Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Grady is a 3 year old, great family dog. He is a big strong, mixed breed dog. He only likes our little female Schnauzer and does not like most other dogs. He is gentle and does not jump up on grand kids. He loves to go for walks. The problem with us is that because our work schedules, he is just not receiving as much exercise as he needs. He gets out on occasion and does damage. Today he got in to our chicken coop (over and under three doors/fences) and killed our chickens. He would not do well on a farm and is used to having a fenced in yard. He has had some obedience training and is good with sits and downs. Please help us find a good ... (Read More)home for him! Health: Needs to be Spayed

Frannie, Shay & Dawson ~ Intake date: 3/29/15. Frannie, along with her two pups, Shay and Dawson, are the result of yet another rescue mission from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The LightShine Rescue Group has been doing some amazing work out on this Reservation to save as many dogs as possible from a nearly certain death and we here at GGOH have been doing our part to help when we can. Frannie is a German Shepherd/Lab mix, approximately 2 years old. She is up-to-date on vaccinations but is not yet spayed as she came to us still nursing her pups. Shay & Dawson are believed to be a Lab cross, both microchipped and ... (Read More)up-to-date on their puppy shots; approximately 10 weeks old as of 4/13/15. Both pups are females with Shay having the white-tipped paws and white bib. Dawson is solid black. Frannie is just a lovely, well-behaved dog and has been a very good momma to her babies. She would make a wonderful pet for anyone looking to add a medium sized dog into their life. The puppies are, well, puppies! They are full of energy and are into all the things a puppy would normally be into at this age. They like to run and play and roll and jump and sniff and chew and well, as already said, do all things puppy. We're excited to have them here with us at GGOH but we're even more excited over the possibility of finding these wonderful dogs new and loving forever homes. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-11-00557Vinnie (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Mange (Demodectic)

Vinnie is a male, Lab/Shar-pei Mix, approx. 11 months as of March 2015. Vinnie was left on the streets as a puppy to wander and scrounge for any scraps of food he might find. As he grew, he was infested with mites that left him with dry itchy skin, hair loss, some open sores and cracking bloody skin. This young pup knew no love just heartache, wanting someone to care enough to stop and help him, maybe even give him a bath, some food, a little pat on the head, to let him know he mattered. Enter LightShine Rescue Group; bless their souls for driving the roads day in and day out looking for not only Vinnie, but the hundreds of animals in ... (Read More)similar and even worse situations. Because they stopped and showed Vinnie that YES PEOPLE CARE, he is here with us today. While LightShine Rescue Group made the first move, GGOH made the second. We made the commitment to help this sweet boy get veterinary care so he could begin to heal and promised to show him HOW MUCH HE MATTERS. We shower him with love daily and have helped him to learn that the world is not all cruelty; there is a lot of love and kindness out there and before long, we hope he'll know the love of a new home, too. Vinnie's skin condition is improving daily and before long, you won't even know this sweet boy had such a rough beginning. Vinnie is currently in-tact as he cannot be altered until he has finished his meds for his skin condition (Demodex) - however, we will cover altering if you would like to adopt Vinnie now and agree to finish out his meds for the Demodex. If you'd like more information on Vinnie, please feel free to contact us as we'd be glad to tell you all about him.     Marion is a female, Yellow Lab Mix, approximately 3 years old (as of March 2015). She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and is heart worm negative. She has a docked tail, and may have been born this way, but we're not sure. Marion comes to GGOH from Smiling Dog Farms in Texas. This medium sized dog is BIG on love - such a sweat heart! She's great with other dogs and is very good with cats as well. We're told she's good with kids as well, and honestly we don't see how she couldn't be as she is just the nicest dog. Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Donner is 10 years old (DOB June 2004) but still has several years of loving to give. Intake date: April 2014. He is a Lab/Pointer mix. Donner came to GGOH after his owner passed away; a friend of his owner gave Donner a temporary home, but it didn't go too well as Donner had been a one person dog and was not used to other animals, which this temporary home had. While Donner prefers to be the only dog, we have begun to introduce him to the concept of walking along side other dogs by training him with one of our other rescues. Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bernie is a male lab/hound mix and is approximately 2 1/2 year old (as of Nov. 2014). Intake date: Feb. 2013. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heart worm checked and microchipped. This is one very happy go lucky dog; always giving the GGOH volunteers a run for their money when simply going outside for a quick break. Bernie loves to walk on his back legs, actually doing a little jig, when being escorted from his kennel to the run areas. He is a very lovable boy. About 55lbs. He was brought to GGOH roughly 2 years ago with his brother Mac when approached by another rescue to save these 2 from death row. Bernie needs an ... Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

April is a female Lab/Rottweiler mix; approximately 3 1/2 years as of April 2015. Intake date: Sept. 2012. April and her brother Sarge were taken in at Gregory's after they were abandoned by their owner out in the country. Upon trying to make their way back to the city, a kind community member contacted GGOH for assistance for these two who had taken up residency at the bottom of her driveway. The reason we knew they were 'dumpee's' is the owner had been to GGOH on the Friday before they were found, inquiring about surrendering them. April's pads were ripped from running and both were hungry, thirsty and tired. We really have no idea ... (Read More)how far they had run back. We immediately took both to the vet, got them on the road to being healthy, happy dogs and have since been providing their care; Sarge found his new home in November of 2014 but April still awaits hers. My ideal family for lana would be a farm family, a couple with a good area of land, or a very active family with the dog. Lana has a part of our hearts and she wont go with a family we don't see that fits lana's lifestyle. Im gonna ask alot of questions. LOL I hope you understand. Thanks for reading (Less)

Labs are friendly, playful, trainable dogs. Labrador Retrievers need companionship and are excellent with children and other dogs. Most labs are too friendly to make good guard dogs.
