Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

5 year old Lula lost her home through no fault of her own. Her owner simply could not care for her and Georgia Peaches any more. Lula is adorable - pictures do not do her justice. She and Georgia Peaches have been lifelong companions, and we very much would like to find them a home where they can remain together (if at all possible) - but we think Lula would do just fine as long as her new home has another other canine companion for her. If you would like to offer Lula a forever home, please submit an application which you can find on our webpage (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org). Emailing it will get the fastest response.

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-28-00162sheila (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Sheila was my son's dog. She is about 3 years old, weighs about 50 pounds, and has been spayed. My son moved out of state and couldn't take her with him. We started trying to find her a home 2 months before he moved but have not been able to find her a home. I had no choice but to take her along with my 3 smaller dogs. It just isn't working out very well. My 9 pound chi-pin is terrified of her and stays in his crate in another room almost all the time. My oldest dog just stays out of her way and Ginger, the youngest of my dogs has been Sheila's playmate from the time she was big enough to play until recently. Sheila has recently been giving ... (Read More)a little growl and lunging at Ginger, her tail between her legs and her head low and I don't know why it is happening. Her behaviour is totally different than it used to be around my dogs. I don't' understand it and it makes me nervous. I am sure she can sense my feelings and that isn't making things any better. I love Sheila with all my heart, I have been around her since she was 3 months old but I can't keep her,I am waiting a little while longer in hopes that she can get a second chance with someone that understands the breed better than I do and can work with her. Where I live there are very few options, we don't have a shelter and the no kill shelter will only take animals from kill shelters or strays. I only have one option if I can't find someone that will take a chance with her and I don't want to even think about it but if her behaviour towards the other dogs gets worse I will be forced to have her put down. Please, I know there is someone out there that she would be the perfect companion for, I only hope I can hold out long enough to find them. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Emerald or Em as we call her is a very sweet girl. She was taken to a kill shelter in June 2012 as a court case with her puppies. Starved and in bad shape there she sat. Her puppies were quickly adopted but Em was not so lucky. She would protect her puppies so they labeled her as aggressive, which she is NOT. She is playful with other dogs and just a happy go lucky clown now. She is Spayed, UTD on all her shots, and is house broken. She is available for adoption and is so ready to have a family of her own. If interested in Em or have questions. email us at mmadoptions@gmail.com

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-16-00218Duckie (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Duckie came to us last year after she gave birth to some incredible puppies. Duckie had been living feral and was taken to a rural shelter where she curled up inside a plastic doghouse in subzero temperatures - waiting for her pups to be born - and to die. We got her to the vet - - just in time. Duckie has ongoing skin issues due to the neglect she has suffered - but if ever a dog deserves a good home - Duckie is that dog. She is initially very shy. She will be a 'project' dog for anyone who adopts her. Please consider giving this poor dog a chance at a normal life so she can see just how good it can be to be a dog. She is totally ... Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Duke, he's been through a lot and has come out the other side a great dog. He is neutered and up to date on his shots as well as HW negative. He is a sweet dog that listens and minds very well. Since his neuter and some time and work he does well with many different dogs from Beagle to an OES we had for some time with no issues, however it seems Duke prefers the ladies. He does best with strong females. On his own, he is incredibly sweet, attentive and glad to be out and about and safe. He loves people, especially my hubby. If you have room in your life for a dog that needs a little extra love contact me at mmadoptions@gmail.com Duke ... (Read More)deserves a second chance. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Lab in West Virginia
Lab Dogs can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Labrador Retrievers are friendly dogs that are popular in multiple countries as family pets. Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Labs can adapt to apartment life with sufficient daily exercise but do best with a decent sized yard.

lnteresting Lab Trivia Low-Cost West Virginia Spay & Neuter Clinics
Labs have very gentle mouths and can even carry an egg without it breaking. One rescue lab named Jake helped dig through burning debris at Ground Zero to find people trapped after 9/11, and later helped with rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. The Labrador Retriever is by far the most popular dog in the U.S.
