborhood. He doesn't like swimming although he has a pool. Other than his severe leg injury, Tyler had very deep wounds on his back that have left permanent scars and he was also heartworm positive. He has recently finished treatment for the heartworms. Tyler has molded well into his foster family because they have provided him with a loving environment, but also with a routine. He requires exercise, discipline and affection and has thrived in a home setting with these simple things. When he wakes up in the morning, he runs to greet his dog buddies first, then his humans, then he eats and then wants to take a nap in his foster mom's lap. He is a dog that seeks approval from his humans and he is a people pleaser 100% of the time. He loves belly rubs, chasing the ball (but rarely returns with it); his favorite toys are the plush, squeaky ones and he is perfectly content for at least 30 minutes alone after you give him one. He clearly prefers to be with his dog friends and people though. He is a lover, not a loner! A couple of his hobbies include chasing bugs, playing in his yard and often dancing in circles to impress. While he's inside, he seeks your attention throughout the day. His given nickname is 'Bear' because he will paw at you for some attention and love. He is very gentle when he takes treats out of hands and he doesn't have any food, treat or toy aggression at all. He likes to sleep soundly on a bed at night with the other members of his pack. If there are children in the family, over 6 years old would probably work out best for him as he is still learning how to gently paw for attention. He most definitely wants a family that is home more than they are away because he wants nothing more than to spend time with you. He is an all around big goof, easy-going, fun-loving family dog and despite all of the trauma in his life, he has maintained the most appreciative and loving disposition. Are you the lucky first owner of this gentle giant with a heart of gold? Tyler currently lives in Houston, Texas and is on the network for Seattle because we have amazing volunteers who live here to help coordinate successful out-of-state adoptions.     We used to live on 5 acres (2.5 fenced), where our dogs had plenty of room to run. Last year, we moved to a lake with barely over 1/2 acre of property (only a small portion is fenced). Until recently, Scooby was content with the limited space, but has finally figured out that he can go out into the lake & wade over to the end of the fence. We can't extend our fence across the lake; therefore, we no longer have a way to contain him. Scooby is my baby, and a loving home is a must! We adopted him when he was 10 weeks old. He was chipped & neutered before bringing him home. We kennel trained him, and he was an indoor dog for the 1st 1-1/2 ... (Read More)years. When we brought home a 2nd puppy, we quickly realized that dogs playing with eachother in the house wasn't our thing, so we moved them both outside. We have a cat who hangs out with both dogs...he rubs his body against their legs & will sometimes curl up next to them to sleep. Scooby is great with kids of all ages, but does tend to get a bit hyper. He'll accidentally hit toddlers with his tail, or turn too quickly & knock them over. We walk with our 23 month old granddaughter when Scooby is near her, just to make sure he's being 'gentle.' When elderly people are walking outside, we kennel him, just in case he gets too hyper & clumsy. He doesn't bite, even when he's upset with people (ie: clipping toenails, shots, being poked & prodded). He does get agitated when random dogs walk near our fence line. His hair stands on end, he whines, and becomes territorial...the vet tells us he's just doing what dogs do...protecting his property. He's been boarded several times at McKenna Kennels & they tell us he's never had any issues when outside with the other dogs. (Less)

Many dogs will come up to a new person to sniff them as a greeting...not Willis!! This guy will roll over and lay in your lap to get to know you better. He is the definition of affectionate and happy. He has never met a stranger and everyone that meets him says he's just the best. Willis is about 1.5 years old, 45 pounds and has great medium level energy. Willis was rescued while surviving the streets of the Corridor of Cruelty with his two brothers Nemo and Arnold. They were fortunately all rescued together and are now living in a boarding/training facility to help prepare them for their new families. Willis is the clown of the group ... (Read More)and his brothers are both very reserved. He's so very loving and social that it is almost unbelievable that he spent even a day in that awful place. It certainly didn't affect his outlook on life one bit. Sadly without monthly preventatives, he was heartworm positive upon rescue. He has been treated and will be given a clean bill of health this month. WooHoo!! He enjoys spending every moment with his new human friends. It doesn't matter what activity you are involved in, he will be by your side running, fetching, swimming, sleeping or even sharing some of your unwanted vegetables. We could have named him Shadow and it would have been quite fitting. This young man really does have it all and we are so excited to announce that he is available for adoption because he is going to bring so much joy to a family. Willis is great with other dogs, big or small, and would love to have at least one to play with in his new family, but more would be great. He is a dream with kids and adults. One cannot be perfect in every single category, so he only tolerates cats, but would probably be better without one as his immediate sibling. This guy is the life of the party and has proven to be just a well- rounded, fun, silly and amazing friend. He would be a great addition to any family dynamic, but would be best in an active family with kids that will allow him to tag along for all of their family events. Willis is currently crate-trained, leash-trained, housebroken and is currently working on learning basic commands such as sit, stay and settle. You might want to hurry because this guy WON'T last long with us.     Hello, my name is Leo. I am 8 yrs young and am lab/german sheep mix. My mom adopted me and my brother Beau when we were only 5-6 weeks old and raised us. I have always had wander lust (so a good fence is a must to keep me safe) and led Beau on many adventures, one of which got me hurt %BD'%BD|. bad! I fell down some big boulders and broke my elbow %BD'%BD| It now is bionic and has never caused me any grief. I can run and play with the best of them. Beau and I always went to Auntie Gretchen's for 2-3 weeks in the summer when mom went on vacation. Auntie has been trying to convince mom for years that even though I am so sweet and ... (Read More)cuddly, I see myself as alpha (at least over Beau and mom)%BD'%BD|. I learned years ago that auntie is alpha in her house and I don't argue the point. Mom recently got a divorce and for months, Beau and I came to auntie's house%BD'%BD| Mom finally found a place and we all moved in. I got very irritated with her and the others when they would go to work so I decided to show em who was boss and I ate the furniture, tore up carpets and door moulding %BD'%BD| mom finally put a camera to see who was doing the damage%BD'%BD|. Beau and Jax would go hide when I got wound up. Mom is renting and finally, tearfully asked auntie Gretchen to try and find me a new home %BD'%BD|. my good traits are: I know sit/down/stay and walk nicely on a leash. I am learning 'wait' here at auntie's house. I love to play fetch and am happy running and playing with other dogs. I HATE being tied up and will bark and whine to show my displeasure. I know to stay off the furniture and I don't get into the garbage. I adore humans and don't care what size they are. I don't guard food or toys and am not a picky eater. I am crate trained and need a nice roomy, strong one. I am completely house broken. I love going for car rides and just generally being with a human. I don't jump on people and I am not a obnoxious licker of humans. I do have a couple of faults%BD'%BD| I will destroy any toy that is filled with stuffing. I have been known to destroy my bedding if it is 'fluffy' (though I am doing way better). I can be with cats but should have some supervision since I do like to see if I can make them run from me. I need a family that will shower me with love and affection and take me in as a long lost family member. (Less)
